LEAKERS_REWIND_FEB28.jpg

This week has been major for fans of the hip hop culture with the releases of some highly anticipated projects we have been anxiously waiting for. Let’s get it started.

KENDRICK DROPS UNTITLED UNMASTERED

There’s been a lot of pressure on TDE CEO Top Dawg the past several weeks, over releasing Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Untitled Unmastered’ project. LeBron James was one of the many to put the pressure on.

The few days Top needed for a decision paid off for all K. Dot fans, with the project officially dropping at midnight. The ambiguous project contains eight tracks of recordings originally made in 2013 and 2014, which may be the demos that were left off his last album, To Pimp A Butterfly.

Listen to it here:

On the project Kendrick delivers his usual jazzy, melodious sound that vibrates the speakers with the bass lingering over his explosive lyrics.

Apparently LeBron likes what he hears.

These surprise projects really add excitement to the music. The project is available on iTunes, Spotify and TIDAL.

GKMC SHORT FILM RELEASED

In addition to the Untitled Unmastered project, Kendrick released the ‘good kid, m.A.A.d city’ short film that has been surfacing as well.

The short film shows the inspirations behind Kendrick’s freshman album, ‘good kid, m.A.A.d city,’ with actual footage and audio from his experiences.

THE UNRULY MESS HAS BEEN MADE

Macklemore and Ryan Lewis released their sophomore album, This Unruly Mess I’ve Made more than three years after their first album.

Their first album scored them a few GRAMMY awards and went platinum so you can see why this project has been anticipated for years.

The duo released the first single off the album last year. The single, “Downtown,” features old school cats, Melle Mel, Kool Moe Dee and Grandmaster Caz in a boisterous song that stimulates any old school hip-hop head.

This Unruly Mess I’ve Made has a nice, wide blend of features that you don’t usually see. From KRS-One to DJ Premier to Chance the Rapper to YG, the features are so diverse that even actor Idris Elba got a feature.

It’s quite ironic to see the diversity of the features, after-all the album does speak on many social issues like diversity, race and speaking out for things you believe in.

You can purchase the entire 13-track album on iTunes or stream it on Spotify.

2UNCHI STARS IN ‘COLLEGROVE’

After months of hype over Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz putting out a joint album, the pair finally gave the fans what they’ve been waiting for since it was first announced in November.

The collaborative album Collegrove joins the names of both the rappers respective hometowns of College Park and Hollygrove.

On the 13-song project you will find “Rolls Royce Weather Everyday” and “Gotta Love,” which they debuted on ‘The Tonight Show.’

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lc-Z3KjpupY

Lil Wayne went on SportsCenter a few weeks ago and discussed the original title of “Rolls Royce Weather Everyday” and the project.

2 Chainz has five solo songs on the album including the Mike Will production “Mf’n Right.”

BIG TALK ALERT

DJ Khaled’s “major” announcement this week has made his price go all the way up. The self-proclaimed “King of the Anthems,” announced that he signed on to Roc Nation for a new management deal.

Khaled announced earlier in the week that Jay-Z will be managing him. What’s most interesting here is how he will manipulate his recent partnership with TIDAL’s competitor, Apple Music, for the We The Best radio show that airs every Friday on Beats1 Radio.

Check out the video where Jay welcomes Khaled to the ROC and gives him the last original Roc-A-Fella chain:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xiJyMuUYKko

“It’s the ROC!”

LEO FINALLY GETS AN OSCAR

Leonardo DiCaprio is only one of the biggest actors of our generation. Before last Sunday’s Oscars, he was also one of the only biggest actors without an Oscar award.

That all changed for Leo as he finally won the award of Best Actor for his role on The Revenant.

It was nice to see Leo get what he’s been deprived of for years! I stick to my original tweet from Sunday:

In all seriousness take a look at Leo’s acceptance speech and the overall message.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VnKs_dWcVuM

It’s easy to cheer for guys like that. They need to give him an award for the selfless speech. Cheers, Leo.

