Video: Kendrick Lamar – “It’s All About Quality And Consistency.”

“It’s all about the quality and consistency. I mean, you could put out a lot of music but if the shit is trash, nobody going to latch on to it. I mean, you could put out quality music but not give them enough, nobody going to latch on to it. Your work ethic ain’t good enough. So when it’s quality and it’s consistent, that’s what I think it’s all about, in life, in general.”

SoulCulture.TV caught up with Kendrick Lamar during the madness of SXSW and discussed working with Dre, XXL freshman class, new projects and the late great Nate Dogg.

Video: Kendrick Lamar – HiiiPoWeR (Live At El Rey)

Kendrick Lamar performed his latest single, “HiiiPoWeR,” for the first time ever in front of a sold out crowd Saturday night at El Rey. He starts it off with a intro freestyle, transitions to a video montage, then has the TDE crew join him on stage for “HiiiPoWeR.” I heard the show was live! Can’t wait to see more footage. Shout out to retOne for keeping the cam still.

Video: MTV News x Black Hippy

MTV News continues the New West Week and highlights L.A. rap group Black Hippy, comprised of Jay Rock, Kendrick Lamar, Ab-Soul and ScHoolboy Q.

“A lot of people will be like, ‘You good now, Dre messing with you,’ ” Kendrick said. “No, we’re not good now. We’ve got to go 10 times harder. Just because that man is further in his career doesn’t mean he could say one word and further my career right that instant. I’ve got to have the music to back it up and prove myself still.”

I’m definitely feeling that hard work ethic. Sidenote: I just read that J. Cole is producing about 90 percent of his and Kendrick’s upcoming project. Cole’s beats are smooth. Can’t wait to hear that.

Here’s one of my favorite tracks off of XV’s latest project, Zero Heroes. Producer Seven and XV always make the best music together. Check out this track titled “Textbook Stuff” where XV and Kendrick Lamar address the trials of childhood into adulthood.
