The 10 Most Anticipated Albums Of 2018 [PEEP]

Last year brought us many gems as far as hip-hop and R&B albums go. We received Kendrick Lamar’s masterpiece ‘DAMN.’, Jay-Z’s ‘4:44’, Drake’s ‘More Life’, Big Sean’s ‘I Decided.’, and even Eminem chipped in with his fourth quarter surprise ‘Revival’ album.

I’m sure there were some artists you expected to drop projects last year that didn’t, as many albums faced delays and others continue to be worked on. With that said I have compiled a list of “The 10 Most Anticipated Albums of 2018.”

In no particular order I have listed the 10 albums I feel the culture needs this year and the general public is yearning for. Let’s get to it.

Screen Shot 2018-01-03 at 12.50.38 AMDRAKE – ‘TBD’

As of late, Drake has been posting several pictures of himself in the studio, hinting at his next album release. The 6 God has been notorious for releasing an album in the first two quarters of the last couple years. Last March he dropped ‘More Life’ and in April of 2016 he delivered his ‘Views’ album.

We know Drake has something in the chamber as he’s one of the hardest working in the industry and he’s recently popped up at clubs and parties previewing unreleased material. There is no title as of yet or official announcement, but we are reaching “scary hours” as he likes to call the lead-up to new work.

j-cole-rec-2017-henryJ. COLE – ‘TBD’

If you take a look at J. Cole’s last few album releases, you will discover he drops bi-yearly. Being one of hip-hop’s current top 5 artists, a new album from him is always received with open arms. In 2016 he gave us ‘4 Your Eyez Only’, which did not disappoint and also earned him his second platinum album with no features.

Being a consciously-woke, introspective rapper, there is surely a lot of material for him to rap about and stuff to get off his chest with the current White House administration and events happening in the world. We need a voice to shell out what we all think and say on the daily, except in a much more calculated manner and with a way larger platform.

kanye-west-zoom-e2f2f1be-34d2-4beb-9aa3-345303935037-1KANYE WEST – ‘TBD’

From rumors of being “holed up” in a studio on a mountain top of Montana to random paparazzi pictures of Kayne West hanging out with Kid Cudi, Big Sean, Pusha T, and others, it’s evident he’s up to something.

The last time he was “holed up” was for the workings of ‘My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy’, when he disappeared to an island in Hawaii and spent 24 hours a day at Avex Honolulu Studios, locked down in three different session rooms for days at a time, until it was finished.

Ye seems to be living his best life with his wife Kim and two kids North and Saint, but I’m sure the fire is still in him. He might make some different sounding music with different motives, but expect a new album from him in 2018.

Screen Shot 2018-01-03 at 1.24.06 AMMIGOS – ‘CULTURE 2’

The Migos made a lot of noise with their ‘Culture’ album and performed at virtually every big festival in 2017. Following the album, Quavo and Offset dropped a few singles and collaboration mixtapes, but fans are ready for the collective ‘Culture 2’ album.

Adlibs and all we should be getting that ‘Culture 2’ early in 2018, at least according to what Quavo said at a recent show.

Screen Shot 2018-01-03 at 1.45.42 AMPUSHA T – ‘KING PUSH’

Pusha T has his hands full at all times these days being the President of Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music imprint. Possibly that is what has delayed his next album, which many thought would be released last year.

The album seems to have a title in ‘King Push’ and Pusha has released a few singles like “H.G.T.V.” and “Circles” featuring Ty Dolla $ign and Desiigner, which might be on the album, although they were released in 2016.

Either way, we should definitely get a new album from El Presidentè this year.

Screen-Shot-2016-01-30-at-9.18.14-PMNAS – ‘TBD’

On DJ Khaled’s 2016 ‘Major Key’ album was where Nas’ forthcoming was first teased. The third single “Nas Album Done” alludes to the legend’s forthcoming album being complete and on the horizon, although there was minimal talk about it after that.

Nearly two years have passed and here we are still waiting for it. In an interview with Billboard, Nas discussed the album vaguely saying, “It’s not done until it hits the streets,” leaving us to wonder if it ever will.

Not quite sure what the hold up is, he’s dropped singles and been featured, but maybe sample clearances and signatures is the only thing holding back the Queensbride rapper’s first album since 2012’s ‘Life Is Good’ album.

