New Music: Rapsody – “Phylicia” Feat. Buddy [LISTEN]

The lyrical prowess known as Rapsody might’ve dropped her best body of work to date in 2017 with ‘Laila’s Wisdom’. Since then she’s been rather quiet but made her return yesterday with The Cosby Show-inspired “Phylicia” featuring Buddy, where the two pay homage to their mothers. They released it on Mother’s Day but it just popped up on my radar today, so my apologies.

New Music: Rapsody – “Sojourner” Feat. J. Cole [LISTEN]

A match made in hip-hop heaven is Rapsody and J. Cole, who connect on their new collaboration, “Sojourner.”

Over the soulful 9th Wonder production, the North Carolina MCs hook up for a lyrical cook up. Using their witty wordplay both rappers show why they’re held to such high regards in the game. Cole comes through spitting introspective bars and showing his vulnerable side.

Scared that I’m too disconnected from the kids’ perspective,” raps Jermaine. “The world ain’t got no patience for some shit that’s introspective.”

Rapsody Showcases Her Skillset On ‘Laila’s Wisdom’ Album [STREAM]

rapsody-lailas-wisdom-1

One of the most slept-on female MCs in the game has to be Rapsody. With her thoughtful rhymes, attention to detail, little concern for public perception, and introspective views, she truly is the definition of real hip-hop. Ready to takeover the game, Rapsody delivers her ‘Laila’s Wisdom’ album.

Don’t let the rhymes fool you, we know she could rap (hence the name), but on this album she also shows her different abilities by executive producing the album along with Terrace Martin, Young Guru, and mentor 9th Wonder.

Rapsody, who appeared on Kendrick Lamar’s ‘To Pimp a Butterfly’ calls on the rapper for a collaboration on “Power,” which also features TDE’s Lance SkIIIwalker on the hook. Other features include Anderson .Paak, Busta Rhymes, Musiq Soulchild, Black Thought, Moonchild, GQ, and others.

Stream the entire album below, it’s pure fire and if you appreciate real HIP HOP, you’ll vibe to it.

Carolina’s Rapsody first teamed up with Kendrick Lamar on the ‘To Pimp a Butterfly’ single, “Complexion.” The pair reconnect on Rapsody’s new, powerful single “Power,” which also features TDE artist, Lance SkIIIwalker and is produced by 9th Wonder.

Sampling a classical track, Rapsody raps about abuse of power with the lyrics, “I ain’t five percent, unless we talkin’ top MCs,” she raps. “And I’m in the top of that, the rest beneath me, all cowards / When it spits, look around, it’s meteor showers / I watch the stars fall, fall, fall, yeah, that’s what you call power.”

“Power” is off Rapsody’s ‘Laila’s Wisdom’, set to be released tomorrow and include additional features from Anderson .Paak, Black Thought, BJ the Chicago Kid, Busta Rhymes, and more.

Video: Rapsody ft. Mac Miller – Extra Extra (Prod. by Khrysis)

Due to the overabundance of music daily, my post with the download for “Extra Extra” was lost in my drafts. Welp. It doesn’t matter because Rapsody‘s song “Extra Extra” now has a video to go along with her track featuring Mac Miller. Although the original featured HaLo, the video still provides a warm sunny visual that enhances the Khrysis-produced song. Get familiar with Rapsody before her upcoming project, Thank H.E.R. Now, drops June 21st.
