Mick Boogie – Beastie Boys: Grand Royal (Mixtape)

How did this mixtape slip by me? Mick Boogie put together 80 minutes of his favorite Beastie Boys rarities, remixes, demos, live versions, out-takes, and more in honor of the Beastie Boys being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in April. A few weeks later, Beastie Boys’ member Adam “MCA” Yauch passed away after fighting a three-year battle with cancer. It may be the end of a Beastie Boys era but their legacy will continue to live loudly through speakers. If you weren’t familiar with the trio, consider Grand Royal an 80-min crash course in a part of hip hop history.

We posted the trailer for this a few weeks back, and now here it is in full… Right after the premiere of their video for “Make Some Noise” last night (click here to watch), the Beasties bring us this 30-minute short film which is a retrospective of sorts back to the boys early License To Ill days.

I couldn’t be more serious when I say this video is PACKED with celebrity cameos. Seth Rogen, Danny McBride, Elijah Wood, Susan Sarandon, Stanley Tucci, Rashida Jones, Will Arnett, Rainn Wilson, Orlando Bloom, Will Ferrell, John C. Reilly, and Jack Black all make appearances… Just to name a few.

I love that the Beastie Boys are releasing a sequel to an imaginary album. While Hot Sauce Committee Part Two is set to drop May 3rd, the trio have released a trailer for their 30-minute short film which includes appearances by Will Ferrell, Seth Rogen, Jack Black, Susan Sarandon, Will Arnett, Danny McBride, Ted Danson and other recognizable faces.