L.A. Leakers Indie Pick Of The Week : Torrian Ball

IndiePickOfTheWeek_TorrianBall

Before this week’s Indie Pick of the Week, Torrian Ball ever thought of pursuing a career in music as a rapper he had the support of one of Chicago’s OG rappers: Twista, who he met at the ‘Chicago Legends Tour’ in 2004.

Ball was 14-years-old at the time, not even old enough to get into a concert without the accompaniment of his mother.

At the concert there was a contest where anybody in the crowd could go up on stage and kick a freestyle. The winner was chosen by the crowd and given the opportunity to meet Twista backstage.

Considering he grew up emulating Twista’s chopper style of rapping, this was a big deal for Ball and his Illinois bloodline.

“I used to rap just like Twista, that’s where my major influence come from,” Ball said. “I grew up on the Twistas, Do Or Dies era—the whole fast rap era with the Common and the Kanye West, all of that is where I got my inspirations from because I got to see it all evolve.”

He recalls the night he met Twista, where he won the contest in a landslide and was given the opportunity to go backstage.

After the show backstage, Twista pulled Torrian’s mother aside to express his admiration for the young rapper and invite him to go on the rest of the tour with him. Ball’s mother was a huge supporter of her son and granted permission for him to hit the road.

On the tour, a young Torrian would hit the stage in each city they resided to cover one of Twista’s hits at the time. Throughout the tour Ball continued to build a solid bond with the established Chicago rapper.

He maintained the relationship with Twista after the tour and would occasionally hang at the studio to soak up game. At the studio he also learned how the whole music-making process went down and became “the little kid they would send into the store to go get pops and shit.”

“That’s really how I got my feet wet,” he said. “I was in the studio with him [Twista], when him and Kanye were working on “Overnight Celebrity,” “Slow Jamz,” I got to be behind the scenes when they were working on that, doing all the fine tweaks.”

Seeing Chicago heavyweights like Kanye and Twista work on their craft was enough for Ball to really take his rapping to the next level and pursue it as a career.

“I’m one of those artists that really, really takes pride in putting in that work,” he said in a stern tone. “I like to mix both my hustles from the old school to the new school.”

Mixing his hustles was something he had to do when he returned to high school for his junior year. On the first day of class he was involved in a disastrous car accident that left him paralyzed for 11 months.

“I had to teach myself how to walk again,” he said. “Just going through that time in my life I feel that one part of your body shuts down, the rest of them enhance. I really got in-tuned with my mind and expressing myself with words.”

The calamity further motivated him, serving in the interest of his hustle that didn’t stop even after his unfortunate accident.

Torrian’s grind has opened a lot of eyes and ears besides Twista’s. He has received support from fellow Chicago rapper GLC and Taylor Gang head-honcho, Wiz Khalifa, who he had the pleasure of meeting and making a song with.

Ball met Wiz through a promoter during a private summer pool party in Chicago which Khalifa performed at.

After Wiz was kicked out of a handful of hotels for smoking, the promoter called to ask Ball if they could bring Wiz to his house until Khalifa’s manager Will, was released from the police station for the smoking incident.

“I was like yeah, nigga. Of course you can bring this nigga to my crib,” he said giggling. “After they left my producer called me and was like, “yo Wiz wants to show love for letting him stay at your house, he said he has a hook for you.” I was like huh, for real?”

That hook was put on their single, “Wings”, which was released a year later and reached over 150,000 plays on Ball’s SoundCloud. Listen to it here:

Ball hasn’t gone idle or let the Wiz feature get to his head. Instead he’s continued to work hard on his next project, ‘The 4 God’ EP which he says represents him as well as the “Quad Cities” by way of East Moline, where he’s from.

“I wanna be heard, I’m hungry,” he said. “The title basically is saying I’m the nigga running the city, doing my thing while I’m putting on for the city.”

His first single off the EP, ‘4 God’ illustrates that vision with lyrics like : “Niggas watch me starve, now they wanna play, when I was down wouldn’t front an eighth, had to fall back get my money straight, now my money coming like andale.”

