New Music: Tyler, The Creator – “OKRA” [LISTEN]

Having a crazy fan base like Tyler, The Creator does, you have to stay providing new material to keep them entertained and sane. The Odd Future rapper comes through for his fans with his new surprise single, “OKRA.”

The bass-heavy song comes fully equipped with a colorful video, where Tyler is seen in front of a tree, then rides a bike and tricks out doing donuts. A$AP Rocky makes a cameo as he posts up with Tyler. The video comes with a “seizure warning,” which might be due to the crazy, unexpected cuts and side-by-side clips.

Tyler explained how the song came to fruition on Twitter writing,

back in jan i made a song on some rap shit before tour just talking,” he wrote. “and like 4 5 days ago i was like yo man i should shoot something to this and just put it out for fun and move on with my life or it’ll sit on my hard drive like alot of other things.”

He goes on to say,  “i will promote this song for the next 5 days, then continue to live a normal life,” he added. “thank you, holla.”

Tyler, The Creator Performs On NPR’s “Tiny Desk Concert” [WATCH]

NPR has been making a lot of noise with their “Tiny Desk Concert” series. For the latest edition the news & entertainment outlet nabbed Tyler, The Creator to perform some of his latest singles off his GRAMMY-nominated ‘Flower Boy’ album.

Backed up by a complete live band and backup singers draped in all-white, Tyler kicked things off by performing “Boredom” and followed that with “See You Again.” He then apologized for not being a talented single as he sang Kali Uchis’ part.

“Excuse my voice,” he said as the crowd laughed. “I can’t sing but I don’t fucking care because it feels good like a warm shower, I think.”

For the finale Tyler performed “Glitter,” and then gave a brief speech before walking off.

“That was cool. I guess we’re done. Thanks.” Before walking away, he continued with his speech. “I’ve only worked with one band and I fucking hated it and I’ve always hated rap music with bands I wanna hear 808s and not an Incubus kick drum.”

According to NPR this was the first time the performance was filmed at night. NPR said it was per Tyler’s request.

Tyler, The Creator Freestyles Over Jay-Z’s “4:44” On “ZIPLOC” [LISTEN]

One take is all it took for Tyler, The Creator to destroy Jay-Z’s “4:44” instrumental on his “ZIPLOC” freestyle.

Rapping over the infectious Hannah Williams and the Affirmations-sampled production, Tyler spits straight bars about having the best No. 1 album out, not getting plays on the radio, his album getting leaked two weeks early, and beating Meek Mill’s sales, while also shouting him out.

Tyler, The Creator Performs “911 / Mr. Lonely” On “The Late Show” [WATCH]

tyler-colbert

Performing his ‘Flower Boy’ single, “911 / Mr. Lonely” for the first time, Tyler, The Creator turned into Don Cornelius and made “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” look like an episode of the ’70’s show, “Soul Train.”

Joined on stage with Steve Lacy, Tyler sang the lyrics to the song and has the entire crowd vibing out and dancing slow. Following the performance, Tyler tweeted, ““i sang on live tv and it sounded great. my voice control from chur bum to this album has gotten so much better.”

During the interview portion of the show, Tyler told Colbert that ‘Flower Boy’ had less of him rapping then his previous albums, because he “just wanted to produce and have people sing.”

Tyler, The Creator Keeps It Controversial On New ‘Flower Boy’ Album [STREAM]

tyler

Not even an early leak could stop the hype around Tyler, The Creator’s new ‘Scum Fuck Flower Boy’ (or just ‘Flower Boy’ for public acceptance) album. Staying true to his pattern of dropping a new album bi-yearly, Tyler delivers his fourth studio album.

Along with 13-songs, the album is led by “Who Dat Boy” featuring A$AP Rocky and the Frank Ocean-assisted “911/Mr. Lonely.” Elsewhere you will find Tyler collaborating with Estelle on “Garden Shed,” Jaden Smith on “Pothole,” Rex Orange County on “Boredom” and “Forward,” and more.

Rumors of homosexuality have been swirling with Tyler’s lyrics on “Ain’t Got Time!” where he raps, “Next line, I’ll have em’ like woah / I’ve been kissing white boys since 2004.” It’s unclear if Tyler was just trolling or he really is. Either way he shouldn’t be looked at any different.

Catch Tyler performing the new album at his 6th Annual Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival in LA on October 28th and 29th.

In the meantime stream the album below.

New Music: Tyler, The Creator – “Ain’t Got Time” [LISTEN]

Many of you may have already heard this song as Tyler, The Creator’s entire forthcoming ‘Scum Fuck Flower Boy’ album was leaked on the Internet ahead of its Friday release date. The entire album possess that raw quality Tyler material, but “Ain’t Got Time” is definitely one of the standouts.

On the track Tyler spits provocative lyrics and alludes to being homosexual rapping, “Next line, I’ll have em’ like woah / I’ve been kissing white boys since 2004.” The Internet went into a frenzy when fans heard the line and controversy has since followed.

Tyler has said the track’s production is a combination of J Dilla’s “One Time” and “Introduction” by Bel-Sha-Zaar, which has been sampled in the past by Deee-Lite on “Groove Is in the Heart.” The original instrumental was made during Kanye West’s ‘The Life of Pablo’ sessions and expected to be on the album.

Although the singles contains no features, Tyler was lobbying for Nicki Minaj to jump on it and feels she played him.

“I wanted Nicki Minaj on that shit so fucking bad,” he explained. “You have no idea. I reached out to her so many times. Tried to get her number. She couldn’t think of nothing. She said, ‘I couldn’t think of nothing.’ That’s what they relayed. I’m like, ‘How the fuck you hear this beat and can’t think of shit? Stop that shit. Stop playing.’ I’m like, ‘Nicki playing me right now.’”

New Music: Tyler, The Creator – “Boredom” [LISTEN]

tyler-the-creator-boredom

In an unfortunate set of events Tyler, The Creator’s forthcoming ‘Scum Fuck Flower Boy’ was leaked a few days ago. Seemingly unbothered by the leak, Tyler drops a new single called “Boredom” featuring Rex Orange County, Anna Of The North, and Corinne Bailey Rae.

“Boredom” follows “Who Dat Boy” featuring A$AP Rocky and “Mr. Lonely/911” featuring Frank Ocean, Steve Lacy, and Anna Of The North.

Lyrics on the now-leaked album have alluded to Tyler perhaps being homosexual. He’s responded saying he’s been trying to tell us he’s gay. A friend of his also shared a video of Tyler with a caption that says, “the gayest guy I know.” It’s unclear whether he’s just trolling or actual is into men. It doesn’t really matter as we believe in equality on this side. SALUTE.

Listen to “Boredom” below.
