French Montana gathers the original Coke Boys, Max B and Chinx on “Paid For” produced by Harry Fraud, The Alchemist, and Masar.
On the track French reflects on his fallen brother Chinx and looks forward to Max B getting released from Federal Penitentiary. The emotional first half includes Montana’s mom sharing a prayer for both her son and Max Biggaveli.
A few weeks ago Montana shared on SnapChat that Max B’s 75-year prison sentence was shortened and the rapper should be home in 2-3 years.
“Paid For” was supposed to be on French’s now cancelled ‘MC 4’. Read about the album’s cancellation and more HERE.
Following a release date change, a leaking fiasco, and sample clearing issues French Montana has elected to just completely cancel his ‘MC4’ album.
The album was supposed to be released August 26th, but was pushed back due to “lack of buzz” according to EPIC Records CEO, L.A. Reid. To add insult to injury the album later leaked online after several international stores put it one shelves before its release date.
French “ain’t worried ’bout nothing” as he has moved forward, telling Complex that his new project is 70% complete. Read what else French said about ‘MC4’ and also Max B’s impending release from prison in an interview with Complex below.
Can you explain the setbacks with MC4?
Songs like “I’m Heated” and “Two Times” couldn’t be cleared. By the time I got the mix how I recorded it, it wasn’t the same. I just ain’t have the same feeling for it. Everybody had to replay shit, and do all this extra shit, so I wasn’t in the mood to put it together. All the music going to come out, you know what I’m saying, just packaged differently. Plus, the album got leaked.
Do you feel like you let the fans down?
Nah, I feel like I didn’t because I’m going to still drop something.
Was it hard walking away from MC4?
Yeah, of course. [But] let me tell you something: I’m never married to a date. I got 17 mixtapes I put together, and one album—that’s 18 projects in my whole career. I’m never married to a date. I put it out whenever it’s right. You could force yourself to make it to that date, but if it’s not right, [if] it don’t come out right, you can’t force it.
Have you started working on a new project?
Yeah, I’m like 70 percent done.
What’s something you want to accomplish with the new release that you didn’t with Mac & Cheese 4?
Just make sure it don’t get leaked. That’s why I don’t want to announce the name or nothing. I just want to wait until it’s done and just drop it. Make sure it don’t leak, make sure everything is cleared before I announce anything.
You’re supposedly going to drop a mixtape in October?
Yup, a project. It’s going to be some of the best music you’ve ever heard.
You and Max B came up together, and you’ve stayed in touch with him since he was sentenced to 75 years in prison in 2009. In September, it was revealed he will be up for release in just two years. Where were you when you first heard that news?
I been knew he had an appeal, but I found out from [music executive] Frank Babar—Frank is this guy who helped me and Max out—while I was on the Bad Boy Tour. We been working trying to get him out since he got in. We had our fingers crossed, you know?

“No Shopping” will be on French’s upcoming ‘MC4’ album dropping August 19th.
French Montana and Drake have been teasing what is now known as “No Shopping” for a couple months, after a snippet of the song made its rounds on the Internet. The song was premiered today on Apple Music’s OVO Sound Radio.
On the snippet you can clearly hear a “pump, pump, pump it up” which was a shot by Drake at rapper Joe Buddens, resulting in Buddens dropping a few diss tracks aimed at the 6 God.
Drizzy continues throwing shots at Buddens on his verse by rapping, “I’m not a one-hit wonder, they know all my stuff,” he raps. “You let me turn into the ni**a that you almost was.”
French meanwhile takes the braggadocio route by rapping, “Word to Diddy, we Cirocin’/ Word to Biggie, we’ll be Pac-in’/I just bought Selena’s crib, I’m poppin’/I just told Drizzy, “Let me take Serena to the tropics.”
The video for the song should be coming soon as the two recently shot it in the Dominican Republic.

When Beyonce dropped ‘Lemonade’ earlier this year fans everywhere were in a frenzy as the album dropped via an HBO special. The album was officially given a platinum certification earlier this week.
The platinum plaque is the sixth for Beyonce, whom originally released the album exclusively on TIDAL.
‘Lemonade’ encompasses hits “Formation,” “Freedom” featuring Kendrick Lamar and “6 Inch” featuring The Weeknd.
Big ups to Bey on the accomplishment.
FUTURE EARNS FIRST PLATINUM PLAQUE
Beyonce wasn’t the only one to grab a platinum plaque this week, Future snagged up his first platinum certification as well for ‘Dirty Sprite 2.’
