On J. Cole’s song “Neighbors” off last year’s ‘4 Your Eyez Only’, the Dreamville rapper goes into full detail about one of his real life neighbors, who called the cops on him and said he was growing weed and selling drugs out of the house.

The video, which was teased on Cole’s HBO special, “4 Your Eyez Only” shows actual footage from SWAT team officers raiding The Sheltuh in North Carolina, where Jermaine recorded his last album and spends a lot of his time at when in NC.

New Music: J. Cole – “Want You To Fly” [LISTEN]

4-your-eyez-only-doc

J. Cole’s “4 Your Eyez Only” HBO documentary-special premiered on HBO Saturday night. During the special the Dreamville rapper premiered some new heat. The uplifting single is unnamed and has not yet hit digital retailers but based on the ending, where the rapper sings, “want you to fly / want you to fly,” I’m going out on a limb and assuming that’s the title.

The clip goes back-and-forth between a church service and a forest where Cole raps and is shown sporting a sweater that says, “we need leaders”. On the track Cole raps about this generation’s social media obsession, his people’s hunger to shine, needing leaders, and more.

Cole also pays a visit to people in his hometown of Fayetteville, North Carolina and his father’s hometown of Jonesboro, Arkansas.

Co-directed by Scott Lazer and Cole himself, the 1-hour special will air Saturday, April 15th, at 10 p.m. EST. Watch the documentary below.

J. Cole Announces 57-City “4 Your Eyez Only Tour” [PEEP]

coleeyez-630x354

Last October J. Cole told the crowd at the Meadows Music Festival in New York City, that it would be his “last show for a very long time.” Cole put that notion to an end today, by announcing his global 57-city “4 Your Eyez Only Tour.”

Cole will celebrate the music off his chart-topping ‘4 Your Eyez Only’ album with the tour that will begin at The Music Farm in Columbia, South Carolina. The tour will make stops at major markets like LA, NYC, ATL, Houston, and Chicago.

Following the final US stop on August 20th in Dallas, Texas, Cole will embark on a journey overseas, where he will visit the UK, Switzerland, Germany, Holland, Sweden, and Australia.

Every song on the ‘4 Your Eyez Only’ album, made it on the Billboard Hot 100 chart upon its release in December of last year.

Cole’s last tour was in 2015 for his “2014 Forrest Hills Drive Tour,” which was led off by small shows in select cities, as part of the “Dollar and A Dream” movement. There’s been rumors that Cole will also be doing more of those in select cities during this trek.

Pre-sale tickets for the “4 Your Eyez Only Tour” will go on sale through Dreamville starting tomorrow at noon PST. Tickets will go on sale to the general public this Friday. Visit Dreamville.com for more info.

ab-soul-dwtw

Fans have been asking for an Ab-Soul album all year and the TDE rapper finally delivers his fourth studio album, ‘DWTW’ (‘Do What Thou Wilt), the follow-up to his 2014 project, ‘These Days…’.

On the 16-track album, Soulo called on some familiar faces for contributions. Fellow TDE rappers, ScHoolboy Q on “Beat the Case” and SZA on “The Law Prelude.” Mac Miller is also featured on “Threatening Nature,” Bas on “Braille,” and Da$h on “Huey Knew.”

Soul described the album as “a love story” while also saying it is a “woman appreciation album.”

Stream the full album below via Apple Music.

Aside from dropping the album Ab hinted at a Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole collaborative album. While on “The Breakfast Club” this morning the rapper said, “They got it. They got something in the works. They’ve been working on that motherfu**er for a while.” Reffering to the potential Lamar/Cole tape.

J. Cole Drops Videos For “False Prophets” & “Everybody Dies” [WATCH]

j-cole

If you watched J. Cole’s “Eyez” documentary you saw the videos for both of J. Cole’s new singles, “False Prophets” and “Everybody Dies.” Both songs won’t be making Cole’s forthcoming ‘4 Your Eyez Only’ album, but he still released the videos and put the singles on all digital platforms.

On “False Prophets” the Dreamville rapper takes shots at Drake over ghost writing allegations, calls out Kanye for falling from grace, and Wale for being overly emotional and not counting his blessings. In the video he rides a city bus around the city and showcases diversity of people in his town. Watch below.

On the second release “Everybody Dies,” Cole continues his onslaught by sending subliminal shots at various “rappers” like Lil’ Yachty, Lil’ Uzi, and anyone with a “Lil” in their name for that matter. Watch the video below.

In an interview with J. Cruz at Power 106’s Cali Christmas, Lil’ Yachty told the homie that “it was cool” and he didn’t really care because he doesn’t listen to Cole’s music.

“I don’t listen to J. Cole. I definitely listened to it. It flooded my shit. It was everywhere. People said he was talking about me. I listened to it. He said Lil. I’m not little. My name has Lil in it but there’s a lot of Lil rappers. [It’s] either me or Uzi. Honestly, I don’t give a fuck,” said Yachty.

