2-Pac’s Legacy Lives On: 20-Year Death Anniversary Remembrance & “Forever 2Pac Mix” [AUDIO]

tupacdeath_96

It’s crazy to think it’s been 20-years since the passing of the legend, Tupac Amaru Shakur.

When I think of September 13th, I think of it as a day that will forever live in infamy and not only for the hip-hop community. At 25-years-old Pac was far ahead of his time. He was a superstar with millions of copies sold, a musical icon, poet and celebrated actor. He played major roles in films like “Juice,” “Poetic Justice,” “Above The Rim” and “Gang Related,” to name a few. He was never one to shy away from any social topics or movements especially those he felt oppressed his people. A strategic activist, he was very eloquent and thoughtful in how he used his platform of culture and music to inform people of the pressing issues going on around them, in-turn keeping them woke. Had he been around now he would’ve surely played an instrumental role in the #BlackLivesMatter movement and been on the frontlines fighting for civil rights and equality, while fighting against police brutality and social injustices.

He was known as one of the hardest working people in the industry. Pac released four studio albums (‘2Pacalypse Now’ ‘Strictly 4 My N.I.G.G.A.Z…’ ‘Me Against The World’ ‘All Eyez On Me’) and left behind enough work to release six posthumous albums through Death Row Records, his dear mama’s Amaru Entertainment and Interscope Records. His work garnered numerous plaques and the rapper remains as only one of two hip-hop artists to have two RIAA Diamond Certified albums.

We remember 2-Pac today for his music but also much more than his music. He was a wordsmith, a poet and a public intellectual, who never let the fame, the talent or the money get to his head. Like his music, his views spoke volumes. The world will never see another 2-Pac, but hopefully we will get another artist with the same brilliance, passion and ideology.

The homie B-Eazy The DJ put together this dope “Forever 2Pac (20 Year Anniversary Mix),” with some of Pac’s hardest-hitting songs. Press play below, light one up and pour out a little liquor as you live through Pac’s words.

May you rest peacefully forever in “Thugz Mansion.”
