Without any promotion or lead single The Weeknd releases his surprise ‘My Dear Melancholy,’ EP, putting his fans in complete pandemonium.
‘My Dear Melancholy,’ follows 2016’s ‘Starboy’ album and comes complete with 6-tracks and only has a feature from French DJ, Gesaffelstein. Meanwhile Gesaffelstein contributes with production as well, along with Mike WiLL Made-It, Skrillex, and Frank Dukes.
This EP is reminiscent of Abel’s older offerings like ‘Trilogy’ and ‘Kiss Land’ with dark lyrics and evocative songs like “Privilege,” “Call Out My Name,” and “Try Me.”
Travis Scott raved about The Weeknd’s album earlier this month on Twitter saying, “Abel new album is scray It’s like when I first heard him for the first time. Fuckkkkkk !!!!!” That could be a sign that we might get an album before The Weeknd takes the stage at Coachella in mid April.
