Even with all the success Bryson Tiller’s freshman album ‘Trapsoul’ had it never reached No. 1. However, it didn’t take long for Bryson to score his first chart-topping album, with his sophomore offering ‘True to Self’ taking the top spot.

Pen Griffey released the album a whole month early and still managed to score his first-ever No. 1 album on the Billboard 200, selling 107,000 equivalent album units (47,000 traditional) in its first week. ‘True to Self’ also reached 57,000 streaming equivalent albums and 2,000 track equivalent albums.

Kendrick Lamar’s ‘DAMN.’ follows Tiller’s latest offering. Lil Yachty’s ‘Teenage Emotions’ also peaked on the Billboard 200, coming in at No. 5. Yachty sold 46,000 units (20,000 traditional) and had the second highest debut behind ‘True to Self’.

Next up for Pen Griffey he will be headlining his “Set It Off Tour” along with supporting acts H.E.R. and Metro Boomin.

Bryson Tiller Drops ‘True To Self’ A Month Early [STREAM]

SURPRISE, SURPRISE!

With a whole month to spare, Bryson Tiller surprises fans by dropping his sophomore offering, ‘True to Self’. Earlier this week the ‘Trapsoul’ crooner announced he would be dropping June 23rd and shared a track list with no features listed.

The follow-up to 2015’s ‘Trapsoul’ is led by the single “Somethin Tells Me,” where he showcases his vocal skills. Throughout the album he exhibits his skills as a singer, songwriter, and even a rapper. On “Blowing Smoke” in particular Pen Griffey flexes with some intense barz.

Earlier this week with the track listing, I made some speculation that Drake and Travis Scott would contribute to the album. There is no Drake contribution, and Travis Scott collaborates with the production of “Don’t Get Too High,” but doesn’t sound off with a hook or verse.

“When you are being true to yourself, you are completely honest with what you feel, deeply value, and desire,” Bryson said. “It also means communicating your feelings wholeheartedly both with yourself and others, allowing your truth to flow through you and into the world.”

Along with the album, Bryson shared the video for the lead single “Somethin Tells Me.” In the video he plays the role of a photographer as he photographs a plethora of sexy models.

Bryson Tiller Reveals Track Listing For Forthcoming Album ‘True To Self’ [PEEP]

bryson-tiller-true-to-self

When Bryson Tiller announced his forthcoming album ‘True to Life’ fans were in complete awe. Now with a little less than a month remaining for Pen Griffey to drop the follow-up to the critcally-acclaimed, ‘Trapsoul’, he shares the track listing for his next offering.

‘True to Life’, which will be released June 23rd, is comprised of 19-tracks including the lead single “Somethin Tells Me”. The other two tracks he dropped when he announced the album, “Honey” and “Get Mine” featuring Young Thug do not appear.

The track listing also withholds features with only song titles being listed. However, following the announcement, Travis Scott tweeted, “Don’t Get Too High. Young tiller let’s get it. Can’t wait for this album,” alluding he is featured on “Don’t Get Too High”. Instant banger.

Back in December Pen Griffey also tweeted he was in the studio with Drake, meaning that’s another potential feature. Especially considering there was no Tiller feature on ‘More Life’.

If ‘True to Self’ is anything like Tiller’s freshman project ‘Trapsoul’, you can absolutely expect another solid offering. ‘Trapsoul’ peaked at No. 8 on Billboard’s 200 went platinum last April.

Bryson Tiller Announces New Album ‘True To Self’ & Drops 3 New Singles [PEEP]

Bryson Tiller has been on a bit of a hiatus since releasing his critically-acclaimed ‘Trapsoul’ debut project. Today the R&B superstar has made waves (a damn near tsunami) with the announcement of his new, forthcoming album ‘True to Self’.

There’s not many details on the album aside from the fact he will be dropping it on June 23rd. The cover art shows different stages of Bryson’s life from a child to now. It is reminiscent of MTV’s “True Life” show intro.

Along with the big announcement, Bryson released three new songs. The first “Honey” was released earlier today before he announced the album. The other two songs were released shortly after the pre-order for the album was made available.

The other two singles are the T-minus-produced “Somethin’ Tells Me”, which sounds like a No. 1 record. On the song he talks about heartbreak and a possible reconciliation. Young Thug is featured on the other song called “Get Mine”, where Pen Griffey goes in on all his haters.
