Justin Credible Album Spotlight: Dom Kennedy

unnamed-1

This Dom Kennedy album is something I’ve been playing in my car and riding to ever since it dropped. Dom has always been dope rapper to me. His flow is unique and you can automatically get that West coast vibe off of any record he’s on.

His latest offering “By Dom Kennedy” is exactly what we would all expect when we hear Dom’s name mentioned. Fresh West Coast vibes that make you feel good like the weather in LA is known for. Dom has that coolness in his presence.

Dom Kennedy has the West Coast modern sound. That being said, you can see a clear influence from rappers like The Notorious BIG, in the way Dom spits his bars on “By Dom Kennedy”. He actually made somewhat of a tribute track to Biggie on “Thank You Biggie”.

Over the course of Dom’s career you notice he has been playing with many different styles. With this album I think its safe to say Dom has found his overall style. His style consists of conceited bars, west coast instrumentals, heavy verses with light choruses, and relatively calm and slow raps.

One of my favorite tracks off the album is “Fried Lobster”. He’s letting it be known that he has been “getting fly all his life, and going hard all his life” on this record. Another one of my favorite tracks is “2 Bad”, Dom raps about telling the girl how “bad” she looks and him trying to get to know her. The song is a straight vibe. Other notable tracks I like are On My Hometown and Nobody Else.

A feature from a big artist would have made a slight difference here or there but overall it’s a really solid project. This may be Dom’s best album yet but I’m still excited to see Dom continue to grow and develop into an even bigger star. I’m no rapper so what the hell do I know but as a fan I would definitely love to see him experiment and change up his flow pattern from time to time but never change his content, cause In my opinion no one out here talks that fly sh*t like Mr. Leimert Park.
Dom is a promising artist that has a lot to achieve and with this new album “By Dom Kennedy” he is well on his way. Shouts to the OPM family go grab that new Dom Kennedy “By Dom Kennedy” on ITUNES!
