Joey Bada$$ & XXXtentaction Put Their Twist On “King’s Dead” [LISTEN]

Some how, some way talented New York rapper Joey Bada$$ ends up on a record with Florida clout chaser, XXXtentaction. Both artists collaborate and put their twist on Jay Rock’s “King’s Dead” single off ‘Black Panther: The Album’, the soundtrack for Marvel’s “Black Panther” movie.

Badmon kicks things off with braggadocio raps about being the “youngest under 30 on the Forbes list” and address the king of New York conversation by rapping, “You n****s worried ’bout the crown, worried ’bout the crown / Fuck it, you can tell them clowns they can keep it.”

Many believe that was a dig at fellow New York rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine and although it might be, this is not the kind of blog where stuff gets stirred up like a cocktail. You be the judge for yourself.

New Music: Joey Bada$$ – “Thugz Cry” [LISTEN]

When Joey Bada$$ performed a twist of Prince’s “When Doves Cry” last month, many people were shocked that the Pro Era rapper was able to pull it off. The remake “Thugz Cry” was such a sensation that Joey released the official single today.

Can’t explain the pain, all I know is chains / All I know is whips, and all I know is gang / Don’t even know my name, and the place from which you came / Ni**as love to talk, but ni**as never change,” raps Joey reflecting on violence, racism, and the fight for freedom.

New Music: Post Malone – “Rockstar” (Original) Feat. Joey Bada$$ & T-Pain [LISTEN]

In 2017 Post Malone may not have dropped his highly-anticipated ‘Beerbongs & Bentleys’ album. That did not stop him from earning a No. 1 and having a big anthem in his 21 Savage-assisted “Rockstar” single, which has been moving everywhere.

Yesterday, Joey Bada$$ admitted to co-writing the single on his Twitter account and today the official, original version of the song was leaked. The original version subtracts 21 and adds Joey and auto-tune genius, T-Pain.

Screen Shot 2017-10-26 at 2.24.26 PM

As part of BBC Radio 1’s “Piano Series,” Joey Bada$$ paid homage to hip-hop legends, Jay Z and Nas with a tribute mashup.

Joined by British musician, Dave, who played a piano rendition of Hov’s classic debut ‘Reasonable Doubt’, Badmon performed the hook from Nas’ 1994 single, “The World Is Yours,” off his ‘Illmatic’ debut album. The combination of the classic was paired with Joey’s “Amerikkkan Idol” single off his most recent album, ‘All AmeriKKKan Bada$$’.

The powerful performance was Joey’s “message for the world” as he continued to rap, “Watch out / Another ni**a runnin’ in the White House / But I won’t stop ’til this whole shit painted in all black.”

New Album: Joey Bada$$ – ‘All-Amerikkkan Bada$$’ [STREAM]

jb-all-amerikkkan-badass

If you’re a fan of real hip-hop, Joey Bada$$ has exactly what you need on his new album ‘All-Amerikkkan Bada$$’. ‘AABA’ follows Joey’s 2015 debut album ‘B4.DA.$$’ and sheds light on several social, racial, and political issues.

The album is loaded with 12-tracks and features from some of the game’s illest lyricist like J. Cole on “Legendary,” ScHoolboy Q on “Rockabye Baby,” Styles P on “Super Predator,” and Kirk Knight, Nyck Caution, and Meechy Darko of Flatbush Zombies on “Ring the Alarm.”

‘All-Amerikkkan Bada$$’ also includes the lead single “Devastated,” which has become a motivational anthem and the politically-charged “Land of the Free,” where Joey delivers a gut-wrenching message for Donald Trump and preaches advancement overall.

When discussing the album with Beats1 Joey said, “The real side of me, just the human side of me was feeling connected to it ’cause I felt so close to it. The musician side of me started feeling responsible, not responsible for what was happening, but responsible on how we can change it. How we could bring more awareness to certain situations. This project, I’m glad you said it, it’s about my experience as a black man in America, but it’s not just my experience. It’s your experience.”
