List Of 2019 GRAMMY Award Winners Of The Culture [PEEP]

All the stars aligned last night at the STAPLES Center for the 61st Annual Grammy Awards. There were a lot of major headlines for the culture in the record-breaking night as Childish Gambino’s “This Is America” became the first rap song to win “Song of the Year” and Cardi B became the first female to win “Best Rap Album” for ‘Invasion of Privacy’.

Aside from all that there were lit performances from Travis Scott, Cardi B, Post Malone, Ella Mai, and more. Drake delivered a very woke GRAMMY speech after picking up the award for “Best Rap Song.”

“Know we play in an opinion-based sport, not a factual-based sport. It is not the NBA… This is a business where sometimes it is up to a bunch of people that might not understand what a mixed race kid from Canada has to say… or a brother from Houston right there, my brother Travis. You’ve already won if you have people who are singing your songs word for word, if you are a hero in your hometown. If there is people who have regular jobs who are coming out in the rain, in the snow, spending their hard-earned money to buy tickets to come to your shows, you don’t need this right here, I promise you, you already won,” he said.

Check out the full list of winners from the culture below.

New Video: Meek Mill – “Going Bad” Feat. Drake [WATCH]

Meek Mill and Drake bring all the bosses to the round table in the Kid Art-directed video for their hit collaboration “Going Bad.”

In the video you’ll find cameo appearances from T.I., Nipsey Hussle, Mustard, PNB Rock and a lot of other familiar faces. The sighting of Meek and Drake back in good spirits is good for hip-hip and it shows with this song.

The mob-themed visuals find the fellas dressed to impressed and draped in suits giving the video a spiffy appearance. It begins with Meek and Drizzy’s Rolls Royces colliding head-to-head.

Drake Gives $10k To Two McDonald’s Employees [PEEP]

We all imagine that superstars like Drake don’t eat at fast food joints like McDonald’s, well that actually isn’t true. Drizzy was spotted by fans in a Los Angeles McDonald’s where he allegedly tipped two employees $10-thousand each.

It seems like Drake enjoyed is trying to bring back the “God’s Plan” challenge with more philanthropy. The 6 God is known for giving extravagant gifts to his loved ones and closest friends and J. Cole even said on his recent single “Middle Child” that Drizzy bought him a watch. Paying it forward is what life’s all about.

We salute you Drizzy!

The Most Anticipated Albums Of 2019 [PEEP]

Last year was a major year for hip-hop with a plethora of fire releases and every week being loaded with heat. Even with all the fire that was delivered we didn’t get a few albums that we have been waiting for, which makes them even more anticipated.

With that said I have compiled a list of “The 10 Most Anticipated Albums of 2019,” that myself along with Justin Credible and DJ Sourmilk are waiting for. Hopefully we get these really this year and 2019 is as lit with heat as 2018 was.

In no particular order I have listed the 10 albums I feel the culture needs this year and the general public is yearning for. Let’s get to it.

Kendrick-Lamar

KENDRICK LAMAR

Kendrick Lamar hasn’t let his foot off the gas since he released of his 2017 masterpiece ‘DAMN.’, which went on to receive five GRAMMY awards at the 60th annual GRAMMYs. In 2018 he continued his productiveness and domination with ‘Black Panther: The Album’ that is nominated for six GRAMMYs, including “Album of the Year.”

K. Dot is rumored to have a new album in the works that is said to be coming this year. The hype surrounds any album or project he is associated with. Being one of the greatest of this generation, Dot keeps everyone on the edge of their seat with his timeless music.

j-cole-21-savage-6ix9ine-line

J. COLE & DREAMVILLE’S ‘REVENGE OF THE DREAMERS III’

An MVP candidate of the 2018 campaign, J. Cole really dominated with the release of his ‘KOD’ album and was featured on over 10 songs, doing collaborations with Jay Rock, Royce Da 5’9″, Wale, 6lack, Moneybagg Yo, Anderson .Paak, J.I.D, amongst others. Cole really maintained his top 5 rapper status spitting hard-hitting bars, being versatile, and killing his features.

On his “Album of the Year” freestyle Cole teased his next mixtape ‘The Off Season’ and forthcoming album ‘The Fall Off’. Along with that Cole and his Dreamville label hosted a “Rap Camp,” where they worked on the third installment of their ‘Revenge of the Dreamers’ compilation. It’s interesting to see what comes from the sessions, maybe all three projects will come from them. *crosses fingers*

rihanna-2019-600x361

RIHANNA

Rihanna spent a lot of last year working on her FENTY makeup and clothing line, closing deals, and even doing some acting.

