If you’re not up on Tobi Lou yet you really gotta get up from another that rock you’ve been living under and get familiar. The Chicago native made his way on the scene with his single “Troop” that was a splash and now he returns with his latest, “Orange,” which he debuted on the COLORS show.
One of the most exciting rising rappers is undoubtedly Chicago’s Tobi Lou. If you’re unfamiliar with the young spitter he broke into the scene with his single “Troop” that made a lot of noise. He’s looking to follow that success up with his latest single, “Goat.”
When you think of the Chicago music scene, names like Kanye West, Common, Twista, Lupe Fiasco, Chief Keef, and Chance the Rapper (to name a few) automatically come to mind. The next one out the Windy City talent-filled pool appears to be Tobi Lou.
His Smino-assisted “Troop” single has been buzzing on the Internet and it now has an extended life thanks to the dope, artistic, animated visuals. Directed by Glassface, the 3D/2D hybrid video combines real life images along with animation. The 3D bear in the video undoubtedly pays homage to fellow Chicagoan Kanye West and his Takashi Murakami-designed ‘College Dropout’ bear.
The captivating lyrics align with the dope visuals as everything comes full circle and it all comes to life. Be sure to keep an eye out for Tobi, as he is on the come up.
