Hours after being shot and found with “no pulse” near his hometown, rapper XXXtentaction has been pronounced dead by Broward County Sheriffs. He was 20-years-old.
XXX, born Jahseh Dwayne Onfroy, was said to be on the 3600 block of N. Dixie Highway in Deerfield Beach, South Florida, near a motorcycle shop, which he spent the early afternoon shopping for a bike. A gunman reportedly walked up to his BMW i8 and fired rounds, before making an escape.
According to dispatch audio the suspects were two African-American males wearing hoodies and the shooter wore a red ski mask. They were said to flee the scene in a black Dodge Journey with tinted windows, although other reports say it was a Chevy Tahoe.
X was rushed shortly after to Broward Health North as a trauma patient and pronounced dead shortly after.
The Florida rapper had been awaiting trial for alleged domestic violence against his pregnant girlfriend. His debut album ‘?’ debuted at No. 1 back in March and he was apparently changing his life around for the better. Prayers up.
Hip-hop has reacted to the news on Twitter. See what J. Cole, Kanye West, Tyga, and others said.