As of late she’s been seen in the studio working on music and her vocal producer Kuk Harrell recently teased her upcoming album saying, “R9 is great. R9 is amazing. It’s incredible, And that’s all I’m going to say,” in response to a fan on social media. The Badgal also responded to a fan on Instagram who asked when the new album was coming with a response that said, “2019.”

Her next album should include a lot of dancehall and island vibes according to sources around her. Whatever style she brings I’m excited to hear some new music from her and to see who she collaborates with.

chris-brown-2017-tgj-600x420

CHRIS BROWN

Being one of the youngest artists to own their masters, Chris Brown has been bossing up and looking to secure his musical legacy. He also recently inked a new deal with his longtime record label RCA, which gives him full rights over his full catalogue.

Last time we got a full-length studio album from Breezy was in October 2017 when he dropped his 45-track double album, ‘Heartbreak on a Full Moon’. With a relatively silent 2018, all signs point to CB releasing his eighth album.

Kanye-West-920x584

KANYE WEST

Kanye West was busy last year releasing his ‘Ye’ album, collaborating with Kid Cudi on their joint ‘Kids See Ghosts’ album, and executive producing albums for Nas, Pusha-T, and Teyana Taylor. Ye’s album was received lukewarm reviews and his antics stole the show, leaving many tuned out.

He was supposed to release ‘Yandhi’ in the fourth quarter of last year but ultimately pushed it back to work on it. Aside from ‘Yandhi’, Yeezy may also be releasing ‘Good Ass Job’ with Chance The Rapper and the second installment of ‘KSG’ with Cudi. Let’s hope he doesn’t create distractions to take people away from the music and check him out.

<> at The Queen Mary on April 28, 2018 in Long Beach, California.

SCHOOLBOY Q

ScHoolboy Q has been surrounded with speculation of a new album since 2018 after he dropped his ‘Blank Face EP’ in 2016. The passing of his good friend Mac Miller last year was hard on hims and he admitted he didn’t feel right working on it as he mourned, causing him to shelve the album.

Despite perpetual album delays we know that in Q’s got something in this year and is ready to takeover the scene with it. I’m excited to see how much he’s grown as an artist and if he experiments with any new sounds.

Rick-Ross-Net-Worth

RICK ROSS

Rick Ross has been keeping things smooth as of late making appearances in different studios and giving guest verses to others but it’s been a while since we got a solo album from the biggest Bawse.

Back in August Rozay was rumored to have been releasing ‘Port Of Miami 2’ and it didn’t come so that only adds to the speculation he will be dropping it this year. Ross has consistently remained on top of the game when it comes to putting out great bodies of work. Weather he’s calling out names or calling it like it is Rozay always has something to say in his music. I’m sure you can expect a classic when it does finally come.

Big-Sean-may-2018-a-billboard-1548 (1)

BIG SEAN

Sean Don was absent for most of 2018, appearing on a a few songs but other than that was idle. Many people and Sean himself said he was dealing and working through some things. We know he’s a workhorse so through that time I’m sure he’s also been working on new music.

Many people said Sean fell off last year, but I can assure you when he drops his next album and let’s us in on what he was going through, he will be right back there. Can’t wait to hear some new, real music from Sean.

gambino

CHILDISH GAMBINO

Without putting out an album in 2018 Childish Gambino had a very impactful year in the industry. He dropped one of the biggest songs of 2018 in “This Is America,” which earned him five GRAMMY nominations at this year’s awards.

As it is rumored his next album under the name Childish Gambino will be his final under that name before he goes by his government, Donald Glover. Not sure if that means his sound will change or what that will bring but if his next one can be anything like 2016’s “‘Awaken, My Love!”‘ I’m all for it.

boogie1440x720header

BOOGIE

Signed to Eminem’s Shady Records label, Boogie can flat out rap his ass off. The Compton rapper has already announced he will be dropping his album ‘Everything’s For Sale’ on January 25th and recently dropped “Silent Ride,” which is a banger.

I believe that once he drops the album he will be regarded as a top 10 spitter in the game. Stay tuned.

p06k1ty5

SAWEETIE

The Bay Area Princess broke into the scene with a mega-hit in “ICY GRL,” which put a lot of eye balls on her. Aside from her beauty, Saweetie has a lot of appeal and star potential and it has shown with follow-up singles like “Up Now.”

