Friends and family said goodbyes to their musical angel Whitney Houston yesterday at New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, NJ. The funeral was live streamed for fans and included some special performances from Stevie Wonder, Alicia Keys and R. Kelly. Stevie performs “Ribbon In The Sky” in the video above and Alicia Keys and R. Kelly pay their tributes in the videos below.
Legendary singer Whitney Houston passed away this afternoon at the age of 48 at the Beverly Hilton hotel. “I Will Always Love You” is getting me extra teary eyed today. Take a moment to celebrate the life and career of an amazing songstress by listening to one of her many beautiful records. I hope the Grammy producers are working on a tribute as we speak. Rest in peace, Whitney Houston.
Houston won two Emmy Awards, six Grammy Awards, 30 Billboard Music Awards, 22 American Music Awards during her record-breaking career. Her album “Whitney” was the first female album to ever debut at #1 on the Billboard Charts. She has sold 200 million albums world wide.
Houston holds an Honorary Doctorate in Humanities from Grambling State University in Louisiana.
Houston had one child, Bobbi Kristina, with husband Bobby Brown. Houston and Brown were married from 1992-2007.
