Justin Credible’s Album Spotlight –“Fetty Wap” – Fetty Wap

unnamed-1
In the past year, rapper Fetty Wap, has had one of the most monumental rises in rap in the past few years. Despite being a newcomer, the Patterson, NJ-based rapper’s debut single “Trap Queen” became a huge smash hit.

Any thoughts of calling him a ‘one-hit wonder’ were quickly dismissed when he released singles like “My Way” and “679”. The Drake and Kanye co-signs were somewhat encouraging, and now after such an overwhelming year, Fetty Wap’s debut album has been released to help bring his crazy year full circle.

We all know Fetty Wap for the hits he’s given us this year, but I was definitely eager to find out if he can keep it going on this album. I gave the full album a listen and there were a few songs that I think can be potential hits for him and others that feel like album fillers.

Fetty Wap is no doubt a hit maker. Having 4 songs in the Top 10 at once is something no artist has achieved other than the late great Michael Jackson. Aside from the hits on this album, I really enjoyed a couple songs like “RGF Island” and “I Wonder”.

This Fetty Wap album comes with 20 songs. I would say that’s a bit much for a debut but it does show some variety. Fetty has always been one to praise loyalty. His best friend Monty is on 8 of the 20 tracks to show love for being there since Day 1. That’s respectable.

The Drake remix to “My Way” isn’t even on this album. There are no features besides Monty, also no big producers . He kept it real “in house” for his debut.

“RGF Island” is the “clique” anthem on the album. The one song that I can play in the club and watch every one sing along to it with their friends. “I Wonder” is the song that is undeniable on the album. The melody is what makes the song so dope to me.

Fetty has songs for the ladies like “D.A.M.”, hits for the clubs like “679”, and street anthems like “Jugg”. There’s something for everyone who presses play on the album. If you’ve heard the album already, what are your favorite songs? What do you think of Fetty’s debut? I want to know your thoughts. Let’s talk about it.

Super excited to watch Fetty grow in the future. He’s here to stay and I think this album is solid!
