The BET Hip-Hop Awards 2012 aired earlier this week, yada yada yada, let’s cut straight to it, the BET Hip-Hop Awards 2012 Cyphers were also aired. So being that we’re from the West Coast mecca, Los Angeles, we had to show love to the “West Coast Cypher” first starring a mixture of best coast veterans and up-and-comers: Xzibit, YG, Kurupt, E-40, DJ Quik, Kendrick Lamar and Snoop Dogg.
There were a few standouts this year (yes, I watched all the videos) so in my opinion, standouts include Hopsin, Joey Bada$$, Kendrick Lamar, Talib Kweli, E-40 and ooooh we can’t forget the little heartthrob Lil Niqo. There was also an MC, Kosha Dillz, who rapped in Hebrew. Multicultural raps are always welcomed and when are we going to get a Latino rapper on a cypher? Just throwing that out there.