Screen Shot 2018-01-03 at 1.38.18 AMNICKI MINAJ – ‘TBD’

Nicki Minaj has spent the last year shaking critics for dragging her in the Remy Ma beef and attempted to give her “Queen of Rap” crown to Cardi B, who rose to the scene and dominated in her early stages.

There’s a lot of motivation for Nicki to release a new album in 2018 and being one of the most consistent female rappers/Pop stars/Icons the culture really needs it. Now I’m sure one of you trolls is going to try and argue this, but if you take a look at her track record, you can’t in your right mind argue her accolades.

Let’s hope we get some new fire Nicki Minaj in 2018 with her fast spitting, raunchy raps. With or without the Young Money umbrella, there are more hits in her.

Screen Shot 2018-01-02 at 9.57.55 PMCARDI B – ‘TBD’

Who has a better 2017 than Cardi B? If she has a clone, perhaps the clone. Aside from that there aren’t too many other answers that one could give to a question like that. For peeps sake, Cardi dominated the charts with her debut “Bodak Yellow (Money Moves)” single and followed up making Billboard chart history.

She recently released her second single, “Bartier Cardi,” which seems to be trending upward on the charts, but the culture is ready for her debut album. Perhaps we will get a full album and not a bunch of one-offs or a mixtape.

Screen Shot 2018-01-03 at 8.06.00 PMSCHOOLBOY Q – ‘TBD’

TDE is one of the most calculated labels in the industry and in hindsight are five years ahead. Last year they focused on Kendrick Lamar, SZA, and other up-and-coming acts. With that out the way, it should be time for ScHoolboy Q to release a new one.

Back in 2016, Q dropped ‘Blank Face EP’, which was a success for him and indications point to him giving the fans a solid follow-up int 2018.

Nipsey-hussle-victory-lapNIPSEY HUSSLE – ‘VICTORY LAP’

With a new Atlantic Records partnership in the fold, Nipsey Hussle is ready to release his highly-anticipated debut album, ‘Victory Lap’. His first single “Rap N***as” has the streets on fire and the hype has only increased.

Nip will drop ‘Victory Lap’ on Friday, February 16th, which is the start of NBA All-Star weekend in LA. Stay tuned.

HONORABLE MENTION:

kendrick-lamar-bio-pic-1KENDRICK LAMAR – ‘TBD’

After delivering such a stellar, critically-acclaimed album in 2017 with ‘DAMN.’, hip-hop enthusiasts are already craving another Kendrick Lamar album.

Not sure if we will actually get it, but it shouldn’t be so farfetched considering there was rumors of a second K. Dot album dropping a week after ‘DAMN.’ did.

New Music: Nipsey Hussle – “Been Down” Feat. Swizz Beatz [LISTEN]

It’s known that Nipsey Hussle will drop his highly-anticipated debut album, ‘Victory Lap’ on February 16th of next year. In the meantime, Nip has been working the rollout for the album, starting with the release of “Rap N****s” and following that with the Swizz Beatz-assisted “Been Down” buzzy single.

Led by Swizz Beatz chants and a hard-hitting bassline, Nip freely flows about his established resumé, while also delivering hip-hop references and paying homage to  legendary labels like Ruff Ryders, Roc-A-Fella, and Murda Ink.

“It’s permanent/ I’ve been down, I deserve this shit / Ruff Ryder, Roc-A-Fella on my murda shit,” raps Nip while Swizz continues on the chorus, “Calling from the ghetto / We need help down here / Food around here / Or we gon’ spray everything around here.”

“Been Down” isn’t expected to land on ‘Victory Lap’ and is meant to only add hype to the album. Listen below.

Nipsey Hussle Drops New Single W/ Video + Reveals ‘Victory Lap’ Release Date & Cover Art [PEEP]

Still counting stacks from his new partnership with Atlantic Records, Nipsey Hussle pulled up on Sourmilk and Justin Credible last night to premiere his new single “Rap N****s” on the Power 106 #LIFTOFF. During his visit Nip also uncovered the cover art for his forthcoming ‘Victory Lap’ album and revealed the release date if February 16th.

His new single “Rap N****s” lets his presence be known over the dominating West Coast heavy production. While coming for industry rappers, Nip also shouts out different neighborhoods in LA and boasts about his success and independent money-making empire.

“I ain’t nothing like you fuckin’ rap ni**as,” he raps. “Hustler and the shooter, that’s a fact, ni**a.”

