Audio: Thurz – Kings Keep Marching (Prod. by Sounwave)

Oh shit. I’m back, kinda.

Anywho, Thurz hits us with an unreleased track titled “King Keep Marching.” If you haven’t heard his latest single, “Prayer,” then mosey on over to this link to get ahold of the new song. Personally, I love the whole campaign for Thurz’ upcoming solo album, L.A. Riot, which is inspired by Rodney King, the 1992 Los Angeles Riots and recent North Africa Uprisings. All of the viral videos, tracks and any other content that was delivered to my inbox has been interesting and well put together. I never got the chance to wheatpaste but once I’m feeling better, you better believe I’m gonna be hitting up some L.A. walls.

Check out the L.A. Riot Manifesto below and see if you riot for the same causes. Preview of the song and the download link are below.

THE L.A. RIOT MANIFESTO

I RIOT, because BET has failed every generation after 1999.

I Riot, because Top 40 Radio plays the same
electro/techno-based songs 10 times an hour.

I Riot, because the artists that are forced upon the masses are hybrid clones with the same content in every song.

I Riot, because I haven’t felt the same love and attachment for an album since Redman’s Muddy Waters.

I Riot, for the freedom of music and art that has been
incarcerated

LA Event: Can You Hear Us Now? With Performance By Thurz, Trek Life, Rob Roy & More (FREE)

An upcoming rally organized by UCLA student leadership will mingle advocacy with music as a more innovative means of drawing attention to the budget crisis.

“Can You Hear Us Now?,” scheduled for Thursday afternoon in downtown Los Angeles, comes on the heels of a breakdown in bipartisan budget talks in Sacramento. The failure of a tax extensions measure for the June ballot means the recently approved $500 million cut to the University of California could double.

Between 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. organizers have promised musical acts and celebrity appearances for a more holistically student-friendly event.

Rapper Thurz of U-N-I and artists Trek Life and Rob Roy will appear free of charge, and Cultural Affairs Commissioner Kinnery Shah said more local acts are lined up to perform.

For more information about this event head on over to hearusnowca.com.

Audio: THURZ – Los Angeles

I’m very impressed with everything I’ve been hearing from Thurz‘ upcoming solo project, LA RIOT. From the “Rodney King” visual to instructions on how to wheatpaste, every product I’ve seen so far has been detailed and well thought out. Being from Los Angeles (or at least living in the outskirts), I had to ask myself the question “what does LA mean to me?” My answer: Los Angeles is opportunity, good weather, bad traffic and art. Traffic makes me cry. :|

Thurz also included a package that includes the dirty AND clean version of “Los Angeles” along with instructions on how to wheatpaste. Wheatpasting is the art of pasting posters on walls and yeah, you see a lot of that in the city of LA. I’m gonna try it out.

Audio: Los Angeles Leakers – Purp & Yellow (LEAK OF THE WEEK)

We’ll let you download it to see who’s all on it. We feel we got a nice representation of Los Angeles on this record, thank you to everyone that was a part of it and thank you to Fuzzy for helping us put this together! As for you downloading, call it an early Christmas present! AND YES, that IS Wiz on the hook saying “Purp & Yellow”.
