Video: Slaughterhouse Live At Paid Dues 2011

Good thing for the octogan cage. These flows need to be caged in! The group is called Slaughterhouse for a reason and the Shady Records members definitely brought their best to Paid Dues last weekend in San Bernardino, CA. Check out the footage that The Source captured just in case you missed the show like I did.

Video: Jay-Z’s Life + Times Promotional Video

If you haven’t heard the news, Jay-Z has officially launched a blog, Life + Times. He joins Chris Brown, Pharrell, Kanye West, Swizz Beatz and the other handful of artists that have developed a lifestyle blog for more than just showcasing their own music. Don’t worry, he wasn’t a lying when he said “I don’t do too much blogging” on Drake’s “Light Up.” It’s unclear if he actually blogs on the site.

The video above is the promotional video that you can find on the blog. Is that Freddie Gibbs I see at the :16 mark? Dope.

Video: J. Dilla’s Mom Announces New Dilla Project

Mrs. Maureen “Ma Dukes” Yancy confirms above that a new project titled, The Rebirth of Detroit, made up of entirely brand new and previously unreleased material from J. Dilla will be released later this year, and will feature only Detroit artists who had actually worked directly with the legendary producer.

“There’s a misconception that it has something to do with old projects. This is entirely new, fresh ideas, energetic, fresh and gifted. It is titled The Rebirth of Detroit, so no one will get it twisted.”

Can you hear that? That’s the sound of hip-hop heads around the world giggling like excited little girls.

Video: Theophilus London – Century Girl

Directed and produced by Theophilus London, the video for “Century Girl” features a montage of different women and live performances, like his show a few weeks ago in LA at the Key Club. There’s also a cameo from Liz Lee from MTV’s “My Life As Liz,” which I thought was pretty odd but hey maybe I’m just hating that she became a rap video vixen before I did.

Kidding!

Audio: Donnis – Ford Mustang (Prod. By Syience)

1) I’m loving the clean artwork.
2) One week until Southern Lights drops.
3) “Ford Mustang” has a strong Southern feel to it.

Can’t wait to hear how Donnis‘ entire project will sound. There will be 13 original tracks on Southern Lights presented by Karmaloop and is due April 12th.

Video: Big Sean – Weekend Recap 14

This weeks recap shows Big Sean doing quite a bit of press and then returning to Michigan to rock a show on his birthday.

With a healthy amount of this weeks footage shot in the Def Jam offices, I am loving all the cameos from my NY family in this one. My favorite being that of my usually camera shy boss, Rick Sackheim. Peep the 1:16 mark to see the man that keeps my bills paid.

Video: Big K.R.I.T. Breaks Down Tracks From ‘Return Of 4Eva’

In this video K.R.I.T explains in depth the thought process behind: Kings Blues, Free My Soul & Another Naive Individual Glorifying Greed and Encouraging Racism. We also talked about the use of the “N Word” and the impact of it on him (growing up in Mississippi) plus the pressure that comes with being an XXL Freshman. –Devi Dev

Audio: Jill Scott ft. Eve – Shame

This is a fun one, with all the “girl-power” and “love-yourself” lyrics you would normally expect from Jill Scott. This is the first single off Jill’s fourth album The Light of The Sun coming out later this year.
