In preparation for his upcoming “Long Live the Chief Tour,” Jidenna took over NPR’s “Tiny Desk Concert” series and ran through some of his classics.

Rocking a black Brooklyn Nets cap, Ray Ban Wayfarers, a dark grey shirt, and his notorious cane, Jidenna picked used some of the props and toys provided as he gave impromptu renditions of tracks off his debut album, ‘The Chief’.

“It’s a pleasure and honor to be here with y’all,” he said during his introduction. “I didn’t know there were so many of you that worked here, but it makes sense because you truly are a beacon of light for, not just radio, but information in this information age. Long live NPR, long live ‘Tiny Desk,’ and long live the chief.”

Sipping whiskey out of the bottle, Jidenna performed “Trampoline,” “Bambi,” amongst others. He was joined by his band made up of George Peters on percussion, Andre Brown on bass and keys, Jordan Hemby on drums, and William Gittens on guitar.
