Justin Credible’s Album Spotlight Of The Week: ‘Uptown Special’

unnamed-1

So this past week Mark Ronson released his album titled “Uptown Special”. The album is very musical and something definitely you can groove and vibe to. This is the perfect groove for me right now. The sound is so refreshing with a vintage twist. I mean c’mon the album starts with STEVIE WONDER!

Quick rundown on Mark before we get into this album review, Ronson isn’t new to the music world.
He last released an album in 2010 titled Record Collection. His new album “Uptown Special” can also be viewed as just that, a record collection. Ronson who is also a fellow DJ has taken the task of bringing together top notch artists and songwriters to create quality music. Inspiring!!!

This dude has an incredible resumé when it comes to producing. He’s helped create songs for artists like the late Amy Winehouse, Adele, and Bruno Mars just to name a few.

So let’s get into this album,

I was wondering what kind of album “Uptown Special” was going to be before my first listen, just by looking at the credits I could tell that it’s an album filled with diverse, yet tasteful tracks.

From the jump this album has features that are definitely top notch. Ranging from Bruno Mars, Mystikal, to STEVIE WONDER!

One of my favorite songs on this album is an easy call, “Uptown Funk” is an undeniable hit. Bruno Mars was the perfect fit and Mark Ronson produced a timeless song that will uplift the vibes at any moment as soon as you press play. This is one of my most popular songs on the radio and in the clubs.

It doesn’t take a genius to realize that “Uptown Special” is designed to be a successful album. I feel like it’s the perfect mix of Rock, funk, and soul. If you love vintage R&B anywhere from the 70’s to the 90’s and everything in between then this is definitely an album you should go grab.

Justin Credible’s Album Spotlight of the Week: Mailbox Money

My guy Nipsey Hussle continues to feed the streets with his new project titled Mailbox Money. Coming off the success with “Crenshaw” he brings his bars and the West coast vibe to the next level with this new project. I feel like Mailbox Money is the type of album that provides lyrical tricks with ease. Nip explains the often hard times of finding the balance between pleasing his day-one fans while at the same time extending a warm welcome to potential new listeners.

Ok, let’s get into some songs I’m feeling off the new album.

A couple songs that I’m feeling are “Overtime”, and “Real Moves”. In Overtime Nip raps “they say it’s 6 degrees in life, opportunity, preparation, they meet is nice”. I can feel that because I think once you get that opportunity you should be prepared for it. When you’re prepared, you get a great outcome. “Real Moves” is just a great song all around. It features Leimert Park’s own Dom Kennedy and they both bring solid bars. Nip slid in a quick gem on this song that goes “I sleep light but I dream big, I tend to talk less because I see things.” That’s a bar there.

My dude Nip has always been a businessman when it comes to releasing his music. This project is no exception. Hussle is selling the album 3 different ways. You can buy one of the super limited physical copies through his Proud 2 Pay campaign for a rack ($1,000), you can go on ITunes and grab it for only $10, or go on DatPiff and get it for FREE.

Keeping it all the way real, if I had a rack laying around in my shoe box I would have definitely paid for it. For now I had to stick with iTunes for mine. However you get it, go support the homie Nipsey!

Justin Credible’s Album Spotlight of the Week : SremmLife

unnamed-1

Rae Sremmurd kicked off 2015 with the release of their debut album SremmLife executive produced by Mike Will Made It. The album brings new features from Nicki Minaj, Big Sean, and others. I really enjoyed listening to this album, everything from the catchy melodies to the hot rap bars that we can talk about in the barbershops.

The guys came to the scene last year with arguably one of the biggest Hip-Hop single debuts of the year with “No Flex Zone”. They had everyone singing “They Knooooow Better” every time I played the record in my sets.

After their successful debut, I was curious to hear what else they could follow up with. Could they keep the successful streak going???
Sure enough they came with a huge hit for the second half of the year with “No Type”. That song is still an automatic play right now for me. Nothing like watching a room full of hot chicks singing “I ain’t got no type”.

Right before the year ended they dropped another smash alongside Nicki titled “Throw Sum Mo”. These kids were 3 for 3! I couldn’t be more impressed! I really think these dudes are definitely here to stay.

Now, they’ve released a full body of work and definitely have delivered more songs for us to enjoy and for me to drop in the clubs. My 2 favorite songs off the album are “Come Get Her“ and “Unlock The Swag”.

“Come Get Her” is one of those songs you can either play in your car riding around the city or at a strip club. “Unlock the Swag” is that song that automatically makes you feel like the man with all the swag.

Other notable tracks that I’m rockin’ with are “My X” and “Up Like Trump”. The Mississippi duo is making noise and are definitely artists to watch for in 2015.

Make sure you go cop that SremmLife album on iTunes.
