Who’s Dropping: New Releases In December [PEEP]

With December in full effect, the year is quickly dwindling down. The fourth quarter has came and while many artists have made a push to leave their mark on 2017 with releases earlier in the year, other artists have waited to the end. Projects that have been rumored are finally coming to fruition and artists that have remained mum are finally ready to share their latest body of work.

The majority of the year has been filled with speculation and rumors of a new Eminem album, which we will finally get this month. N*E*R*D also made headlines in early November when they performed their entire new album at ComplexCon. While many expected the group to drop immediately after the performance, they kept fans waiting. Others like G-Eazy and Jeezy have taken their time to perfect their latest offering which will be released on the same day as Em and N*E*R*D.

December is a month for many that brings gifts and if you are a fan of the culture, you will definitely be blessed with plenty of gifts, in the form of new music.

See everyone dropping a new project this month to end the year on a high.

MIGUEL – ‘WAR & LEISURE’ (12/1) OUT NOW

Undoubtedly Miguel is one of the best artist this decade has seen. His soothing vocals coupled with unique style is a knock-out formula that has been proven through his first three albums. Two-years departed from his last one, ‘Wildheart’, Miguel looks to replicate his success with the release of ‘War & Leisure’.

G PERICO – ‘2 THA LEFT’ (12/8)

G Perico has had a solid 2017. Earlier this year he celebrated his freedom from prison with a Tweet, where he shared his appreciation. Since being freed from prison he’s been completely focused on his music career. Back in April the South Central rapper dropped his ‘All Blue’ debut album and followed that by teaming up with G-Worthy and Cardo on ‘G-Worthy’. On December 8th he will release his third project of the year in ‘2 Tha Left’.

EMINEM – ‘REVIVAL’ (12/15)

Eminem’s ‘Revival’ may be the most anticipated album of the year. Stans on the Internet for months have been trying to figure out cryptic messages in hopes of pinpointing exactly when the album will drop. A few weeks ago, Dr. Dre made it official with a video that disclosed the release date of December 15th. ‘Revival’ will be Eminem’s eighth studio album and ninth overall. It comes four years after Em dropped his The Marshall Mathers LP 2′.

G-EAZY – ‘THE BEAUTIFUL & DAMNED’ (12/15)

So far G-Eazy hasn’t missed with any single he’s shared off his forthcoming ‘The Beautiful & Damned’ album. “No Limit” featuring A$AP Rocky and Cardi B continues to rise on the Billboard charts and is dominating clubs and radio. It is looking like this might be G’s most successful album of his career. It will also be accompanied with a cinematic short film that will include album cuts within.

JEEZY – ‘PRESSURE’ (12/15)

Last month Jeezy dropped two new singles in “Bottles Up” featuring Diddy and “Cold Summer” featuring Tee Grizzley. Those two singles appear to have been a warm up (or cold up) for Jeezy’s eighth studio album, ‘Pressure’, which will arrive December 15th. It will follow last year’s critically-acclaimed ‘Trap Or Die 3’ album.

Scarface_Deeply_Rooted

AD – ‘BLUE 89 C2’ (12/15)

I would say real West Coast rap is back, but it really hasn’t disappeared thanks to a list of rappers pushing it forward like Compton’s AD. On December 15th AD will release his forthcoming ‘Blue 89 C2’ project, which will include guest appearances from Wiz Khalifa, Busta Rhymes, Maxo Kream, and more.

New Music: Statik Selektah – “Man Of The Hour” Feat. 2 Chainz & Wiz Khalifa [LISTEN]

statik-man-of-the-hour

Just yesterday Joey Bada$$ dropped three new, mellow singles all produced by Statik Selektah. Today the DJ/Producer returns with his own new, mellow single “Man of the Hour” featuring 2 Chainz and Wiz Khalifa.

With piano, saxophone, a choir and DJ scratches, Statik creates a nice music bed for Chainz and Khalifa to go off on. Titty Boi leads things off rapping, “I welcome yours with open arms / I give your lady a throat massage / I put your house in my fourth garage / Perpendicular, ignorant crossed with articulate / Southside, using Ben Franklin for benefits.”

Wiz follows with his own raps about putting this generation on the best weed and “getting high as D’Angelo bars.”

“High as fuck off the joint that I just rolled / Riding ’round in a cloud of that kush smoke / Put my generation on the good dope / Now we all getting high as D’Angelo notes,” raps Wiz over the mellow production.

This single is expected to be on Statik Selektah’s upcoming ‘8’ project.

Statik Selektah ft. Sean Price & Mac Miller – 21 & Over (Video)

Seems like the gang is ready with their fake IDs (you know, just in case) in Statik Selektah’s “21 & Over” video. Mac Miller may be the youngest on set, barely making the cut at 21, but he holds his own over the Selektah beat. Keep your eye out for Joey Bada$$, ScHoolboy Q, Evidence and The Alchemist, who all make an appearance in the Guy Blelloch-directed video.

Statik Selektah’s Extended Play drops June 18.

Joey Bada$$ – Word Is Bond (Audio)

Word Is Bond

It’s not just a new song that’s being posted but the artwork of his upcoming album, Summer Knights, the announcement of said album and it’s release date, June 12th. Lots of information in one sentence, right? For the first Summer Knights single, Joey Bada$$’ has released “Word Is Bond” with a lovely musical arrangement provided by Statik Selektah.

Summer night approved.

Statik Selektah Discusses ‘Extended Play’ (Video)

I’m excited to hear Statik Selektah’s album Extended Play, out June 18th. With that being said, Xclusive Zone’s David Downer sat down with the hip-hop producer and chopped it up about a variety of things including his two epic leaks, “Bird’s Eye View” and “21 & Over.” He also talked about working with Jay-Z (soon) and shares his future plans.

Watch the interview posted above.

Statik Selektah ft. Sean Price & Mac Miller – 21 & Over (Audio)

21 & Over

If you’re under 21, you shouldn’t listen to this.

Statik Selektah kicked off his Extended Play promo with a solid single (TRUST ME ON THIS ONE) titled “Bird’s Eye View” and followed it up with another second strong leak, “21 & Over.” The single is available for purchase on iTunes before the album, Extended Play, hits stores on June 18th.

Statik Selektah ft. Raekwon, Joey Bada$$ & Black Thought – Bird’s Eye View (Audio)

Bird's Eye View

This that shit I do like. Sorry for (mis)quoting an old Chief Keef song but man, this new cut off Statik Selektah’s Extended Play is such a great track. Statik delivered bringing Raekwon, the young buck Joey Bada$$ and Black Thought together over an impressive beat with a beautiful sample. Black Thought’s verse is my favorite (like wow.) but everyone held their ground on “Bird’s Eye View.” I mean, they ooze with talent as soon as the beat drops.

I always enjoy hearing the scratching in Statik Selektah’s tracks not to mention he knows how to pick artists for his beats. His album Extended Play drops June 18. Just a heads up for good music headed your way this summer.

Action Bronson – Live From Kissena Blvd (Audio)

who you mad at?

This happened when I was working on the MTV Movie Awards last week. Action Bronson and Statik Selektah magic. Funk Flex’s mixtape sounds good to me so far. Peep the tracklist here.

For those of you who are unsure, Kissena Blvd. is a street that runs through Queens, NY. It also happens to be one of the oldest in Queens. Cool, right? Wikipedia never lies.
