Rae Sremmurd made history with their performance of “Black Beatles” on “The Tonight Show Starring Steve Colbert” last night. Both Slim Jxmmi and Swae Lee, performed their No. 1 single exactly 53 years after The Beatles made their television debut at New York City’s Ed Sullivan Theater.

Aside from making history it is worth noting that it was the duos first time performing on “The Tonight Show Starring Steve Colbert.”

“Black Beatles” was the duo’s first No. 1 hit and became a sensation after radio stations all over the world picked the single up and played it heavily. The single was also a hit in nightclubs and eventually went viral with the Mannequin Challenge, giving it more clout.

Don’t be playing when you see Rae Sremmurd spending cash. The duo show what they wanna see when they throw bands in the video for “Shake It Fast” featuring Juicy J.

The video for the single lives up to the name as Slim Jxmmi, Swae Lee, and Juicy do it big by throwing bills to the several voluptuous women shaking what they got fast at a Beverly Hills pool party, fully equipped with water guns.

“Shake It Fast” is off Rae Sremmurd’s ‘SremmLife 2’ album, which also includes the No. 1 song “Black Beatles” featuring Gucci Mane. “Black Beatles” is on its third consecutive week atop of the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

If you’re familiar with The Beatles, you know they were one of the greatest rock bands ever. They were also the inspiration behind Rae Sremmurd’s “Black Beatles” single off their sophomore album, ‘Sremm Life 2’.

The single featuring Gucci Mane and produced by Mike WiLL-Made It, has shot up from No. 9 to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, passing The Chainsmokers for the top spot. “Black Beatles” is not only Rae Sremmurd’s first No. 1 hit, it is also Mike WiLL-Made It and Gucci Mane’s first.

Mike WiLL, whom was discovered by Gucci and ironically discovered Rae Sremmurd, shared his experience with Billboard saying, “To be able to put Gucci Mane, the person that gave me my first opportunity in music, and Rae Sremmurd, the debut artist from my [imprint, Eardrummer], on what’s both [Rae Sremmurd and Gucci Mane’s] biggest record ever, and the first Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 for both, is something I could have never imagined or dreamed of.”

It is worth noting that the recent Mannequin Challenge viral frenzy has helped the song jump up eight spots and contributed to sales and streams.
