June was a good month for new music and albums, headlined by Jay-Z releasing his 13th studio album, ‘4:44’. DJ Khaled, 2 Chainz, and SZA also made noise with their releases, respectively.
Fireworks have already been announced for the month of July with French Montana, 21 Savage, Aminé, and Tyler, The Creator announcing his album earlier today. Of course as the month goes on more projects should be released. Nav and Metro Boomin’ haven’t set a release date for their collaborative ‘Perfect Timing’ album as of yet, but they said it’s dropping this month.
Check out all the expected new project releases in the month of July below. More are expected to be announced soon. I will update the list as the month goes on.
21 SAVAGE – ‘ISSA’ (7/7)
One of Atlanta’s promising artists is 21 Savage. 2-1 hit the scene last year dropping his collaborative ‘Savage Mode’ mixtape with Metro Boomin’. The project did well and made 21 Savage a household name. In a few hours 21 will release his debut album, ‘ISSA’. The album will include the title track featuring Drake and Young Thug.
UGLY GOD – ‘THE BOOTY TAPE’ (7/7)
Having gained clout from his 2017 XXL Freshman of the Year placement, Ugly God has been flirting with the release of his ‘The Booty Tape’ for some time now. Having let fans down numerous times with delays, it appears Ugly God will finally drop the tape.
RALO & GUCCI MANE – ‘RALOLAFLARE’ (7/7)
Gucci Mane has already released a few projects this year. If you know Gucci you should already know he stays on the grind. Wop will team up with his 1017 artist, Ralo to bring their joint mixtape ‘RaloLaFlare’.
FRENCH MONTANA – ‘JUNGLE RULES’ (7/14)
After having to completely cancel his ‘MC4’ album last year due to leaks, delays, and an unfortunate incident where the album was put on the shelf too soon at a store, French Montana has reloaded the clip with a new album. ‘Jungle Rules’ will be French’s first album in four-years and will follow 2013’s ‘Excuse My French’. French’s sophomore album will include his highest charting single to date, “Unforgettable” featuring Swae Lee.
JAY 305 – ‘TAKING ALL BETS’ (7/14)
If you’ve been down with LA rapper, Jay 305 since “YOUZZA FLIP,” you must be ready for July 14th. The South Central rapper will drop his debut album, which will include the YG-assisted “All Around the World.”
TYLER, THE CREATOR – ‘SCUM FUCK FLOWER BOY’ (7/21)
Staying true to his trend of dropping a new album every-other-year, Tyler, The Creator announced his next album ‘Scum Fuck Flower Boy’ earlier today. The album comes as no surprise after Tyler dropped “Who Dat Boy” featuring A$AP Rocky and “911/Mr. Lonely” featuring Frank Ocean last week. ‘Flower Boy’ follows 2015’s ‘Cherry Bomb’ album.
TYGA – ‘BITCH I’M THE SHIT 2’ (7/21)
It’s been six years since Tyga dropped ‘Bitch I’m the Shit’. The 2011 mixtape included some of his biggest singles like “Make It Nasty,” “Bitch I’m The Shit,” and “The Motto” featuring Lil Wayne and Drake. Since then Tyga aficionados have been waiting for the follow-up and on July 21st they will get it.
TRAE THA TRUTH – ‘THA TRUTH, PT. 3’ (7/21)
Southern veteran rapper, Trae Tha Truth announced his third and final album ‘Tha Truth, Pt. 3’. The original ‘Tha Truth’ project of the series was released in July 2015 and received high praise and critical acclaim. Given no delays, Trae should deliver his finale July 21st.
AMINÉ – ‘GOOD FOR YOU’ (7/28)
At the end of the month West Coast artist, Aminé will release his debut album, ‘Good For You’. Aside from being at 2017 XXL Freshman, the kid has showed promise and has yet to miss on a release. His debut album will include features from Kehlani, Ty Dolla $ign, Nelly, and others.
STALLEY – ‘NEW WAVE’ (7/28)
One of the forgotten artist on the MMG roster, Stalley will release his 14-track LP July 28th. A few days ago he released a single off the project called “Madden 96” that showed a lot of promise.
AUGUST ALSINA – ‘DRUGS’ (?)
A few months ago August Alsina shared his first single in a long time and shortly after he announced his next album ‘Drugs’. There hasn’t been too much chatter on a release date since then, but it was expected to be released this month.
NAV & METRO BOOMIN’ – ‘PERFECT TIMING’ (?)
One of the most anticipated tapes of the summer has to be Nav and Metro Boomin’s collaborative ‘Perfect Timing’ EP. Although there hasn’t been a release date announced, Nav said on Instagram that the project would be dropping this month. I expect this tape to be pure magic. Can’t wait.
Stay tuned for updated releases as they unfold with “Who’s Dropping: July.”
