It’s been an eventful year for Kendrick Lamar from having one of the best albums of the year, if not the best in ‘DAMN.’ to his seven GRAMMY nominations to killing every feature he has done this year. In what could be one of his last interviews of the year, K. Dot sat down with the legend Howard Stern to discuss a wide range of topics.
The unexpected nearly 2-hour interview came on Howard’s SiriusXM radio show. Kendrick begins the interview by speaking on his upbringing in Compton, why he never joined a gang, how he’s not respected by all of his peers, and told antidotes.
Kung-Fu Kenny then goes on to explain how he chooses his collaborations and how he chooses to work with certain people, his “Alright” anthem, breaks down all his alter egos, spirituality, desire to work with Anita Baker, a Prince collaboration that almost happened, how his “Control” verse was purely for sport and had no ill-will, and more.
In a non-music related discussion Dot shared a story of when he saw an alien at was six-years-old saying, “I remember this and words can’t describe it. It’s just a surreal moment.”
Grab some popcorn and listen to the full interview below. It begins at the 41-minute mark of the first clip.
