Snoop Dogg ft. Nate Dogg, Warren G & Kurupt – Ain’t No Fun (If The Homies Can’t Have None) (OG Cassette Tape Demo Audio)

Snoop Dogg

Back in 1993, before Dr. Dre added the bells and whistles to the best song to sing to whilst drunk, “Ain’t No Fun (If The Homies Can’t Have None)” had a slight different type of sound. Thanks to DâM-FunK, who bought the recording on a cassette tape at L.A.’s Slauson Swap Meet back in ’93, we now have the record in it’s original form twenty prior to the track we know today.

Happy listening.

Mixtape: DJ Steve1der – Nate In ’08

A year ago, the west coast and hip hop fans felt heart break when the news broke of Nathaniel “Nate Dogg” Dwayne Hale’s death. Out of the many Nate tributes I’ve heard, nothing stands out more than DJ Steve1der’s Nate in ’08 mix. It didn’t start off as a tribute mix but he re-released it last year in tribute to the West Coast great. I hope you enjoy this mix as much as I do. It’s 100% Nate Dogg.

According to Vibe, Warren G says there are plenty of records that have yet to be released from the West Coast legend.

“I got tons of records that we did together — there’s stuff that we just had stashed. We got a bunch of stuff. I may put it out one day — you never know. I don’t want to just put it out right now because of the situation that happened,” Warren G told VIBE.” I ain’t like that — [Nate’s] my homeboy — I will do it for his kids and mother. It’s [now] about me and Snoop as 213, carrying on his legacy.”

I would love to hear what’s in store. ‘Til then, Rest in Peace Nate Dogg.

Video: Terrace Martin – Never Leave Me Alone (Nate Dogg Tribute)

Terrace Martin and Kenneth Crouch pay tribute to Nate Dogg by performing one of his most memorable songs, “Never Leave Me Alone.” Below, Terrace has a few words to share.

I’m am saden by the lost of my friend, brother, and teacher nate dogg we will all miss him .I remember going to nates house in woodland hills (it was the 1st time I have been in a house of that size over looking the whole valley) and I was saying to my self “wow he got all of this off of music.” At that time in my life I didn’t know music could do all that lol. I sat in his studio and played him like 29 beats and he could tell that I was amazed by him-his home-and his studio…so he turned to me and said “would you like a house like this?” Of course I said yes. Then he asked me how much I charge for beats, I told him $2,500 and he said in order to get a crib like this you need to move up to $15,000 a beat. At that time 15k was a lot to me! About a year later through God’s blessings I moved from moms crib to my own house on the same street as him. Around that that time we were working on the 213 album and I played Nate and Warren G the beat to the song that ended up being their “Joy Stick” single. Nate called me and asked how much I was going to charge them for the “Joy Stick” beat, I told him 15k…(why would I ever say that to him lol)…he then told me that the game he gave me to get my prices up to 15k actually costs 400k so let him get that beat and I will only owe him 385k lol. Nate if you hear me I’m siting in my car. On the side of the 118 in tears sending this to dev to post to let the world know that you were more than “nate dogg the hook man”…in my world you were and are a bleesing to and my kids and for that I will always love you and I will see you soon big bro and this small clip is for you Kenneth Crouch and I playing my favorite tune from you…neva leave me alone….Terrace Martin

“My Letter To Nate Dogg” by Justin Credible

Last night when I learned we lost Nate Dogg, I did not want to believe it. Nate is a legend. I grew up to his music. What’s a party without “Ain’t No Fun”, “Area Codes”, “Never Leave Me Alone”, and the list goes on. It’s ironic that just yesterday afternoon I had a vision of attending a Dr. Dre concert in the near future and had hopes of Nate Dogg surprising us with an appearance.

Today while listening to Big Boy, Dj Eman, Dj Ever, and the whole Power family play so many great songs, it took me to a happy place. It reminded me of some amazing memories. Nate came from an era when I fell in love with Hip Hop.

Looking back I can remember listening to the radio and hearing Nate Dogg on every song. To this day we joke when an artist has more than three hits on the radio at once, we say.. “He’s the new Nate Dogg”.

Nate influenced so many people in music and life. He has been the voice of Los Angeles for many years.

This is a reminder we are not promised tomorrow. Instances like this, and the tragedy in Japan are indications we need to cherish every moment and lesson in life.

In the words of Mack 10… “It ain’t a hit till Nate Dogg spit”.

We will forever miss you. You are a legend and your legacy will never be forgotten. I picture 2 Pac in heaven waiting for you with a nice glass of thug passion and open arms. I imagine you are both in a studio reminiscing about old times and making beautiful new music.

Rest In Paradise Nate Dogg.

From a true fan,

Justin Credible