Peep the entire song and fierce lyrics:

https://soundcloud.com/torrianball/4-god

Aside from the verbal abuse, the EP also demonstrates Ball’s skills on the board with the mixing and mastering which he is responsible for on the entire EP.

“I could never pay for enough time to vibe in the studio for them to mix and master my songs,” he said. “I was like fuck that, I’m gonna save my money and teach myself, I was blessed enough to know engineers that let me shadow them and come in after-hours.”

Torrian will be dropping ‘The 4 God,’ March 13th, the same week he is expected to perform at the South by Southwest music festival in Austin, Texas.

His overall goal in music isn’t limited to getting signed but also to touch the heart of those who listen.

“Whether I make you wanna party, I make you wanna laugh, I wanna make you cry, everything I put out is gonna make you feel something,” he proclaimed.

Follow Torrian Ball on his socials @TorrianBall to keep up with all his moves and also the positivity he embraces through his movement.

“The movement is, ‘The Good Fly Young,’ do good, be fly, live young,” he said. “You go to my socials you see me encouraging my following on the daily basis to push that negativity out and let that positivity come in, because you can’t receive blessings in life until you push that negativity out.”

What a week! From Rihanna to Kanye to Daniel? Yeah, we’re “back at it again with the” LA Leakers Rewind!

DAMN, DANIEL

Once again the Internet has proven it could make anyone an overnight celebrity.

Daniel Lara and Joshua Holz, two high school sophomores from Riverside Polytechnic High School in California, are the most recent Internet sensations.

Holz posted a series of videos of Lara in different outfits that literally consist of Joshua repeatedly saying, “Damn, Daniel,” as he pans the camera up and down.

Another notable quote from the video is “back at it again with the white vans,” which I’m sure has delighted shoe company, Vans.

The two were invited to be on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” where they were showered with gifts including a lifetime supply of you guessed it, white Vans.

The original video has been viewed over 45-million times. “Damn, Daniel.”

Since music is what we do it for, you know we had to add a music angle to this story. Check out this mix of the “Damn, Daniel” videos:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=trZ5nO89G18

DAMN, RIHANNA

Daniel wasn’t the only one that had everyone saying “damn” this week. Bad Gal RiRi showed why she refers to herself as “bad.”

This week she released a video for her hit-single, “Work,” which showcases Rih’s twerking talents and shows her seductively dancing on Drake.

The video is reminiscent of the “What’s My Name” video, where you can feel the sexual tension between her and Drizzy.

Drake’s a brave man for wearing sweats in that ting.

KANYE EXERCISES HIS TWITTER FINGERS

We know how much Kanye loves Kanye but lately he’s been showing how much he loves Twitter, and how he utilizes it to voice his opinions, make announcements and vent.

This week he had the Twittersphere buzzing with excitement as he made two pretty major announcements.

On one of his tweets he said he’s dropping another album this summer and also mentioned that he spoke to ADIDAS about giving everyone a “free” pair of Yeezys.

He then vented about the GRAMMYs being “out of touch” and “the people” needing to see Young Thug and Future at the award show.

In the midst of the venting he referred to himself as, “the most important living artist.

Stay humble, ‘Ye. Stay Humble.

YO GOTTI DROPS

Memphis rapper, Yo Gotti released his fifth studio album titled, ‘The Art of Hustle’ this week.

Gotti dropped the first single off the album, “Down In the DM” last year and it has proved to be pretty successful both in the clubs, and on the Billboard charts.

“Down In the DM” is Gotti’s first song to hit top 10 on any Billboard chart.

The Tennessee native spent most of the week on a promo tour hitting many radio stations across the country and also hit Jimmy Kimmel Live to perform “Down In the DM” with Travis Barker.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6l9ASG2tEtc

The deluxe version of the album has features from: Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, Future, 2 Chainz, E-40, Pusha T and more. It is available on iTunes.

DRAKE SIGNS NEW DEAL

Drake was in the UK for the Brit Awards where he came out and performed, “Work” with Rihanna.

It turned out that was just a footnote for the 6 God in the UK, as he allegedly signed a deal with fellow rapper and close friend, Skepta’s label, BBK (Boy Better Know).