The Sergio-directed video includes a cameo from his ex-girlfriend Lauren London. It also shows clips of Nip kicking it in his hood, as well as aerial views of Los Angeles and New York, where he links with his East Coast family.

Watch below.

In the ‘Victory Lap’ cover artwork, Nipsey is shown vibing out in a black foreign convertible with his name on top and the album’s title on the bottom right side corner.

As I previously mentioned in another article, Nipsey will in fact release ‘Victory Lap’ on All-Star weekend. He mentions it on “Stucc In the Grind” off his ‘No Pressure’ collab tape with Bino Rideaux rapping, “I’ll see you n*ggas” All-Star weekend.

To celebrate the album, Nip will also be having a show at the Hollywood Palladium on February 15th, with tickets currently going for $15 a piece.

Nipsey Hussle & Bino Rideaux Link Up For ‘No Pressure’ Mixtape [STREAM]

While fans continue to wait for ‘Victory Lap’, Nipsey Hussle connects with frequent collaborator, Bino Rideaux for their surprise ‘No Pressure’ mixtape.

The mixtape comes a few days after Nip publicly announced his split from Lauren London on Twitter. In a tweet Nip explained that the two will continue to co-exist like a family and raise their child together saying, “ and I had a dope relationship and made a Beautiful child. we are deciding to separate and raise our Son together as the main priority.”

https://twitter.com/NipseyHussle/status/933384154225487872?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw&ref_url=http%3A%2F%2Fhiphop-n-more.com%2F2017%2F11%2Fnipsey-hussle-new-mixtape-no-pressure-with-bino-rideaux%2F

Although many will try and say the tape is a distraction from the split, I’m sure Nip is just heating up his highly-anticipated ‘Victory Lap’ album. On the mixtape’s closing track, “Stucc In the Grind,” Nip says he’ll see these “n*ggas” All-Star weekend, which may be alluding to a release for ‘Victory Lap’ on that weekend.

‘No Pressure’ meanwhile contains 8-tracks and a sole feature from Dave East on “Blueprint.” Production is handled by a mixture of Mike & Keys, G Ry, Axel Follie, and more.

Nipsey Hussle Shares His Story Of Opening “The Marathon” Store In Documentary [WATCH]

1497489311_936e94799a6cc949d2d8a4814e5b33ce

Nipsey Hussle has done a lot outside of being an accomplished rapper and making history by selling his ‘Crenshaw’ mixtape for $100 a pop. Nip’s alias is Neighbahood Nip, which comes from being a part of the Neighborhood Crips. The “Neighbahood” in his name now has a different meaning with the rapper doing a lot in his community and buying the block back.

Since breaking into the game Nip has repped his city and neighborhood of Slauson and Crenshaw. A few years ago the rapper opened his first The Marathon store, which carries his clothing, mixtapes, and other items. Around the corner he opened his own Fatburger franchise and now he’s getting ready to open his second The Marathon store.

Nip recaps the journey to opening his first store and previewing the second in the Chucky Millions-directed documentary. The 40-minute documentary delves deep into the struggles, setbacks, how they got started, and where they were selling merch before they had the store.

Watch the documentary below and be sure to hit the flagship store located at 3420 W. Slauson Ave #F Los Angeles, CA 90043 starting this Saturday, June 17th. Also, stay tuned for that ‘Victory Lap’ album coming soon.

buy-back-the-block-remix

Rick Ross bought back the block, but is back to make sure his homies do the same from the west to the east coast. The Bawse nabs Nipsey Hussle, E-40, Slim Thug, and Fat Joe for the “Buy Back The Block Refinance.”

Neighbahood Nip leads things off by rapping about his business ventures on Crenshaw, including his Fatburger, his TMC store, and his $100 mixtapes. From Crenshaw, Slim Thug takes listeners through Texas, where the Boss Hog talks about his hustle, real estate, and ambitions to buy the whole city. E-40 then takes folks to the Bay Area and debates franchising a Ralphs, a Whole Foods, or a Sprouts, and what he would be able to do with the money from his 9,000 square foot house. Fat Joe closes things out by spitting about putting the hood on his back and how he intends to build a 30-room mansion.

Ross originally dropped “Buy Back The Block” featuring 2 Chainz and Gucci Mane in November. Rozay is currently working on his EPIC Records debut album, ‘Rather You Than Me’. His 9th studio album is set to be released on March 17th. Ricky will also host the MTV Woodie Awards on March 16th.