Cole’s ‘4 Your Eyez Only’ drops this Friday on all digital platforms. Yesterday Cole shared the tracklist for the album. Check it out below.

New Music: Wale – “Groundhog Day” (J. Cole Response) [LISTEN]

wale-groundhog-day-680x680

Every hip-hop head is talking about J. Cole’s new song “False Prophets” and how he might’ve sent shots at Drake, Kanye West, Wale, and others.

Wale is the first to respond with a track to Cole on “Groundhog Day.” The MMG rapper spits about a lot of personal stuff, while also taking shots at Cole and other rappers with “Crooked Smiles” over the Jake One production.

Stay tuned for other responses which should follow. This is what hip-hop should be. It’s a sport and I’m a supporter for all non-violent beef.

QUOTABARZ

“The most highly underrated of my generation / behind them crooked smiles n****z neglect to embrace it.”

“I remember me and Cole would open for Hov / Everyday a star is born I guess I died in the womb.”

“You throwing little shots, we catching some cases / Lot of niggas hate to love me or they love to hate me”

“I drop my jewels, spit my bars, I get mine off, I be pissed off / Should get more props but still I / Pimp hard, drink hard liquor to forget my thoughts.”

J. Cole Drops ‘Eyez’ Documentary [WATCH]

j-cole-eyez

Following the sudden announcement of his fourth studio album, ‘4 Your Eyez Only’, J. Cole released a 40-minute documentary on TIDAL titled ‘Eyez’. In the documentary the Dreamville rapper shares the recording process of his forthcoming album. Taking viewers inside his secret studio and previewing some of the songs that will be on the album.

One of the songs shared, “False Prophets,” stirred up crazy hype after listeners interpreted some of the lyrics as potential shots at Drake, Kanye West, Wale, Lil’ Yachty, and any rapper with the word “Lil” in their name.

“Maybe it’s my fault for idolizing n****s based off the words they be rapping / When come to find out these ni**as don’t even write their shit / Hear some new style bubbling up, then they bite that shit,” he raps on the song.

Cole also talks about his mindset going in to create the album saying, “You get to this height or this level in your career, in terms of platform, the next one might go down, it could go up,” he says. “You’re never guaranteed to be this high again. While I’m here, let me use this opportunity to say the realest shit I’ve ever said.”

Another topic Cole talks about in the documentary is staying away from the spotlight and keeping to himself. He admits he’s very detached because he doesn’t go on social media, read headlines, and isn’t in the news.

“It’s family and fucking music. If I’m not allowing myself to feel what people are feeling, then of course I’m gonna lose sight of that original inspiration,” he says.

‘4 Your Eyez Only’ follows 2014’s double platinum 2014 Forest Hills Drive. It is available for pre-order now on iTunes.

J. Cole To Release New Album ‘4 Your Eyez Only’ Next Week [PEEP]

j-cole-4-your-eyez-only

December 9th marks the 2-year anniversary of J. Cole’s most successful body of work, ‘2014 Forest Hills Drive’. On the same day the Dreamville rapper will release his fourth studio album ‘4 Your Eyez Only.’

In the same fashion that Cole released ‘2014 Forest Hills Drive’, he’ll release his new album — with no promotion, marketing plan, or radio single. Last month ‘2014 Forest Hills Drive’ earned a double platinum RIAA certification after selling over 2-million units. It’s worth noting he was able to acheive that with no features.

It’s still to be seen if ‘4 Your Eyez Only’ will include any features, as the only information we have is the artwork and the iTunes pre-order link showing it will offer 10 songs.

https://twitter.com/LALeakers/status/804437647120678912

The album announcement is a win for J. Cole fans as the rapper had hinted on “Jermaine’s Interlude” off DJ Khaled’s ‘Major Key’ that he might be retiring. During a performance at the Meadows music festival in October, Cole made it clear that he wouldn’t be performing for “a very long time.” Maybe he’s just taking a break to get ready for a ‘4 Your Eyez Only’ tour?

Either way it’s nice to know we will have some new music from J. Cole in a week. With all the social injustices going on, I’m sure we can expect a few songs to shed light on these issues.

In the album title Cole changes s’s for z’s to pay homage to 2-Pac’s album ‘All Eyez On Me’.

New Music: Spillage Village – “Can’t Call It” Feat. J. Cole & Bas [LISTEN]

cant-call-it-680x680

A few months ago DJ Khaled gave us a new J. Cole song on his ‘Major Key’ album which featured EarthGang. The song, “Jermaine’s Interlude,” was originally supposed to be a Spillage Village cut, before all verses were stripped with the exception of Cole’s.

The complete version of the original song titled, “Can’t Call It” was released today featuring all members of Spillage Village (EarthGang, J.I.D. & Hollywood JB), Bas, and Cole. This isn’t the first collaboration for the Spillage Village clan and Dreamville. In the past they have made music and toured together.
