The young homies Villain Park deliver their new single “Cold Game,” which brings that heavy G-Funk sound. Smoke and Bunge stay true to the LAnd with proper West Coast raps over the bass heavy production.
We haven’t got any music from Casey Veggies in a minute but we know he’s been tucked away in the studio working. In what could be the start of an album rollout, Casey drops his new single titled “100 Times.”
“I can do this shit 100 times / Feel like Weezy F cause Baby, it’s money on my mind / I love the grind,” he raps.
If you thought Cozz was just going to drop his ‘Effected’ album and disappear, guess again. Adding more substance to his previously-released debut album, the Dreamville rapper comes back with his “Effected” documentary, where gets personal.
In the documentary Cozz discusses his come up in the hip-hop game, goes back to his old neighborhood in South Central LA, talks to people from his neighborhood, where he grew up, what his home used to look like, and more. The rapper also gives viewers a behind the scene look at the creation of ‘Effected’ and what’s led him to this point.
Every week shouldn’t be a surprise when we come thru with a fire freestyle to add to our already impressive series, that many try to imitate, but none can really replicate. Whether it’s a known name or an up-and-comer, everyone we’ve had so far has been heat. None of these will get bashed in the comments section anywhere.
This week Justin Credible and DJ Sourmilk brought in LA rap duo Villain Park, who came thru the Power 106 #LIFTOFF show and shot off some crazy impressive bars over Dr. Dre’s classic “Deep Cover” instrumental.
With palm trees all around him, Dave East shows how deep he rolls in the video for “30 N****z.”
East goes from the east to the West Coast as he chills in different parts of LA ranging from MLK Park to his projects in New York. On both coasts, East looks to be good as he kicks it with his folks. “30 N****z” is off last year’s ‘Kairi Chanel’.
After making his acting debut last night on BET’s “Being Mary Jane,” East is looking forward to hitting the road, as he will join Kid Ink in overseas for the European leg of the “#UpAllNight” tour. The second leg of the tour will kick off on March 10th in Germany and culminate on April 15th in Manchester.
Even with all the success of their single “Black Beatles” featuring Gucci Mane, Rae Sremmurd continues to release visuals for singles off their recent album, ‘SremmLife 2’.
Both Slim Jxmmi and Swae Lee showcase their lavish lifestyle as they kick it in a mansion in the hills overlooking the city.
As the year comes to a close, we look back on artist’s year and this duo had a pretty good one with their single “Black Beatles” earning them their first No. 1 record.
An unfortunate shooting broke out at T.I.’s concert in New York City earlier this week that lead to three shot and one murdered.
The man murdered was Ronald McPhatter, 33, a member of Troy Ave’s BSB entourage. McPhatter was an associate of Troy’s and also his personal trainer.
In a video released by the venue you can see Troy retaliating for the shooting of his deceased friend. Troy was later charged with attempted murder for shooting in an open club.
T.I. had nothing to do with the shooting and later released a statement on his socials that read:
Let’s hope senseless acts of violence like this don’t continue in the future.
GUCCI MANE RELEASED
For months hip-hop fans tweeted and sported shirts that read “Free Gucci.” This week the Atlanta rapper was released from a federal correctional facility in Terre Haute, Indiana, after serving roughly 39 months on weapons charges.
Guwop is known to be a workhorse and wasted no time getting back to work. In less than 24 hours of being free, he released a track titled “First Day Out Tha Feds,” which was followed up with a mixtape.
‘First Day Out Tha Feds’ the mixtape dropped last night at fittingly, 10:17 p.m. — an homage to the rapper’s 1017 Bricksquad label.
In just one day the mixtape was streamed over a million times! Good to see Gucci back out here. Stream the full mixtape below:
THE WEEKND & BELLY CANCEL APPEARANCE ON KIMMEL
Apparently YG and Nipsey Hussle aren’t the only two names in hip-hop that feel a certain way about Donald Trump. The Weeknd and Belly recently canceled their scheduled performance on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ because they didn’t want to be associated with the Republican delegate according to The Associated Press.
Both XO artists were in LA this week to record their performance for the song “Might Not” before learning Trump was going to be on the same episode causing them to pull out. Read Belly’s statement below:
“I feel like the way I was raised was to be able to see through all the titles in this world — from religion to race,” Belly said in a statement. “I just didn’t want to feel like I was a part of a celebration for somebody who has beliefs that majority of us don’t agree with.”
“I’m here on a campaign of positivity and love and to contribute what I can to music,” Belly continued. “I create songs people go to sleep and wake up to, songs that they fall in love to. For me, being Muslim and being somebody that appreciates my access here in America, I love the fact that I’m able to be here. To play my part in this business is a privilege and a beautiful thing. The fact that I could lose that ability through the actions of someone such as Donald Trump isn’t right to me. At all.”
Nice to see artists with their stature take a stance.
ALL THE WAY UP REMIXES
One of the hottest songs of the year is Fat Joe & Remy Ma’s “All The Way Up,” produced by Cool & Dre.
When a song is as hot as “All The Way Up” everyone wants to hop on the remix or spit something to it. This week Jay-Z dropped some solid bars over the instrumental for the “official remix.”
Jigga wasn’t the only one to spit bars over the cold beat as Meek Mill and Fabolous also had a remix of their own, followed by Jadakiss.
Listen to all the remixes below and tell us in the comments which one you think is best.

L.A. TO HOST SUPERBOWL
The last time the Superbowl was hosted in L.A. was 1980! This week it was announced that the city will be hosting the event in 2021.
That’s a major victory for a city that finally got a NFL team after a drought of over 20 years. It came as no surprise tho with L.A. being a major market and a very attractive city.
Can’t wait to take part in all the festivities and the full experience. It’s gonna be litty!
