Jay-Z’s recent ‘4:44’ album spread a lot of inspiration with the rapper dropping several gems. Hov looks to continue to inspire his people with a new spoken word video called “Dream. On.”
While Hov spits motivating words circulating around June 1983, when he was 13-years-old. Reliving his real struggles the video includes walls and ceilings in despair, rugged Puma sneakers, boomboxes, a vintage tape recorder next to pages of his lyrics to Big L’s “Da Graveyard” collaboration, and more.
Hov takes listeners into the struggles he faced, while also explaining in detail the kind of hard work needed to succeed. “Blood, sweat, and tears / I know what a kid from 5C see’d,” he says. “Heaven knows, all I had was hella hope / Speed dating with destiny, I couldn’t tell her nope,” raps Jay.
