Check Out J.I.D.’s XXL Freshman Freestyle [WATCH]

Wasting no time, XXL has began to rollout their 2018 XXL Freshman Class freestyles. After kicking off the week with Smokepurpp’s freestyle, they unravel J.I.D.’s crazy hip-hop bars. The Dreamville rapper is undoubtedly the most lyrically talented artist on this year’s class and he shows it on the freestyle.

XXL Unveils 2018 Freshman Class [PEEP]

This year’s XXL Freshman Class includes some names that were expected to be included and others people were surprised to see. As always there has been a lot of negative chatter about the class and mention of names that should’ve made it.

Celebrating its 11th year, the publication seems unbothered by the negativity that has surrounded the list. This year’s class includes Lil Pump, YBN Nahmir, Smokepurpp, BlocBoy JB, J.I.D, Stefflon Don, Ski Mask the Slump God, Wifisfuneral, and Trippie Redd. Lil Skies won the 10th spot, which is elected by the fans but refused to participate in the cover shoot.

Last year’s class included MadeinTYO, Kamaiyah, KYLE, A Boogie, PnB Rock, Kap G and Playboi Carti, Anime, Ugly God, and XXXtentaction, who was the 10th pick. Other Freshman alumni includes Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, Big Sean, Travis Scott, Anderson .Paak, Lil Uzi Vert, Wiz Khalifa, and others.

XXL will be releasing introductions, freestyles, cyphers, interviews, and a roundtable discussion from the 2018 Freshman Class in the coming weeks. All artists with the exception of Lil Skies will perform at the XXL Freshman show in New York City on July 11th an Los Angeles on July 19th.
