Details continue to unfold about Kanye West’s recent hospitalization. Yesterday the Chicago rapper was taken to UCLA Medical Center after suffering from sleep deprivation and dehydration.
TMZ reported today that Ye’s personal physician, Dr. Michael Farzam contacted authorities after Kanye’s extreme erratic behavior. The report goes on to say that Dr. Farzam told police that West was placed on a 5150 psychiatric hold after attempting to assault a gym employee.
The 5150 hold is usually placed “when a person, as a result of a mental health disorder, is a danger to others, or to himself or herself, or gravely disabled.”
Kanye was taken away handcuffed to a stretcher by an ambulance by EMTs and accompanied by law enforcement officers.
A police report says that the call was for a man with a mental illness and a description that read, “Jim Jones, 39 years old, 5’8″, 175 lbs … suffers from temporary psychosis due to sleep deprivation and dehydration.”
The hospitalization follows a rough week for Kanye, where he’s been under great scruntiny for his verbal support of President-Elect, Donald Trump, cancelling shows, cutting shows short, and going on a 20-minute rant about Beyonce, Jay-Z, Drake, radio, and more.
Let’s hope this doesn’t escalade and Kanye can get back to the music soon. Prayers up for Ye.