There aren’t any specific details about the deal or the terms of the contract, but Drizzy made it official as he posted it on his Instagram.

L.A. Leakers Indie Pick Of The Week : Aaron Cohen

IndiePickOfTheWeek_AaronCohen

A true abrasive MC that spits vicious, blunt thoughts over progressive, psychedelic sounds isn’t easy to find in today’s hip-hop industry.

This week’s Indie Pick of the Week, Aaron Cohen, possesses that aggressive, dark format with vocals that exude his gut-wrenching visions and lyrics that would make the average man cringe.

Cohen, has been “seriously” making music for roughly four years. As a kid he listened to a lot of rap and hip-hop music and recalls the one day he began to write his own lyrics.

“I just kind of became obsessed with putting lyrics over music. Whether it’s rapping or singing or whatever, if I hear an instrumental that I like, I just automatically start making up a song to go with it,” he said in an email. “Before that I was rapping, but just for fun, messing around with my friends.”

Cohen was born and raised in Seattle, Washington, but moved to New York City after he graduated from high school. It was in NYC where he began to go “hard” with the rapping and started putting out projects with clothing line, Mishka and Mass Appeal.

The road to success hasn’t been an easy one for Cohen, whom has been dead broke, apartment-less and jobless. Through all the adversity he has continued to stay motivated and continued to work on his craft as an artist.

“I would never complain about any of that stuff because I made a choice to enter a difficult field. I get to do what I love everyday and it’s starting to progress into something bigger than most people thought it would,” he said.

Living in New York City has really opened his eye to different realms of motivation and inspired him to go even harder in the booth.

“There’s a lot of different cultures meshed together, a lot of influences to draw from,” he said. “I have to be walking or moving when I work. I’ve been like that since I was a kid, my brain doesn’t work when I’m sitting still.”

Staying on the move is definitely something he does. He recently returned to the states after doing a promo run in France for his forthcoming EP, “Off the Ground,” which is slated to be released in March.

“My next EP, entitled “Off The Ground” is the best music I’ve made by far,” he said. “I really took my time with this project and let the sound develop naturally. Kemal produced the whole thing, so it’s got a more cohesive feel than any of my previous work.”

He credits his producer, Kemal, for being patient with him, as he says he’s very picky when it comes to beats and likes one of every hundred beats he listens to.

“Kemal cooked up some serious fire for this project, trust me,” he exclaimed. “The songs are a mix of really aggressive production and melodic hooks. The project really represents where I am right now as a person, a blend of hunger and gratitude.”

Melodic is what makes his sound different from other rappers in his opinion. He feels that Kemal’s progressive production and his strong lyrics is a knockout combination that is rare these days.

His newest single, “Psychic,” was released this week via Mishka Clothing.

Listen to it here:

The single is about staying focused, specifically on the vision in his mind, while blocking out negativity from the outside world to fully visualize his destiny.

“I just heard the beat and to me it sounded like, “get out of my face, I’m in my zone contemplating shit,” he said.

When asked who he would work with, if he could work with anybody in the industry, he mentioned Kanye West, as a producer and a rapper.

“Very few things have had a bigger impact on me than music from artists I love,” he said. “I don’t know exactly what’s next in my life, but I know if my music keeps getting better, things are going to be good.”

Kanye Rants and Drops New Song At 1OAK

Mr. “No More Parties In LA,” Kanye West made it a party at 1OAK Los Angeles, as he spontaneously dropped in and dropped new music last night for Yo Gotti’s album release party.

Prior to premiering his newest record, ‘Ye took over the mic to share an interesting story of Beanie Sigel saving his life, mentioned that Louis Vuitton offered him a deal, took shots at Apple and MediaTakeOut. He did show love and support to TIDAL, Jay-Z and Taylor Swift.

After his Kanye-ish rant he dropped a new song called, “Closet Thing To Einstein” and hinted at dropping another album in the summer.

It was a big week for music but even a bigger one for the culture.

GRAMMY RECAP

Hip-hop made its mark at the 58th Grammy Awards, as Kendrick Lamar shattered Eminem’s record for Grammy nominations with 11 of his own.

