Screen Shot 2017-05-15 at 11.03.31 AM

Over a KAYTRANADA-produced track, Chance The Rapper tells a motivating, uplifting story about going from rags-to-riches and the way he was brought up by his parents in the suburbs. Chance also talks about his father, who worked for President Obama.

The single was premiered on Pharrell’s Beats1 show “OTHERtone” over the weekend. It is unspecified if the track will be a one off or if it is material on Chance’s forthcoming album. Chance continues his “Be Encouraged Tour” through June 17th in Dover.

dj-khaled-wayne-bieber-quavo-chance (1)

It’s only been about two weeks since DJ Khaled dropped his newest hit-record “I’m the One”. The Justin Bieber, Chance The Rapper, Lil Wayne, and Quavo-assisted single has earned Khaled his first No. 1 single on Billboard’s Hot 100 and became Chance’s first No. 1 record.

“I’m the One” has impacted the charts with over 50-million streams and spins on different radio formats. The single knocks Bruno Mars’ “That’s What I Like” down a spot for sole possession of the top spot. Khaled has had No. 1s in the past but never on the most important chart being the Hot 100.

For Quavo it becomes his first as a solo artist, while Bieber celebrates his fourth and Weezy gets his third.

Khaled and Chance both went on Twitter to display their excitement and appreciation for the honor of taking the Hot 100 throne.

Another one.

DJ Khaled blesses fans with his new single “I’m the One,” accompanied with a video. The song is a collaboration with some of the industry’s heaviest hitters in Justin Bieber, Chance The Rapper, Lil Wayne, and Quavo.

The Eif Rivera-directed video had been teased earlier this year and Khaled dropped an official trailer yesterday, adding extra commotion.

In the video Khaled and friends find themselves at a lavish estate, where they host a pool party with a flock of beautiful women, pop bottles of Belaire Luxe and Ciroc Summer Colada. The group of friends are also shown smoking, playing croquet, and dancing around. In the beginning Khaled’s son, Ashad makes a cameo, sitting in a chair that says, Executive Producer.

“I’m the One” follows DJ Khaled’s “Shining” collaboration with Jay-Z and Beyoncé, which has already gone No. 1. The producer has already promised his new single will have the same success. Both singles will be on Khaled’s forthcoming ‘Grateful’ album, follow-up to last year’s ‘Major Key’. ‘Grateful’ is set to include other features from Drake, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, Nas, Travis Scott, and pretty much the biggest in the game.

Chance The Rapper Makes $1-Million Donation To Chicago Public Schools [PEEP]

chance-the-rapper-donation

Not only is Chance The Rapper making advancements musically, Chano is also fighting to make sure kids in his hometown of Chicago get a better education. Surrounded by students at Oliver S. Westcott Elementary in Chicago on Monday, Chance presented the school district with a massive check for $1-million.

“Today, I am proud to announce that I am donating $1 million to CPS,” said Chance. “This donation was made possible by my fans, through ticket sales for my upcoming tour and an unprecedented coordination from Live Nation, AEG, and Ticketmaster, competing corporations who were able to band together — also with independent promoters and venues across the country — to use funds from ticket sales to donate to CPS…I’m honored to make this donation to Chicago Public Schools Foundation and help cultivate Chicago creative minds.”

It appears that Chance is taking matters into his own hands, following his disappointing meeting with Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner to discuss the public school funding. Chano left the meeting looking frustrated and said he was given “vague” answers by Rauner.

Lil’ Chano intends to donate more money through his foundation, Social Works, that will donate $10,000 to a specific public school for every $100,000 they raise. That’s $10,000 to 10 different schools! The donation will begin with Oliver S. Westcott Elementary, where Chance gathered to present the district with the check.

Salute, Chance! We need more people with influence to tackle these social issues. We know President Agent Orange doesn’t care about the inner cities.

59th Annual Grammy Awards R&B & Hip-Hop Winners [PEEP]

2017-rap-rnb-grammy-award-winers

The 59th Annual Grammy Awards show was live from the STAPLES Center in Los Angeles last night and it turned out to be an EPIC night for the Urban music community.

Chance The Rapper made history by taking home his first GRAMMY for “Best Rap Album” and becoming the first artist ever win the award with a stream-only album. In addition to “Best Rap Album,” Chance also won “Best New Artist” and “Best Rap Performance” for his ‘Coloring Book’ single “No Problem” featuring 2 Chainz and Lil Wayne.

Chance shared a text from Drake, who’s on tour in Manchester, congratulating him on the wins and Lil Wayne sent out a tweet thanking Chance, Chainz, and the fans for his 5th Grammy award.

As for Drake, he nabbed his second and third GRAMMYs for “Best Rap Song” and “Best Rap/Sung Performance” trophies for his highly-praised single “Hotline Bling.” Drizzy followed his wins with a petty Instagram post that read, “Me and my chain are just here to collect the trophies for Work and Anti…howbowdah.” Many thought it was a shot at Rihanna, who didn’t win any awards.

