New Music: N*E*R*D – “Lemon (Remix)” Feat. Rihanna & Drake [LISTEN]

Over the weekend Pharrell made a guest appearance on Drake’s OVOSOUNDRADIO and when big names make guest appearances on the show, it usually means new music is on the horizon. Staying true to the format, Pharrell unleashed a remix of “Lemon,” reuniting Rihanna and Drake on a song.

The remix features a braggadocios verse from Drizzy rapping “My daddy told me listen, you better get some money/ & not die & go to prison/ so you see/ i got rich & stayed free.” Does Drake’s verse make Lemon that much better? With all the content he’s dropping is an album is certainly coming soon. Be sure to leave a comment below on what you thought about the remix.

N*E*R*D Perform “Lemon” On “The Ellen Degeneres Show” [WATCH]

Although N*E*R*D’s recent ‘No_One Ever Really Dies’ album failed to impress as many expected it to, their Rihanna-assisted “Lemon” single has been a bright spot, continuing to climb on the charts. The trio of Pharrell, Chad Hugo, and Shay Haley took over “The Ellen Show” to perform it.

Even without Rihanna, the group impressed with their energetic performance, which included a variety of dancers and ensemble. Every dancer on stage displayed their different talents, making for an interesting performance. A violinist also joined N*E*R*D and added a different element to the song.

N*E*R*D Makes A Comeback With ‘No_One Ever Really Dies’ Album [STREAM]

Back in November the trio of Pharrell, Chad Hugo, and Shay Haley known as N*E*R*D surprised everyone at ComplexCon when they turned their set into an unofficial listening party for their ‘No_One Ever Really Dies’ album. A month later the trio unleashes the album.

“The album’s not coming out tomorrow,” Pharrell told the audience at ComplexCon last month following their album preview. “We’re giving it to you. It’s yours. You got it before everybody else.”

With ‘No_One Ever Really Dies’, the group ends their seven-year drought and makes their comeback to music, after each member had been doing their own thing individually. In 2010 the group released ‘Nothing’, which was their last collective effort.

The album which has been years-in-the-making is laced with 11-tracks and features from Kendrick Lamar, Rihanna, Future, André 3000, Ed Sheeran, Gucci Mane, Wale, and M.I.A.

Stream it from front-to-back below.

New Music: N*E*R*D & Kendrick Lamar – “Don’t Don’t Do It” [LISTEN]

During a stop at Zane Lowe’s Beats1 show “World Record,” Pharrell premiered the latest single off N*E*R*D’s forthcoming ‘No_One Ever Really Dies’ album. The single, “Don’t Don’t Do It” features Kendrick Lamar and is by far one of the most anticipated off the upcoming album.

“Don’t Don’t Do It” is inspired by Keith Lamont Scott, an African-American man, who was fatally killed by police in Charlotte, North Carolina last year. Scott was killed after police forcibly entered his apartment to search for an man with an outstanding warrant. He was killed in front of his wife.

Pharrell spoke on the single’s intro which was written by Frank Ocean, and the unfortunate situation that cost Scott his life saying, “She’s telling the authorities that her husband has a TBI, that’s a Traumatic Brain Injury. They’re telling him to put his hands up or whatever and she knows, you can tell in her voice that she sees what’s going to happen. She’s saying, ‘Don’t do it. Don’t do it Keith. Don’t don’t do it.’ And of course you know the way that turned out—he was killed.

While on the show Pharrell also commended and praised Kendrick Lamar with a comparison to Miles Davis saying, “To me Kendrick is like probably a jazz artist reincarnated,” he said. “The way that he handles the pen is kind of how Miles Davis handled the trumpet. Or how Coltrane fingers just shifted and sifted through his saxophone keys. It’s like his melodies are as prolific and what he has to say has so much harmony and so much color in it.”

N*E*R*D’s ‘No_One Ever Really Dies’ album will include additional features from Rihanna, Ed Sheeran, André 3000, Gucci Mane, Future, and more. It is their first since 2010’s ‘Nothing’ and will be released this Friday.

Who’s Dropping: New Releases In December [PEEP]

With December in full effect, the year is quickly dwindling down. The fourth quarter has came and while many artists have made a push to leave their mark on 2017 with releases earlier in the year, other artists have waited to the end. Projects that have been rumored are finally coming to fruition and artists that have remained mum are finally ready to share their latest body of work.

The majority of the year has been filled with speculation and rumors of a new Eminem album, which we will finally get this month. N*E*R*D also made headlines in early November when they performed their entire new album at ComplexCon. While many expected the group to drop immediately after the performance, they kept fans waiting. Others like G-Eazy and Jeezy have taken their time to perfect their latest offering which will be released on the same day as Em and N*E*R*D.

December is a month for many that brings gifts and if you are a fan of the culture, you will definitely be blessed with plenty of gifts, in the form of new music.

See everyone dropping a new project this month to end the year on a high.

AD – ‘BLUE 89 C2’ (12/15)

New Music: N*E*R*D – “1000” Feat. Future [LISTEN]

Pharrell made it official last week that N*E*R*D’s forthcoming ‘No_One Ever Really Dies’ album will be released Friday, December 15th. The group has followed up the announcement with their third single off the album.

For the third single N*E*R*D has linked with Future for “1000,” which really showcases what the group does by creating different sounds and combining different genres to create abstract music. “1000” combines Hip-Hop, Funk, Rock, and Electronic music.

“1000” joins “Rollinem 7’s” featuring Andre 3000 and “Lemon” featuring Rihanna on the upcoming album. It will be released December 15th, the same day Eminem makes his own comeback with the release of his highly-anticipated ‘Revival’ album.

N*E*R*D’s New Album Will Include Features From Kendrick Lamar, Future & More [PEEP]

nerd-complexcon

This past weekend at ComplexCon, N*E*R*D was the talk of the town as they reunited for a superlative, memorable performance, that turned into an unofficial listening party for their upcoming ‘No_One Ever Really Dies’ album.

Although some fans were disappointed that the group didn’t perform any of their classic cuts, they were into a treat with a first-listen to the upcoming album. As Pharrell, Chad Hugo, Shay Haley performed the album joints, a mixture of dancers made for a killer set.

The album will include 11-tracks and features from Kendrick Lamar, Rihanna, Andre 3000, Future, Ed Sheeran, Gucci Mane, and Wale. N*E*R*D released the first single “Lemon” featuring Rihanna last week, which they played three times during their ComplexCon set.

‘No_One Ever Really Dies’ will be N*E*R*D’s first album since 2010’s ‘Nothing’ album.