Although DS2 got a platinum certification, Future still has never had a platinum which is strange when you consider some of the hits he’s put out.
Bigs ups to Future and the whole FreeBandz team on the accomplishment.
A few weeks ago a video of French and Drake surfaced on Instagram. The collaboration apparently is a single that will be featured on Frenchie’s upcoming ‘Mac N Cheese 4.’
The expected release for the album is August 19th but you can pre-order it on iTunes HERE.
In its first week Drake’s ‘Views’ went certified platinum and with the kind of units it’s moved so far, the album figures to go multiplatinum soon.
According to Drizzy’s label, Republic Records, ‘Views’ sold over a million units and was streamed over 250-million times on Apple Music in ironically, 6ix days.
The success of this album has Drake sitting on a pedestal in the hip-hop game, with numbers that only big Pop stars like Taylor Swift and Adele are able to conquer.
Mainstream songs on the album “One Dance,” “Hotline Bling,” and “Controlla” really helped propel sales and streams for the album.
‘Views’ is officially the most successful urban album of the year thus far. The album tops sales of Beyonce’s ‘Lemonade’, Kanye West’s ‘The Life of Pablo’ and Rihanna’s ‘Anti’.
Drizzy will go on to host Saturday Night Live on May 14th. The second time the rapper will do so.
Watch these hilarious skits from the last time he hosted:
FORBES HIP-HOP FIVE LIST
Forbes released their annual “Forbes Five: Hip-Hop’s Wealthiest Artists” list with some familiar names and a new one.
Diddy topped the list with an estimated net worth of $750-million for his stakes in Ciroc vodka, Revolt TV network, Aquahydrate alkaline water and SeanJohn clothing.
Dr. Dre came in at No. 2 with $710-millon much of which came with the sale of his Beats by Dre headphones brand to Apple. Last year’s N.W.A. biopic also reeled in a nice amount of revenue. In addition he also has stocks in Apple and a plethora of real estate in Southern California.
Jay-Z cruised in at No. 3 with $610-millon for his TIDAL streaming service that has over 3-million subscribers and also a slew of other business ventures including D’usse and Ace of Spades champagne.
At No. 4 was Bryan “Birdman” Williams with $110-million for the success of multiplatinum selling artists: Lil Wayne, Drake and Nicki Minaj. Put some “respeck” on that.
The final and newest member of the list at No. 5 is OVO head-honcho, Drake with $60-million. The music sales definitely helped, but Drizzy owes most of it to touring and partnerships with Jordan, Apple and Sprite.
The combination of the moguls totaled over $2-billion combined.
50 Cent’s recent bankruptcy struggles kept him off the list this year.
Kanye West already has one of the most successful albums of the year with ‘The Life Of Pablo,’ and he is looking to follow the success with a tour.
He teased ‘The Life Of Pablo’ tour on Steve Harvey’s show Tuesday saying he could be hitting the road in September.
“My tour game is unprecedented,” he bragged to Harvey. “So we’re going to go out in September I believe, and we’re just working on some of the ideas right now.”
I’m excited to see the kind of creativity he will exude for the tour, from the merch to the stage design.
The tour is only in the planning stages, so there are no dates out or opening acts on the bill as of now. Although, it is safe to assume he will probably take his artist Desiigner on tour with him after the success “Panda” has had.
FRENCH MONTANA SIGNS TO EPIC RECORDS
Epic Records has been busy adding to their roster lately with the recent signings of DJ Khaled, Rick Ross and Puff Daddy. The label announced this week that French Montana was the newest signee.
The partnership of Puffy’s Bad Boy Records with Epic had a lot of influence in the signing of Montana, being he is also signed to Bad Boy. Take that, take that, take that.
It’s been three year’s since Montana dropped a studio album, in the meantime he’s been supplying the streets with anthems like, “All The Way Up,” and mixtapes.
His next album will have the Epic Records stamp on it.
Several sources have confirmed that Space Jam 2 will be starring LeBron James, but according to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst “no deal is in place,” although a deal is expected to be done soon.
The director of Fast & Furious, Justin Lin, was announced Monday as the director for the upcoming sequel.
Space Jam came out in 1996 and raked in $230.4-million worldwide and starred Michael Jordan in a box office monster that has since became a classic.
LBJ looks to be MJ’s successor in the series. Let’s see if James can come close to the success Jordan brought to the film, because he hasn’t been able to match it on the court.
French Montana unleashed the video for “Figure It Out” featuring Kanye West and Nas off the ‘Wave Gods’ mixtape. French also announced he signed a deal with Epic Records earlier this week.