K. Dot became the first hip-hop artist with that many nominations and took home five of those, not bad for a “good kid” from a “m.A.A.d city” like Compton.

Aside from the record-breaking nominations and awards, Kendrick gave the audience a historic performance, showing he was worthy of earning the Grammy for Best Performance.

His performance displayed the electrifying jazziness his songs featured on ‘To Pimp A Butterfly’ embody, as he hobbled, shackled up across the stage.

Kendrick showed the detail he puts in his performances which has led him to his superstardom state.

From the dark purple swollen bruises on his face, to the look of a modern-day slave, to the African sax melody, it was as explosive as a Dr. Dre song.

Check out the performance:

Shoutout to the TDE.

A$AP Rocky paid major homage to the late A$AP Yams, as he hit the Grammy red carpet with Yams’ mother:

https://twitter.com/thacelebritea/status/699447811612545024

Unfortunately for Rocky he didn’t take home the Grammy for his song “L$D,” was nominated for Best Music Video. BIg ups on the nomination though.

Taylor Swift continued her Grammy dominance winning multiple awards including Album Of The Year for ‘1989.’

There were no Kanye West interruptions during her acceptance speech this time around, although she did throw shade at ‘Ye.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xPOPtQIEQt0

The Grammys are way too long of a show to air everything, so naturally things got cut out.

One of the biggest non-televised events of the night in my opinion, was the tribute to Run DMC, as they were given a lifetime achievement award.

Being that Run DMC was the first hip-hop act to EVER be nominated for a Grammy, it should’ve been aired. It would’ve made it an even bigger night for the culture. An EPIC one.

Here are some of the biggest award winners of the 58th Grammys:

Song Of The Year – Ed Sheeran, “Thinking Out Loud”

Album Of The Year – 1989, Taylor Swift

Best New Artist – Meghan Trainor

Record Of The Year – Mark Ronson f. Bruno Mars, “Uptown Funk”

Best Rap Performance – Kendrick Lamar, “Alright”

Best Rap/Sung Collaboration – Kendrick Lamar, “These Walls,”

Best Pop Solo Performance – Ed Sheeran, “Thinking Out Loud”

Best Pop Duo/Group Performance – “Uptown Funk,” Mark Ronson featuring Bruno Mars

Best Pop Vocal Album – 1989, Taylor Swift

SLAM DUNK!!

From awards to awards, the more physical of the two, was the NBA Slam Dunk contest hosted at the Air Canada Centre in the 6ix.

This year’s participants were: Zach LaVine from the Minnesota T’wolves, Aaron Gordon from the Orlando Magic, Andre Drummond of the Detroit Pistons and Will Barton of the Denver Nuggets.

The two that left a lasting impression on spectators were; Air Gordon and the reigning Slam Dunk Contest champion, Zach LaVine.

In the final round the two faced-off and there were some high expectations (no pun intended).

LaVine put on a vintage MJ dunk as he went thru the legs, then around the back and took one to the hole from the free-throw line.

Gordon, took one-off the Magic’s mascot one-handed into a 360, then a backhanded dunk off the rim to the hole.

The best dunk of the night was Gordon’s in my opinion. He flew in the air over the mascot and took the ball under his legs in a sitting formation.

It still wasn’t enough to grab him the trophy.

LaVine ended up taking the award and being crowned the NBA Slam Dunk Champion in “back-to-back” years. Very fitting with Drake in attendance and no sign of Meek.

Check out the highlights of the competition:

Do you think LaVine earned it? Tell us in the comments below or tweet us. We “wanna know.” (no pun)

KOBE’S LAST ALL-STAR GAME

The Black Mamba is celebrating his last season in the NBA and Sunday’s All-Star game marked his last one.

Kobe was the leading vote-getter coming into the game, earning his starting spot in the lineup.

The crowd shouted his name as he got introduced and ran into the smoke-filled court.

Multiple current NBA All-Stars showed their love and admiration during the game and in the press conferences.

Another Laker legend, Magic Johnson even walked to the center of the court to introduce a tribute video for Kobe, which highlighted some big moments in his All-Star career.

