J. Cole Covers Billboard & Talks Fame, Trump, Nas, Social Media & More [PEEP]

Front Cover Cole!

In the midst of touring the country on his “KOD TOUR,” J. Cole takes some time off for an interview and photoshoot for the Billboard magazine cover.

Coming off of his ‘KOD’ album Cole sat down with Billboard to discuss a wide range of topics in Pop Culture like Donald Trump Dump, social media and in hip-hop like upcoming projects, Nas, fame, XXXtentaction, and more.

“I swear to God, I be thinking about how to get un-famous but, I know it’s impossible” he says regarding fame. “Rarely do I feel the need to hop on Twitter or social media and chime in especially on
rapping music shit this shit is not real this shit is fucking fake this shit is high school this shit is
fucking celebrity worship”

He goes on to address the elephant in the room being Donald Trump Dump saying, “With Trump in office, I love that America gets to see the truth. If Hillary Clinton was in office, it would be the most fucking disingenuous shit because everybody would be thinking that everything’s cool because we got an incredibly qualified female president.”

Check out more topics in Q&A format below.

ON “1985” CRITICISM: “I don’t look at it as being harsh. I look at it as being a rap response record. It’s not even to someone [specific]; it’s a group of people who were on some ‘Fuck J. Cole’ shit, which, when I started peeking my head back into what was going on, was a shock. But even while I made the song, I was fucking with these kids. I was a fan. I was riding around playing Lil Pump just because I wanted to understand what it was, and the more I understood, it was like, ‘Damn.’ I was writing that song from a place of, like, smacking your little brother. I still love you, but I’ma smack you.”

ON XXXTENTACION: “I spoke to him on FaceTime one day in February for, like, three hours. His management reached out to [Cole’s manager Ibrahim Hamad] and asked if he could FaceTime me or call me. It was a super-intense conversation. He left a mark on me, just as a person.”

ON KELIS’ ABUSE ALLEGATIONS AGAINST NAS: “Yeah, that hurt. I ain’t going to lie. That hurts. It feels weird because I fuck with Nas, but I just have to be honest. I came up seeing too much fucked-up shit for that to be acceptable. I don’t care who it is. I don’t fuck with people abusing women, and I don’t fuck with people not taking care of their kids.”

Cole’s Billboard cover will hit shelves every where on September 29th.

New Video: XXXtentaction – “SAD!” [WATCH]

Following his memorial and on the day of his funeral, XXXtentaction’s estate releases the emotional visuals for his No. 1 single, “SAD!”

In the video X strangely enough attends his own funeral, where his dead body lays in a casket, as people look on and mourn his death. By watching the video the first reaction I got is he was killing his old self off and focusing on recreating himself as a positive figure.

X, real name Jahseh Onfroy wrote and creative directed the video himself.

Towards the end of the clip he meets an undertaker figure, who tells him to change for the better and spread love instead of hate. The man goes on to say, “The world is in need of change,” he says. “Humans must learn to love and compromise rather than destroy.”

Joey Bada$$ & XXXtentaction Put Their Twist On “King’s Dead” [LISTEN]

Some how, some way talented New York rapper Joey Bada$$ ends up on a record with Florida clout chaser, XXXtentaction. Both artists collaborate and put their twist on Jay Rock’s “King’s Dead” single off ‘Black Panther: The Album’, the soundtrack for Marvel’s “Black Panther” movie.

Badmon kicks things off with braggadocio raps about being the “youngest under 30 on the Forbes list” and address the king of New York conversation by rapping, “You n****s worried ’bout the crown, worried ’bout the crown / Fuck it, you can tell them clowns they can keep it.”

Many believe that was a dig at fellow New York rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine and although it might be, this is not the kind of blog where stuff gets stirred up like a cocktail. You be the judge for yourself.
