After taking a 6-year hiatus Cali trio Pac Div returned a few weeks ago with their new album ‘1st Baptist’. Specializing in eccentric lyricism and dope flows, the rap group is a breath of fresh air from newer acts. In support of the album they unload the split-screen visuals for “Gorgeous.”

I had the chance to sit down and chat with producer Scoop DeVille about the current success of “Poetic Justice.” After a few questions, we had a special guest join us, Pac Div member Mibbs. The duo discussed their joint EP, Freebass, which will be entirely produced by Scoop DeVille. “The sound is a really obscure way of making like, I would say, real bass-y 808 heavy grimy music… It’s a special piece of hip-hop,” said Scoop of the project’s sound.
Scoop and Mibbs also gave us a little preview of the EP’s title track, “Freebass.” You can see them playfully perform it throughout the interview. Yep, just another day out in sunny L.A.

While out in Monterey, California shooting with LRG for their Spring 2013 lookbook, Pac Div killed two birds with one stone and also shot their video for GMB‘s “Savages.” The overcast sky provided the perfect setting for the gritty track performed in the neighborhood in Monterey. L.A.’s rap trio Pac Div breaks down two tracks off their sophomore album, GMB, with Life + Times on the latest episode of “Decoded.”
Pac Div stopped by the studio with the L.A. Leakers Justin Credible, DJ sourMILK, and Fuzz Fantab. The L.A. trio talked about the meaning behind the title of their new album, who the mystery lady on their album artwork is, and working with Kendrick Lamar.
A couple of awesome acts (see the lineup in the flyer above) are congregating at The Roxy to raise money for the Midnight Mission and to donate toys to the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles. Tickets are $15 without a toy and $10 with a toy. We’re giving away a pair of tickets to the show and in case you’re the winner… you should bring a toy anyways!
