Justin Credible Album Spotlight: Malibu – Anderson Paak

unnamed

It doesn’t take long to realize Anderson Paak is truly one of the most talented young artists in the game right now. From being featured on 6 of 16 tracks off Dr. Dre’s “Compton” album, to finally putting out his own full body of work, he has not let me down with his music.

Anderson Paak is the another artists from the west coast that has been on my radar for quite some time now. From the moment I first heard his music I knew he was here to create real organic music.

This past Friday he released his latest album titled “Malibu”. I must say this is one of my favorite projects out right now. His sound is unique and the production on this album is out of this world. The presence of live instrumentation is heavy felt throughout this album, smooth vocals and the verses are perfectly delivered throughout each record.

I’ve been riding around to this album on repeat. This album is real personal and explains who Anderson Paak is as an artist and person. There are a few songs off the album that stand out to me.

One of my favorites right off the bat is the first one “The Birds” where he delivers the story about how his mom caught the gambling bug and his father was behind bars. A great story and song to kick off the album.

Another song I really enjoy on this album is “Am I Wrong” which brings a feature from Schoolboy Q. The track is uptempo that makes anyone want to 2-Step no matter what you’re doing.

“Without You” is another favorite of mine. It has the 90’s Hip Hop vibe all over it. The backgrounds on it make the song feel warm and easy to listen to. It also features one of my favorite’s, Rapsody. She brings her bars and adds the perfect element to this song.

Anderson Paak is an artist that is here to create music for the soul and shows no signs of stopping anytime soon. He’s definitely a unique artist that is here for the long run and if you haven’t grabbed his album go do that right now and give it a listen. If you’ve already purchased the album, let me know what your favorite songs are. How do you feel about this new wave of music that Anderson Paak bring to the game? Let me know.