Lalah Hathaway’s won Best R&B Album for ‘Lalah Hathaway Live’, while her song “Angel” notched the victory for “Best Traditional R&B Performance.” Other winners included Maxwell, who won “Best R&B song” for “Lake By the Ocean” and Beyoncé’s little sister, Solange won “Best R&B Performance for “Cranes in the Sky.”

Beyoncé took home two GRAMMYs, one for “Best Music Video” and “Best Urban Contemporary Album.” For Beyoncé, it wasn’t about the two awards she won and more about the big one she didn’t win being, “Album of the Year.”

Adele, who won the award made a graceful speech about Beyoncé and her work on “Lemonade,” saying she thinks it should’ve won the award over ’25’.

New Video: Chance The Rapper – “Same Drugs” [WATCH]

Chance The Rapper brings out the Muppets in the video for “Same Drugs” off his ‘Coloring Book’ mixtape.

Jake Schreier, the director of the video used grainy camera effects to give the video a vintage stylized look. Chance plays the piano joined by a Muppet before he gets up and walks off the stage and past the control room, eventually exiting the Muppet studios.

This isn’t the first time Chano has used Muppets, last year the Chicago rapper performed with a whole group of Muppet characters on his “Magnificent Coloring Book Tour.”

Chance will perform at this Sunday’s GRAMMY Awards show. His critically-acclaimed ‘Coloring Book’ mixtape is nominated for 7 awards and it marks the first time a mixtape has been nominated for a GRAMMY.

New Video: Migos – “T-Shirt” [WATCH]

It’s been a busy week for Migos. Earlier this week they shared the tracklist, cover art, and release date for their forthcoming album ‘C U L T U R E’, and today they end the week by dropping the visuals for “T-Shirt” co-directed by Quavo.

The three trap-eteers show off their fur as they dress as eskimos wearing Versace snow boots. As they roll around the snow in snowmobiles accompanied by models, they stop to practice archery before rolling to the cabin to sip on hot chocolate.

With not even a full day of being released, the video has received critical acclaim by fans and Chance The Rapper who questioned if Quavo has ever directed in the past, before saying the video deserves an Oscar.

The track is set to land on ‘C U L T U R E’, which is set to be released January 27th.

Rolling Stone’s 50 Best Albums of 2016 Includes Béyonce, Kanye West, Drake, Chance The Rapper & More [PEEP]

rs_top50of2016-7b8c9fb4-dfe2-40dd-a58b-b60c64c40a6d

Béyonce, Kanye West, Chance The Rapper, Frank Ocean, and Young Thug all finished in the top 10 of Rolling Stone’s 50 Best Albums of 2016.

Queen Béy lead the way with her highly-acclaimed ‘LEMONADE’ topping the list. The platinum-selling album’s placement came to no surprise to some, after its worldwide popularity and countless awards and accolades.

“Beyoncé shut everyone else down this year with a soul-on-fire masterpiece, testifying about love, rage and betrayal that felt all too true in the America of 2016,” wrote the magazine. “The queen not only made the album of the year (and make no mistake, David Bowie would have been the first to say so), she delivered a confessional, genre-devouring suite that feels larger than life yet still heartbreakingly intimate, because it doubles as her portrait of a nation in flames.”

Chance The Rapper, Frank Ocean, and Young Thug all followed Béyonce in the top 10 for their albums ‘Coloring Book’, ‘Blonde’, and ‘Jefferey’, respectively. Both Chance and Franky Ocean have received high praise for the continuous success of their projects while being indepedent.

Drake’s ‘Views’ finished 42nd after ‘If You’re Reading This, It’s Too Late’ placed third last year, behind Kendrick Lamar’s ‘To Pimp a Butterfly’ and Adele’s ’25’.

Other hip-hop notables include: Danny Brown’s ‘Atrocity Exhibition’ (19th), Rihanna’s ‘ANTI’ (25th), A Tribe Called Quest’s ‘We Got it From Here…Thank You 4 Your Service’ (30th), Alicia Keys’ ‘HERE’ (32nd), Maxwell’s ‘blackSUMMERS’night’ (40th), and Future’s ‘Evol’ (43rd).

Chance The Rapper Cancels Remaining “Magnificent Coloring World Tour” Shows [PEEP]

chance-the-rapper-voter-registration

Apparently Kanye West isn’t the only one feeling exhausted and overwhelmed. Chance The Rapper follows Ye’s footsteps by cancelling the remaining dates of the “Magnificent Coloring World Tour” in Europe due to “personal reasons.”

The news was first shared by Promoter MCD on Facebook in a statement which can be read below.

“It is with regret that Chance the Rapper has to cancel the remainder of his European tour due to personal reasons. These are 2 shows at the Helix in Dublin and 1 show at the Apollo in Manchester. He sends his apologies for this and looks forward to returning to Europe in 2017. Refunds are available from point of purchase.”

On the “Magnificent Coloring World Tour,” Chano has experienced show cancellations due to health conditions for tonsillitis and the flu. He then cancelled a charity event in New York City after he was hospitalized and treated for another illness.

Hopefully the cancellation doesn’t deem any serious medical condition or serious issues for Chance.
