Kris Kasanova – 24K (Mixtape)

24K

Brooklyn bred emcee Kris Kasanova released his third project, 24K, with features from Skeme, Flatbush Zombies, World’s Fair, just to name a few, and production provided by DJ Dahi, Canei Finch, THX and more. “I worked on this project for over a year, and I tried my best to capture to energy of the experiences along the way,” wrote Kris in a personalized post along with his mixtape release. On another note, “Kasanova” (track #13) is a dope track! The track’s producer Canei Finch also produced Kendrick Lamar’s “Westside, Right On Time.”

Frank Ocean – Eyes Like Sky (Audio)

Frank Ocean

After a couple Grammy nominations (later turning into wins) and a stunning debut album, Frank Ocean has had a hell of a 2012. This year, we know he’s 10-11 tracks in on a follow-up that will pick up as a sequel to his debut Channel Orange. Though this record is not a new release but a rumored Channel Orange leftover, “Eyes Like Sky” is nice reminder of how awesome Frank Ocean’s storytelling is through his music.

The L.A.-based crooner will be heading to Bora Bora to finish recording his sophomore album. Let’s hope for another leak soon.

French Montana Recalls Life Changing Moment On “The Genesis” (Video)

On this premiere episode of “The Genesis,” Jay-Z’s Life+Times walks with rapper French Montana as he tells the story about the life changing moment when he decided to leave the streets and enter the rap world.

“The Genesis” shows a human side of French Montana. We forget rappers and other artists have their own history that have either driven them to success or will lead them to their downfall. Can’t wait to see more episodes that Life + Times has in store.

THURZ ft. Willie B. & Glasses Malone – Gravedigger (Audio)

Gravedigger

THURZ, Willie B. and Glasses Malone throw down three gritty verses on the THX-produced “Gravediggers.” You might have previously heard the track on Lowkey (YouHearThatNew) and Chris Paul’s (L.A. Clippers) mixtape, The Mission, but THURZ decided to release the untagged version for you to sit with. Let this one simmer as THURZ puts the final touches on his forthcoming album, Blood On The Canvas.

Behind The Scenes: Kid Ink ft. Wale & Meek Mill – Bad Ass (Pictures)

Bad Ass

Kid Ink’s “Bad Ass,” the first official single since signing to RCA Records, has been blowing up the airwarves with it’s catch hook and pompous lyrics. From the looks of the pictures taken on the set of the upcoming video, director Alex Nazari has Kid Ink, Wale and Meek Mill rap in front of a fire, carefully controlled by dainty females in fire firefighting gear. We’ll have to wait and see if they drop it down the pole “like there’s a fire” in the visual dropping soon.

Mac Miller ft. Prodigy – Confessions Of A Cash Register (Audio)

Mac Miller

Mac Miller’s been in a record-releasing mood lately. Mainly tracks that are unassociated with his upcoming sophomore album.

“Confessions Of A Cash Register” was released by Mac via Twitter about a week ago. Not sure how I missed a Prodigy feature and Alchemist co-production with Mac’s beatmaking alter ego Larry Fisherman. The free release is not attached to a major project but it sure has us ready to hear what Mac has cookin’ up on Pharrell-collab project, Pink Slime, and on his future sophomore album, Watching Movies With The Sound Off.

Snoop Dogg and Suge Knight Reunite (News)

Suge Knight & Snoop Dogg Reunite

They’re not announcing an official business venture or anything of the sort but after years of beefing, West Coast players Snoop Dogg Lion and former CEO of Death Row Records Suge Knight played nice at party (Instagram never lies). Here’s what went down. According to TMZ, Snoop performed at AV Nightclub in L.A., Suge stopped by to watch and after the performance, he partied it up with former pal Snoop. We’re assuming the IG flick, with the caption “N d club wit Suge miss those death row days!,” was taken some time during the partying.

Whether or not this means all has been forgiven, it looks like a spiritually-englightened Snoop Lion doesn’t have the intention of continuing the hate. It’s all love, people.
