New Video: Wale – “Running Back” Feat. Lil Wayne [WATCH]

Football season is officially over with the New England Patriots winning the Superbowl last night. However, that’s not stopping Wale from dropping the visuals for his football-inspired single “Running Back” featuring Lil Wayne.

Both rappers hit various play actions in front of the color-changing background in the ACRS-directed video. As both rappers dance around while rapping their verses, models join them as cheerleaders on the sidelines.

In the video Wale pays his respects to former USC Trojans running back, Joe McKnight. McKnight was shot and killed by a man in his native hometown of New Orleans, following a road rage dispute. RIP.

New Video: Wale – “Groundhog Day” (Extended Version) [WATCH]

On Groundhog Day, Wale cleverly drops the visuals for his single “Groundhog Day.”

In the video, directed by the homie, Cameron Fairfax, Wale takes a stroll along the Hollywood Walk of Fame and hangs with fans who want nothing more than to take a few flicks with the MMG rapper.

On the Jake One-produced track Wale raps about how shady the “bougie ass” music industry is and how it is filled with culture vultures, phonies, fakes, and just people that are only there for convenience when they need something.

The original version of the song is just under 3 and a half minutes, but the video version goes a little over 8 minutes. Wale takes the extra time to elaborate on the industry by preaching while the screen turns into flickering visuals as a bad antenna signal on a television would.

It’s unknown whether or not Wale saw his shadow and what kind of repercussions it will have if he did, but either way dope video.

ESPN isn’t a usual place to debut new music, but don’t tell that to Wale. The DC rapper made an unprecedented move today, as he debuted “Running Back” featuring Lil Wayne on ESPN’s First Take.

While Wale performed with a live band behind him, Lil Tunechi came out of nowhere to deliver his verse on “Running Back.” The song is expected to be featured on Wale’s forthcoming album ‘S.H.I.N.E.’, the follow-up to 2015’s ‘The Album About Nothing’.

Both Wale and Wayne love sports as much as they do music and have been guests in the past on ESPN’s First Take. Wale even recorded the show’s theme song in the past.

New Video: Wale – “Folarin Like” [WATCH]

Friends are supposed to motivate one another to go harder. It looks like that’s exactly what J. Cole has done for Wale by addressing him in “False Prophets.” Since the song dropped this week, Wale has dropped “Groundhog Day,” “Folarin Like,” and now the video for the latter.

In the simple video for “Folarin Like,” the MMG rapper walks around in the rain as he spits lyrics over the classic DJ Premier “Nas Is Like…” instrumental.

As mentioned by Wale on the track, his forthcoming album, ‘SHINE’ is coming soon.

A few days after responding to J. Cole’s “False Prophets” with “Groundhog Day,” Wale is back with “Folarin Like,” a freestyle to the classic DJ Premiere-produced “Nas Is Like…” instrumental.

On the track the MMG MC raps about haters in the industry and how he dispises industry functions and happenings. Towards the end of the track Wale teases his forthcoming album ‘SHINE’ saying, “Folarin like none of these n****s / S.H.I.N.E. comin’, man, I’m tired of every last one of these n****s.”

wale-groundhog-day-680x680

Every hip-hop head is talking about J. Cole’s new song “False Prophets” and how he might’ve sent shots at Drake, Kanye West, Wale, and others.

Wale is the first to respond with a track to Cole on “Groundhog Day.” The MMG rapper spits about a lot of personal stuff, while also taking shots at Cole and other rappers with “Crooked Smiles” over the Jake One production.

Stay tuned for other responses which should follow. This is what hip-hop should be. It’s a sport and I’m a supporter for all non-violent beef.

QUOTABARZ

Wale – ‘Today…I Got Time’ [LISTEN]

wale

Wale has been one of the hardest working, most-consistent artist in 2016. Earlier this year he released his mixtape ‘Summer on Sunset’ and apparently there’s more where that came from as ‘Today…I Got Time!’

The 3-track playlist is loaded with material that prove his upcoming ‘SHINE’  album is close to being ready and will be something special.

The first track “Brightseat Road Freestyle” is my favorite of the three and provides that vintage Wale sound, that is reminiscent of his ‘More About Nothing’ mixtape.

On the “Heel/Face Freestyle,” he declares war on fake bitches, takes a shot at Donald Trump, talks foreign policy, his baby mama and calls himself Malcolm X.

“Solbiato Freestyle” offers some thoughts on police brutality and racial inequalities.

Listen to all 3-tracks below.
