It’s that time again, everyone’s favorite time (and by everyone, I mean ME), someofmyfavoritethings time! Since I started going on the road a lot more, my schedule has gone to hell. I used to try to put a monthly mix out, now I do it when I feel like it. Some of you know the deal with these mixes, just a super random mix of music. No structure at all, just me pressing record and scrolling through my Serato. Here’s some of the stuff I’ve been listening to lately.

In part 2 of the L.A. Leakers’ sit down with Machine Gun Kelly, MGK discusses the features on his first major label debut album, Lace Up. The Cleveland native states, “When you say these people, make sure you know it’s the classic… Lil Jon. When you say it’s the Twista, make sure you know it’s the classic Twista. When you say the DMX, make sure you say the classic DMX, the ‘Dark Man X.’ When you say the Tech N9ne and Twista and MGK on one joint, you say the classic MGK, Tech N9ne and Twista on one joint.” MGK also tells the story behind his Young Jeezy collab and how he thought it wasn’t going to happen.

Luke Christopher – TMRW, TMRW w/ The L.A. Leakers (Mixtape)
Hmmm… Where to begin… This shit is amazing. Our guy, Jason Salvador, pitched us on doing a mixtape with a kid named Luke Christopher who we weren’t really familiar with. Being that Jason is family, we decided to give the music a listen and DAMN were we happy that we did. Luke Christopher not only writes his own music, but he produces most of it as well. He produced this whole tape with the exception of 2 records. I’m not gonna ask you to download this, because if you don’t now, it will end up in your iPod eventually. Good, quality Hip-Hop. You’re welcome in advance.
Video: DJ sourMILK in Michigan
Shout out to my man, Mr. Whittington, put together an ill video for me. We shot this somewhere in Michigan. I don’t really remember what city we were in exactly, the shit was rockin’ though!
Mixtape: DJ sourMILK (@djsourmilk) – someofmyfavoritethingsapril2012
So I completely flopped on the #HipHopYearbook for this month. I’ve been on the road for almost the last 2 months, so I haven’t been able to record for the year 1992. I did have a random mix in the stash though, so I figured I’d use it as a new somft mix. I started doing these, someofmyfavoritethings mixes, in 2008. Just a random mix of music… New, old, funky, poppy… Whatever the fuck I feel like listening to basically. SOME OF MY FAVORITE THINGS!!!! So here’s one for the month of April, 2012. I’ll try to continue with the #HipHopYearbook next month, but until then, here’s this… That’s my Dad as my artwork by the way.

1990… For those that don’t know, I started a new mix series, every month is a different year in Hip-Hop. For the month of Feb, it was 1990.
Shout out to my man, Boogie B, from So Much Soul for always lacing me with the illest artwork!!!
