New Video: Nav – “Myself” [WATCH]

Although the single was released about a year ago, Nav drops the visuals for “Myself” off his self-titled, debut project, ‘Nav’.

In the Alex Lill-directed video the L.A. Leakers “Indie Pick of the Week” alumnist, gets trippy with different vibrant colors, psychedelic effects, and pill showers. As the rapper sings about his enemies, pouring up lean, drugs, and more he reflects with two twin models by his side, or is it one? You decide.

Watch the trippy video below.

With plenty of beautiful models around them, Nav and The Weeknd vibe out in the provocative video for “Some Way.”

The RJ Sanchez-directed video catches both XO artists at a photoshoot, where the models get their makeup, hair, wardrobe fixings, while even popping some XO pills before they hit the set.

“Some Way” is off Nav’s self-titled, debut mixtape.

New Mixtape: Nav – ‘Nav’ [STREAM]

nav-mixtape

One of the best up-and-coming artists, Nav drops his self-titled, debut project under XO/Republic Records.

A year ago I featured Nav as my L.A. Leakers “Indie Pick of the Week” and told y’all this guy was next. The Toronto artist was essentially a producer, who used his smooth vocals and Auto-Tune to evolve himself into a well-rounded artist.

On ‘Nav’, he wrote, produced, mixed, and mastered all 11 tracks. The only feature on the project comes from The Weeknd, although Metro Boomin, Rex Kudo, and DannyBoy Styles all earned production credits.

Nav has always had a solid work ethic and wicked production skills. He’s already announced his next project, ‘Perfect Timing’, a joint collaboration with Metro Boomin’. Read my original “Indie Pick of the Week” article on Nav HERE.

I see Nav continuing to blossom into one of the illest in the game.

New Music: Nav – “Some Way” Feat. The Weeknd [LISTEN]

Nav

Indie Pick of the Week alumni, Nav has been on a wave!

The Canadian producer-turned-artist dropped “Some Way” featuring The Weeknd. The single is the first off his upcoming, debut project, which will drop under the XO label.

The Weeknd kicks off the track by taking a jab at Justin Bieber, who recently said Abel’s music was “wack.” “Think your girl, think your girl, fell in love with me/She see my fuck and my tongue game a remedy,” sings The Weeknd, who is currently dating Bieber’s ex, Selena Gomez.

Nav follows The Weeknd’s verse and chorus with raps about his sex game and goes after the haters and name-sayers.

Fans won’t have to wait long for Nav to drop his debut project, as he recently announced on his Instagram that, “Im dropping my first project before the month is done.” In the meantime listen to “Some Way” via Apple Music below.

New Video: Belly – “Re Up” Feat. Nav [WATCH]

Belly rides with LA Leakers’ Indie Pick alumni, Nav in the video for the smooth track “Re Up” off Belly’s ‘InZombia’ mixtape.

In the Logan Pierce-directed video, the duo hit the highway looking to getaway from reality. The includes grainy, vintage footage that creates a VHS-like effect. On the track both Canadian rappers talk about their struggles with drugs and how substances has effected people around them.

Belly is currently embarking on the “Rubba Band Business: The Tour” with Juicy J till the middle of March. As for Nav, he’s came a long way since I featured him as my “Indie Pick of the Week” last year. After being featured on Travis Scott’s “Biebs In the Trap,” the Toronto rapper has been making moves with the XO collective. Good for him.

B-Nyce’s Indie Pick Playlist Vol. 1

Over the weeks I’ve spent countless amounts of time on SoundCloud looking for independent artists that stay on the grind and put out quality sound to give them a platform. This list recaps the first season of my L.A. Leakers: Indie Pick of the Week.

Don’t forget who put you on.

Toronto’s urban music scene has been a hotbed for talent the past couple years. Boasting with a hearty lineup consisting of Drake, The Weeknd, Tory Lanez, Belly, and others have made the “6ix Side” a force to be reckoned with.

This week’s indie pick, Nav, hails from Toronto and is looking to follow in the footsteps of his fellow Canadian contributors. Repping “The Rex” section of the 6ix, Nav is making strides by not only repping for the city, but also putting out quality music, while handling both the production and writing.

Nav couples 808 drums that blast on the weakest speaker system and provides revealing lyrics that lucidly take you on a ride with the producer/rapper/singer. Nav has also shown he has profound vocals and thunder through a track. It’s easy to see why Nav is next out of the talent-filled pool Toronto has become.

On the recently-released “On My Own” single, Nav melodically talks about his trust issues, shutting down record labels, Xanax trips, and doing “this on my own” and not “needing no help.” Listen to the full track below:

Nav has made his dreamy symphony and thumping production his trademark. The instrumentals coupled with his style of flowing, represent his artistry well.

His delivery has drawn comparisons to Texas rapper Post Malone. Aficionados have @’d Post showing love for the Nav’s “Myself” and “TTD (Ten Toes Down)” singles.

Listen to “Myself” below and tell me what you think in the comments section.

Nav was unfortunately unavailable for comment. Aside from his talents, there isn’t too many details to provide about Nav. One thing for certain is that he’s an explosive talent and WILL develop into a worldwide star.

Nav is next! Don’t sleep and don’t forget who put you on.
