Tupac Shakur & Janet Jackson Nominated For Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame

Tupac Shakur and Janet Jackson are among the 19 nominees up for the 2017 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction. Other nominees include Chaka Khan, Pearl Jam, Jane’s Addiction, Depeche Mode, MC5, and others.

For Shakur it is his first year of eligibility and first nomination. As we know aside from being one of the greatest rappers to ever step in a booth, Pac was also a great poet, actor, and activist.

Janet Jackson is up for her second nomination after not being inducted in her first go-round. On the long list of inductees you will find only 44 women, which is less than 15-percent.

Last year N.W.A. was inducted and faced a lot of backlash most notably from Gene Simmons for not being in the Rock-N-Roll genre. If Tupac is nominated he would only be the sixth hip-hop inductee. The others are the Beastie Boys, Grandmaster Flash, Run D.M.C., Public Enemy, and as mentioned, N.W.A.

All the inductees will be announced December and the ceremony will take place next April at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. HBO will broadcast the event.

DRAKE RELEASES VIEWS
It was almost two years since Drake announced the title of his fourth studio album ‘Views’, and on Friday he finally gave fans what they had been waiting for.

The highly anticipated album is laced with 20 songs that possess that Drake and 40 combination known to warrant plaques.

‘VIEWS’ boasts features from Rihanna, Future, Pimp C, PARTYNEXTDOOR, WizKid, Popcaan and dvsn.

Jay-Z and Kanye were supposed to also be on the album for their collab on “Pop Style,” but as Drizzy told Zane Lowe during his interview samples were not clear. No biggie for Drake whom accomplished something Kanye and Jay have never done — sell over half a million on the FIRST day. Guess Drake featuring Drake gets the job done.

My must-hear 6ix songs off the album are below in no particular order:
“Controlla”
“Childs Play”
“Redemption”
“Still Here”
“Faithful” feat. Pimp C & dvsn
“Too Good” feat. Rihanna

I wasn’t too impressed with the album at first, but after numerous plays I can see why this album figures to be the album of the summer. Let me know in the comments below what your favorite songs off ‘VIEWS’ are.

Purchase it HERE.

SUMMER SIXTEEN TOUR
When Drake and Future said they were “up to something” they weren’t kidding, they truly were “not just bluffing.”

The “Jumpman” duo announced Monday they are hitting the road this summer for their Summer Sixteen tour.

This is not the first time the two have been on tour together. Drake has taken Future on the road before for both his Jungle tour and Would You Like a Tour.

Since the tour was announced a number of dates have been added including an extra show in LA at the Staples Center and another one at MSG in New York, making NY the city with the most dates with four.

Tickets for the Summer Sixteen tour went on sale this Friday on Ticketmaster, and if you’re reading this it might be too late to get tickets for select cities. GOOD LUCK!

Check out ALL the dates below:

DESIIGNER’S “PANDA” TOPS CHARTS

Freshman rapper Desiigner is doing things the guy he gets compared to has never done, as his hit-single “Panda” reached No. 1 on Billboards Hot 100 charts.

With the No.1 single, Desiigner also became the first New York City rapper since Jay-Z to be on top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

The 18-year-old rapper that is now signed to Kanye’s G.O.O.D. Music imprint, announced he will be dropping a mixtape and an app in the coming weeks, be on the lookout.

N.W.A. REUNION AT COACHELLA
If you’ve been on earth the past two weeks you know Coachella weekend was in full effect from everyone talking about it…WE GET IT.

Ice Cube was one of the performers at the ‘chella and had one of the best performances along with former N.W.A. members he brought out: Dr. Dre, MC Ren and DJ Yella, as well as Kendrick Lamar to put the cherry on top.

It was really a sight to see as the supergroup performed classics like: “Straight Outta Compton,” “Dopeman,” and “Fuck The Police.”

MC Ren told Rolling Stone that the whole moment was great and “”We had fun. It felt like old times. It’s been a long, long stretch.”

If you were raised on hip-hop it was a historic thing to see. Hopefully, the group will bless more stages in the near future.