What she’s really lacking to take her to the next level is a full-length album and I believe that’s what her fans and critics are waiting for. We saw what Cardi B’s debut album did for her and I believe Saweetie’s debut can have the same impact.

saba-noname-smino-photo-by-saba

SABA, SMINO & NONAME COLLAB ALBUM

This collab album is atop every hip-hop heads wish list and with a lot of reason. All three of these Mid-West artist are really putting their region back where it once was when Nelly was out here killing shit. Saba, Smino and Noname’s ‘Care for Me’ ‘NOIR’, and ‘Room 25’ were highly regarded last year and made a lot of noise.

Although this collaborative album hasn’t been confirmed by either artists it would be an EPIC one. All three of them also attended Dreamville’s “Rap Camp” so maybe they worked on some stuff that can be on it out there. We’ll see if this happens.

Screen-Shot-2018-08-28-at-11.50.11-AM-656x381

YBN CORDAE

We’re still waiting on YBN Cordae’s debut album and if it is going to happen, I believe this year is when it will. He rapped his way into people’s heads last year and verbally murdered everything he did. Without a doubt he is the most lyrical out of the YBN crew, but with the help of Nahmir and Jay he can also make some mainstream-appealing music to take him up another level.

Uncle Murda Gives All The Highlights Of 2018 On His “Rap Up 2018” [LISTEN]

Uncle Murda took a page out of Mad Skillz book last year when he released his own version of the yearly “Rap Up.” The G-Unit rapper comes through with “Rap Up 2018,” which is a little more in-depth than Skillz and also very entertaining.

Over 9-minutes Murda gives his year-end recap with hilarious lines that float bar-for-bar. Rapping over a combination of soulful beats that were assembled by a combination of Great John, DJ Clue, Myles William, and Mister Neek.

Every bar on this track talks about the year that was, so it might be a lot to digest. It was a tumultuous year in hip-hop and this talks about the winners and losers. There’s some heavy smoke bars in there for MAGA supporter Kanye West, Young Buck, and even Dwight Howard.

All the beefs in 2018 are put under a microscope as well as Drake’s baby reveal, Lil Wayne and Birdman putting their beef aside, Juelz pulling up to the airport with a gun, Rondo smacking CP3, LeBron coming to the Lakers, Donald Dump’s BS, Tekashi 6ix9ine’s antics and imprionment, Nip’s “Victory Slap,” the losses of rappers, Bill Cosby, the Kardashians, and more.

Kendrick Lamar & Drake Lead The Pack In 2019 GRAMMY Nominations [PEEP]

Kendrick Lamar and Drake lead the way in the 2019’s Grammy Award nominations with K. Dot sliding in with eight, while The 6 God comes in second with a solid seven.

Much of Dot’s nominations come from ‘Black Panther: The Album’ and Drizzy’s from his ‘Scorpion’ album, which is nominated for Album of the Year and his acclaimed “God’s Plan” single that is up for Record of the Year. Drizzy has had an undeniable year once again breaking streaming records and climbing charts all year.

Cardi B has had a great run this year to follow last year’s successful freshman campaign. She rounds off with five GRAMMY nominations including Record of the Year and Album of the Year, in what looks to be a heavy female representation at next year’s GRAMMYs with Ella Mai, Jorja Smith, and Janelle Monáe also receiving nominations.

One very interesting category we look forward to is Best Rap Album and Crenshaw’s own Nipsey Hussle is not only nominated but has made an incredible case for the award with his debut ‘Victory Lap’ album that has stood out as one of hip hop’s masterpieces.

‘Victory Lap’ is nominated along with Pusha T’s ‘DAYTONA’, the late Mac Miller’s ‘Swimming’, Travis Scott’s ‘ASTROWORLD’, and Cardi’s ‘Invasion Of Privacy’.

JAY Z and Beyoncé are also nominated for three Grammy awards including best music video for “APESHIT,” which was shot in Paris at the Louvre Museum.

Drake’s “God’s Plan” Earns Diamond Certification [PEEP]

Drake is having one of his biggest years he’s ever had, even given all the success throughout his career. Unscathed from the Pusha T beef, Drizzy dropped his platinum ‘Scorpion’ double album back in Jun that contained one of his biggest singles to date in “God’s Plan.”

With that single Drizzy has joined the RIAA Diamond club, which means it has . Diamond has officially moved at least 10-million equivalent units, surpassing gold and platinum. “God’s Plan” is only the 23rd single in history to go Diamond and with it The 6 God joins artists like Eminem, Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, Black Eyed Peas, and more.

Earlier this year Drake was named as the RIAA’s top certified singles artist of all-time and he figures to only continue to add to that. Back when he dropped the video for “God’s Plan” he said it was the most important thing he’s ever done and this might be his biggest accomplishment to date.

Congratulations Drizzy!