It was a very exciting site to see as he got guarded by LeBron James and vice-versa and even posted up former teammate, Pau Gasol.

Here are some of the highlights from Kobe’s last All-Star Game:

The Broncos beat the Panthers in SuperBowl 50 last Sunday, but the most exciting play of the night happened during the halftime show, as Beyonce, Bruno Mars and Coldplay lit up the stage.

‘Yonce did her usual slaying on stage with some breathtaking choreography and glass-shattering vocals.

The performance was one of the most controversial since Janet Jackson’s nip-slip during the 2004 halftime show.

Critics called out Beyonce for performing her newest song, “Formation,” sporting all black leather with a bullet belt resembling that of the Black Panther Party, while shouting out the Black Panthers and Malcolm X.

One Toronto official went as far as wanting to have Beyonce investigated and wanting Beyonce banned from Canada. (Not sure the Bey hive is gonna let that slide.)

The real surprise came during the first commercial after the performance which announced Beyonce’s Formation world tour.

Tickets for the Formation world tour will go on sale February 16th.

Kobe’s last Cleveland visit

Kobe Bryant continues his retirement tour as he visited LeBron and his Cleveland Cavaliers one last time in Cleveland.
He got a warm-hearted welcome and a standing ovation when he got taken out of the game.

The Lakers lost the game and Kobe didn’t put up the numbers he would’ve hoped for, as he put up 17 points, six rebounds and three dimes.

After the game Kobe met LeBron in the locker room to autograph the pair of shoes he wore in the game and gave them to James.

Respect.

Straight Into Awards

We all know the N.W.A. biopic, ‘Straight Outta Compton,’ got snubbed at the Oscars, but that didn’t stop the film from getting an award.

The 2015 smasher won Outstanding Motion Picture at the NAACP Image Awards in Pasadena, CA.

Ice Cube along with his son O’Shea Jackson Jr., director F. Gary Gray and others took the stage to show their appreciation.

No Oscar, no problem.

Dr. Dre to Star In Apple TV Series

We already know the successful relationship that exist between Dr. Dre and Apple.

Well, the relationship will continue to grow as Apple is making its first original television show which will feature Beats co-founder, Dr. Dre.

Dr. Dre is not only starring in the series but he is also the executive producer of the six-episode show which has been coined, “Vital Signs.”

It hasn’t been announced whether the series will be on Apple TV or iTunes, what is known is that the series is a semi-autobiographical focused on a “different emotion.”

Kanye Goes Big At MSG

We know how many times Kanye has changed his forthcoming album title which is now officially called, ‘TLOP.’

Ye’ hosted a combination listening party and fashion show at Madison Square Garden, where he first played the album.
In addition to debuting his album he also showed his newest collection to the Yeezy Season collection.

Mr. West also went on Twitter today to announce the album will be released today with some new songs that weren’t on the original.

L.A. Leakers Indie Pick Of The Week : Russ – “Losin Control”

unnamed

The past couple years, Atlanta has been a major breeding source for musical talent. One of the most recent and exciting artist out the “A” goes by Russ.

According to Russ’ SoundCloud account he’s been posting songs for about a year, although he’s been doing music for about 10 years.

“I’ve been making beats for 10 years,” typed Russ in a e-mail. “Always had a love and curiosity for music. My grandfather taught me guitar at 14 and that kinda opened the door for me.”

Russ who makes all his own beats and produces his own songs has many inspirations, not just limited to music.

“My inspirations kinda just come from random things. It could be music, the weather, a girl, an experience. I just try to leave myself open to all possibilities,” he wrote.

One of his newest tracks that caught my eye is, ‘Losin Control,’ a song that in his own words is about how he treated his first girlfriend and the damage it caused when she found a good guy. Something most of us can relate to.

That is the thought process behind Russ’ music, he wants to make his experiences relatable.

“[I] Write about one of my personal experiences in a way everyone could relate to,” he wrote.

‘Losin Control’, which not only comes packed with dope lyrics but also features a catchy beat has over 800,000 playbacks on SoundCloud.

