Ty Dolla $ign dropped a new song recently entitled “Ego Death,” which features Kanye West, Skrillex, and FKA Twigs. Dolla $ign joined Justin Credible and DJ Sourmilk on Zoom to catch up and talk about several things.
Dolla $ign talks about how the record came together, his approach when it
comes to collaborating with other artists, dealing with people’s egos and his come up with YG.
In terms of how “Ego Death” came about, Ty mentioned that he produced the beat and laid out his vocals first. He then shared the song with Kanye in Chicago while they were working for Ye’s unreleased albums ‘Yandhi’ and Yeezy immediately laid out his own verse.
Ty goes on to share a story of how he knew about YG because of his childhood friend Big B, who recently passed away. He also gives us a scoop on how he got on the 2019 hit song “Hot Girl Summer” with Megan Thee Stallion and Nicki Minaj. Originally, it was only supposed to be Ty and Megan on track but then Nicki Minaj added more flavor to it and the song became an anthem.
Ty Dolla did not shy away from asking his own questions for the L.A. Leakers as he asked both Justin and Sourmilk what they’ve been eating during this pandemic to which Sourmilk responded he is on the microwave vibes while Justin is on the air fryer vibes.
To cap off the interview, Ty gives us an idea of what to expect from his upcoming album with the release of his new single and also hints at a Drake collaboration.
