Justin Credible’s Album Spotlight: T R A P S O U L – Bryson Tiller

unnamed-3

Louisville’s own Bryson Tiller’s debut album ‘T R A P S O U L’ is exactly what you need this fall. His debut goes entirely without features, including production from heavyweights like Timbaland, his go-to producers Milli Beatz, Sky Sense, Fade Majah, and others. It’s safe to say Bryson Tiller is here to stay.

As a Kentucky native it’s not often we get hip hop artists that come out of the blue grass state, but with a style that marries Rap & R&B perfectly.

From the Intro, to “Ten Nine Fourteen”, “Sorry Not Sorry” and “Been That Way” it’s non stop new waves, he created his own genre, his own wave and named it “Trapsoul”.

I had a chance to ride around the city listening to the album this past weekend. The tone of the album is not what you expect, he’s rapping on most of the tracks with a flow you will most likely have to listen to a few times to understand. Although Tiller himself has undergone an incredible come-up over the past year, his music has been slowly creeping up to the mainstream masses. I’m looking forward to giving it that extra push and spread the word about his musical talent.

I have a couple favorites on the album, Exchange, Don’t, and Been That Way just to name a few. There’s no doubt the guy is talented. He’s definitely a new artist that we can count on being around for a long time. Many R&B artists don’t put out full R&B albums, in this case it’s a full R&B album with his own “Trapsoul” twist to it.

Many people became familiar with Bryson off a song titled “Don’t”. It was previously released through his Soundcloud page and got over 10 MILLION plays so it naturally became the first single off his debut album. The production is open & mellow, the vocals fit the song well, the ladies love it, and all around it all comes together smoothly for him.

Another song that stands out to me is “Exchange”. The song samples the 90’s R&B classic “Swing My Way” by K.P. & Envyi. The sample was flipped very well and was overall produced by The MeKanics. Bryson comes with that vibe that makes you want to hit up your significant other and set up the Netflix & Chill situation.

If you love Drake, PartyNextDoor, etc. Then you’ll enjoy this album. Give it a listen and just enjoy the vibes. If you’ve heard the album already, I want to know what your favorite songs are. Let’s talk about it.
