It’s with a very heavy heart and tears in my eyes that I write this. Nipsey Hussle is dead at the age of 33 after being shot in front of his Marathon store today.
According to law enforcement he and two other men were shot by one suspect outside his Marathon Clothing store in the Crenshaw District. EMTs performed CPR on the scene before taking him to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. The suspect remains at large while details continue to unfold and an investigation is underway.
Hours before the unfortunate incident Nipsey tweeted, “Having strong enemies is a blessing.”
Nipsey leaves behind his daughter Emani and a two-and-a-half-year-old son named Kross. Prayers up for his girlfriend Lauren London, his kids, family and friends.
Last year Nipsey received his first-ever Grammy nomination for his critically-acclaimed debut album ‘Victory Lap’. In the community he was loved and praised for his kind heart and always looking to help others. Destination Crenshaw, an open-air museum honoring African-American artistic achievement, owned a Fatburger around the corner, recently bought the lot where he was killed and had big plans for it.
He was not only a rapper but also a leader, philanthropist, visionary, businessman, mogul, father, brother, son, uncle, friend, and someone who made it his mission to motivate and inspire. He was a pillar and a fountain of success and what kids in every inner-city should embody.
Rest in peace Nipsey, gone but never will you be forgotten.
He’s received nothing but praise from his peers on Instagram and Twitter.