Check it out:

He also recently released a music video for the song:

Russ, has already been co-signed by fellow Atlanta rapper, Waka Flocka, who brought him out at an Atlanta show.

I see Russ blowing up and look forward to seeing his musical career blossom.

Be sure to follow him on the socials @RussDiemon.

In case you were living under a rock this week here’s a rewind of what went down in hip-hop:

Drake and Meek Mill don’t appear to be ending their beef anytime soon, as the two dropped songs taking shots at one another.

The general consensus on the beef is that Drake slaughtered Meek on “Back to Back,” so he didn’t really need to put out another diss track.

However, Drizzy wants to make sure everybody knows who runs hip-hop.

His track, “Summer Sixteen” was pretty vicious with lyrics that clearly take aim at Meek, “I coulda killed you the first time/You don’t have to try to say it louder n—a,” he raps.

Meek came right back the same day and dropped, “War Pain,” which was a pretty effective response to “Summer Sixteen,” and even referenced lines from the song.

“War Pain” was the kind of response the people were waiting for from Meek. The drums on the beat make you feel the wrath of Meek’s signature delivery.

Check out the tracks:

This beef doesn’t appear to be ending anytime soon. Stay tuned.

SQUASHING THE BEEF

The Wiz Khalifa, Kanye West beef does seem to be over, as does the Amber Rose, Kim Kardashian beef.

Kanye who took jabs at Wiz and even talked about his son, apparently regrets the tweets which have since been deleted.

According to a Kanye tweet, him and Wiz spoke and agreed to squash the beef.

L.A. Leakers Weekly Rewind Jan 23 – Jan 29th (News)

LEAKERS_REWIND
As the first month of the year is coming to a close, it is shaping up to be a good year in Hip-Hop. The culture is alive and well, although not all positive.

This week Kanye made a big announcement regarding his upcoming album. He announced the title and even posted a track-list to go with it.

Kanye being Kanye had a change of heart and switched the title from ‘SWISH’ to ‘WAVES’. This led to a reaction from Wiz Khalifa, who happens to be a major supporter of incarcerated Harlem rapper, Max B., the originator of the “wave”.

Wiz responded by tweeting, “Max B is the wavy one. He created the wave. There is no wave without him.” That resulted in Mr. West going on a full Twitter spiel taking shots at Wiz.

I know you didn’t think Amber was going to stay quiet:

#GotEem

Amber’s BFF, Blac Chyna also made headlines this week.

Chyna is rumored to be dating the only male Kardashian, Rob. Tyga is dating Rob’s sister, Kylie, who is feuding with Chyna, Tyga’s baby’s mom. The whole thing is just a big paradox.

This image should help give you a better understanding of the whole situation:

I know, I know. It’s confusing.

Now back to the music.

#RihannaNavy rejoice!

Rihanna wasn’t the only one to drop this week, as fellow Roc Nation label-mate, J. Cole released the ‘Forrest Hills Drive Live’ album on his 31st birthday.

The album includes live versions of the entire Grammy-nominated ‘2014 Forrest Hills Drive,’ along with classics; “Lights Please,” “In The Morning,” and “Nobody’s Perfect.”

Cole being the warm-hearted person that he is, selected for fans to hand-deliver the album to before it being released.

Gotta love Cole.

If you’re a Lakers fan you have to love Shaq, a.k.a., Superman, a.k.a., The Diesel a.k.a., The Big Aristotle, a.k.a., The Big Sidekick, okay you get it.

In all seriousness, Shaq was one of the greatest Lakers to ever set foot on any hardwood court in Los Angeles.

The Lakers are finally paying him homage, as it was announced they’re honoring the big guy with a statue outside the STAPLES Center, where he celebrated three NBA Championships with the team.

“We look forward to having Shaq join the other legends who have been honored with statues at STAPLES Center,” said Jeanie Buss, Lakers president and co-owner, in a statement to ESPN.

Shaq was surprised when he learned about it on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” and mentioned that if it does happen he would go into the NBA Hall of Fame as a Laker.
