Drake’s ‘Take Care’ Album Secures 250th Week On Billboard’s 200 Chart [PEEP]

When people debate on what Drake’s greatest album is, the general consensus always seems to be ‘Take Care’. The album was major for Drizzy, who was coming off his biggest single to date in “Best I Ever Had,” and maintained consistency with the album, eventually making him a household name.

Released back on November 15th 2011, ‘Take Care’ debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard charts with 631,000 copies sold in its first week. Just last week the album completed a 250 week streak on the Billboard 200 and currently sits at No. 105. It has sold over 5-million copies as of this year.

The album spawned many big singles for Drizzy including “Marvin’s Room,” the radio-ready “Headlines,” “HYFR” featuring Lil Wayne, “Take Care” featuring Rihanna, “Make Me Proud” featuring Nicki Minaj, and many more. It is 4x certified-platinum by the RIAA.

New Music: Trouble – “Bring It Back” Feat. Drake [LISTEN]

Atlanta’s Trouble links up with Drake on his new Mike WiLL Made-It-produced single “Bring It Back.”

On the track Trouble comes for haters rapping,  “Hating on that man won’t do you no blessing / Tryna teach a young ni**a flexin’ / Wanna go to war, but you ain’t got no money / Worrying ’bout these hoes and you ain’t got no money.”

Drake follows suit by addressing his enemies and namesayers that got his name in their mouth as he spits, I don’t play no games, boy, I’m at your head / All about the family, ni**as took the pledge / Now you gotta own up to that shit you said.”

Back in March Mike WiLL told Justin and Sourmilk about the single in an interview and explained how it came to fruition.

“Me and Trouble did a whole project in like three or four days, and then I let Drake hear it and Drake was like, ‘Yo, this song is crazy,’ and he ended up hopping on that joint, smoking that joint,” he said. “We shot the video and everything. We’re just trying to make sure that project is all the way ill and complete and done.”

Diddy & Drake Lead Hip-Hop’s Highest Paid Artists In 2017 [PEEP]

Puff-Daddy-Drake-Getty

A conversation that is often had amongst hip-hop aficionados is who’s dominating the game in revenue. Thankfully the good folks over at Forbes compiled their yearly “World’s Highest-Paid Hip-Hop Artists,” featuring the 20 wealthiest musicians and moguls in the game.

Leading the pack at No. 1 with a total revenue of $130-million in earnings is none other than Diddy. As you now Diddy has his own television network in RevoltTV, Ciroc Vodka, DeLeon Tequila, Aqua Hydrate, still has a roster of talent at Bad Boy, gets royalty checks on the regular, and has other business ventures. In addition Puff sold his SeanJean clothing for $70-million earlier this year.

At No. 2 is Drizzy Drake with $94-million American dollars (not Canadian). A big chunk of The 6 God’s income comes from his music sales, touring revenue, and having endorsement deals with Apple, Nike/Jordan Brand, and Sprite also help tremendously. This figure should increase substantially when his $200-million LiveNation deal goes through.

Jay-Z comes in at No. 3 with  $42-million thanks to his Roc Nation label, TIDAL streaming service, Paper Planes clothing brand, Puma deal, and many other investments and business ventures.

Newcomers on this year’s list include Chance The Rapper at No. 5 with $33-million and Lil Yachty at No. 20 with $11-million. A notable name that didn’t make this year’s list is 50 Cent, who figures to be back on it once his STARZ and BET contract dollars come in.

Peep the complete Top 20 list below via Forbes.

Hip-Hop’s Top Earning Acts of 2017:

Drake Isn’t On The Billboard Hot 100 Chart For The First Time Since 2009 [PEEP]

6359163519495130661951196911_DRAJW

For the first time in 430 weeks, Drake finds himself off Billboard’s Hot 100 chart. One of the most-accomplished artists of this decade, Drizzy has broken numerous records and garnered all sorts of accolades, but today marks the end of his epic run according to Chart Data.

Back in May Drake became the first artist in history to remain on the Hot 100 chart for eight consecutive years, dating back to 2009. May 23rd 2009 he entered the chart at No. 92 with his heartthrob single, “Best I Ever Had,” which eventually peaked at No. 2.

Earlier this year, the 6 God also celebrated the record of most Hot 100 hits by a solo artist with 154, passing his mentor, Lil Wayne. That’s a very commanding feat, considering Billboard Hot 100’s rich 58-year history.

Drake has looked merely invincible at times, but his lack of ‘More Life’ promotion may have hurt his feat. Perhaps a bit more promotion or the release of a music video or two would have kept the streak alive. Either way, I’m sure he’ll come back with a vengeance and continue to dominate and break records.

Luckily for Drizzy there’s more charts. He’s currently dominating Billboard’s 200 chart with ‘More Life’ currently at No. 13, ‘Views’ at No. 33, ‘Take Care’ at No. 76, ‘Nothing Was the Same’ still charting at No. 119, ‘If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late’ at No. 126, and his collaborative project with Future, ‘What a Time to Be Alive’ at No. 188.

Rest assured there’s more hits on the way. At his recent OVO Fest he mentioned he was gonna go work on his next album in Toronto.

