Kendrick Lamar and SZA are making their rounds during Awards season and they’re adding a Oscar nomination to their resume after being nominated for Best Original Song for their mega hit “All The Stars” from the blockbuster film “Black Panther.”
If all the stars do come out to play and all the stars do align they will be competing against Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper’s “Shallow” from the film ‘A Star Is Born’, Marc Shaiman’s “The place Where Lost Things Go” from the motion picture ‘Mary Poppins Returns’, David Rawlings and Gillian Welch’s “When A Cowboy Trades His Spurs For Wings” from the film ‘The Ballad of Buster Scruggs’ and last but not least Diane Warren’s “I’ll Fight” from ‘RBG’.
This year has been amazing for the ‘Black Panther’ cast and collaborators of the soundtrack securing nominations at the Golden Globes as well as the Grammy’s and now seven nominations at the Oscars including Best Picture, Original Song, Original Score, Sound Editing, Sound Mixing, Production Design, and Costume Design.
If Kendrick Lamar can somehow pull off this win for Best Original Song he will add an Academy Award to his trophy shelf along with his 12 Grammys and Pulitzer Prize and that right there is a stamp of legacy. Best of luck to K. Dot and SZA on grabbing this prestigious award!
Good luck Dot and SZA!