New Video: French Montana – “Whiskey Eyes” Feat. Chinx [WATCH]

drake-french-whiskey

On French Montana’s recently-released ‘Jungle Wars’ album he showed his loyalty to his day ones and how solid he is. The Coke Boy rapper put Max B, (who is currently incarcerated) on a track with The Weeknd, while also adding deceased rapper, Chinx on “Whiskey Eyes.”

In the video for “Whiskey Eyes” French honors his late friend, Chinx. The Majik Films-directed visuals begins with a video of Chinx cheering to the Coke Boys and popping a bottle of Dom Perignon. French then goes on to rap about his ups and downs and losing Chinx.

French also puts Chinx son in the video next to a portrait of the fallen rapper, that was painted on his birthday.

New Music: PARTYNEXTDOOR – “Freak In You (Remix)” Feat. Drake [LISTEN]

pnd-drake

Episode 46 of OVOSOUNDRADIO served up several new gems. Amongst the new music dropped on the show was Drake’s “Signs” single, Majid Jordan’s “Gave Your Love Away,” and PARTYNEXTDOOR’s “Freak In You (Remix)” featuring Drizzy.

On the remix of the Jodeci-inspired single, Drake adds a verse where he sings, “I got a big G-Wagon, I don’t mind sharing, / We can get wild like Olivia, we can get stoned like Sharon / Wrote Take Care, but they push me to the point where I’m just not caring / I’m just more ready than petty nowadays / Young and in control, even when they stoop low / I see anything is anything and everything’s a go.”

New Music: Drake – “Signs” [LISTEN]

Screen Shot 2017-06-22 at 5.54.25 AM

It’s Fashion Week in Paris and to celebrate the event Drake teams up with Louis Vuitton for his new single “Signs.” The 40-produced track draws its inspiration from Louis Vuitton’s upcoming SS18 collection and the brand’s style director, Kim Jones.

Mr. Kim Jones first announced the song on his Instagram with a caption that read, “We are very proud to announce that Drake @champagnepapi will be premiering a brand new song inspired by our #louisvuitton #pfwSS18 collection. Hear it first at 2:30pm Paris time tomorrow on www.louisvuitton.com.”

Back in May Drake shared a photo on IG of himself at the studio toting a Louis Vuitton bag and wrote he was “visiting 40 today.” The photo instantly sparked rumors of new music and “Signs” is the confirmation. In my opinion the runway single is stronger than the DJ Khaled collaboration “To The Max.”

DJ Khaled Delivers New Single “To The Max” Feat. Drake & Shares Artwork For ‘Grateful’ [LISTEN]

dj-khaled-drake-to-the-max

THE DRAKE VOCALS ARE IN!

DJ Khaled has shared several keys on his SnapChat regarding upcoming collaborations. One of the most teased collabs is his and Drake’s “To the Max.” Using his character, Khaled teased the new Drizzy collaboration over SnapChat by simply asking if the Drizzy vocals were in.

The vocals are officially in with Billi (Khaled) and Champagne P. providing more chune for ya head top. Last year the duo took over the summer with For Free” off Khaled’s ‘Major Key’ album, and with “To the Max” they are looking to stay consistent.

In the past the duo has also collaborated on “I’m On One,” “No New Friends,” “Fed Up,” “All I Do Is Win (Remix),” and others. The rapport Khaled and The 6 God have built always shows in the music they make. The sound is consistently fluid and solid.

Look for this one to be on top of the charts and potentially be his third No. 1 off his upcoming ‘Grateful’  album, with both “Shining” and “I’m the One” reaching the top spot. ‘Shining’ will be executive produced by his infant son, Asaad, who graced the single’s cover art and album cover.

Khaled also shared the release date for ‘Grateful’. The artwork shows Khaled’s appreciation for his son on the cover, with baby Aasad relaxing in a lavish pool. In addition, Khaled announced the release date of June 23rd.

Get In The Mood With Drake & Sade’s “More Love” Playlist [LISTEN]

drake-more-love

On OVO Sound Radio’s latest episode from Saturday, May 27th, special guest Vacations took ‘More Life’ to ‘More Love’. The Brooklyn, NY DJ/producer dropped a compilation mash-up for the ages of Drake’s ‘More Life’ with select Sade songs.

The 5-track mix blends Drake’s latest critically-acclaimed album with Sade’s ‘Love Deluxe’. Vacations opens up the mash-up mix with “Can’t Cherish Everything,” combining Drake’s “Can’t Have Everything” and Sade’s “Cherish the Day”.

Other combinations include Drizzy’s “Get It Together” with Sade’s “Give It Up,” “Free Smoke” with “Lovers Rock,” “Passionfruit” with “Never Thought I’d See the Day,” and my personal favorite, “Gyalchester” with Sade’s “Skin.

Even though the two have never collaborated on a track together, it isn’t far-fetched. Sade was photographed at one of Drizzy’s “Boy Meets World Tour” shows with the rapper and a few days later The 6 God got a portrait of Sade tatted on his ribs (like he do not know what permanent is).
