DJ Khaled – “Nas Album Done” Feat. Nas [VIDEO]

Nas Album Done. That’s a major key.

DJ Khaled took his winning ways to the Bahamas to co-direct the cinematic video for “Nas Album Done” along with Eif Rivera.

The over 8-minute video for the song features Nas and is reminiscent of Hype Williams’ ’98 film “Belly” which also starred the God Son.

In the video you see both Nas and Khaled spreading irie vibes with Carnival dancers, lively outfits, cigar smoke and a lot of champagne and Ciroc.

“Nas Album Done” is the second video off Khaled’s first No. 1 album ‘Major Key.’

Justin Credible’s Album Spotlight: DJ Khaled – ‘Major Key’

image1

The past couple months DJ Khaled has been winning and using the power of Snapchat to transform himself into a megastar while promoting his latest album, ‘Major Key.’  That move proved to be a smart one as the hype has naturally continued. Liners like “did the Drake vocals get in yet?” and “you know everything is top secret” have become day-to-day language for all of us. Khaled teased the features on the album by asking his engineer Juan if the vocals were in yet. After all the top secret vocals came in, they combined to create magic for the self-proclaimed “King of the Anthems.”

The features on the album combine old school names like Jay-Z and Nas with new school superstars like Drake, Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, Nicki Minaj, Future and Big Sean. The combination of features shouldn’t surprise you as Khaled is known to combine artists you would never expect to be on a track together. His past records like “All I Do Is Win” featuring Rick Ross, Ludacris, Snoop Dogg and T-Pain are proof Khaled has in A&Ring records.

Khaled kicks off the album with a rare pairing of Jay-Z and Future on “I Got The Keys.” On the song Jay, which is one of my favorite rappers go retro with it as he swags out with tenacious wittiness. Many people say Hov is taking some jabs at Drake on the song and responding to “Summer Sixteen.” The bars are definitely on point and it’s exciting to see Jay dropping new material. Khaled broke down how he got Hov on the track with The Rap Radar Podcast.

“I play him the record and I’m vibing, you know, I got that eye so I’m looking to the side, I don’t want him to know I’m looking, and I see him vibing,” He told Elliot Wilson and B-Dot. “The first part is an instrumental so that’s when I’m really looking because, the great ones, that’s when they really just start going so I look and I just see him start rhyming in his head and mumbling…when the beat stopped, he’s just like, ‘Leave that for me.’”

Future comes on the song and adds that southern trap hook he’s notoriously known for.

One of my personal favorite songs on the album is “For Free” which features Drake. The funky guitar on the production make for a fun-filled track perfect for radio and clubs. Every collaboration between these two from “I’m On One” to “No New Friends” to “Fed Up,” have turned into hits. All vibes.

On “Nas Album Done,” the legend himself, Nas, spits fire bars over a sample of The Fugee’s “Fu-Gee-La.” Nas uses Khaled’s “Special Cloth Talk” lingo on the hook and drops a powerful line on his second verse where he says, “Khaled called me while I was in album mode, so I put it on hold for the ‘Major Key’/My albums done ni**as wait and see.” The line put the Internet in a frenzy as Nas’ album tease was enough for fans to start making up release dates.

Khaled gets J. Cole on the record “Jermaine’s Interlude,” which is interesting being that Cole hasn’t really dropped any material this year. Cole uses the soulful song to discuss his pain, hardships, struggles with record labels and never giving up. Ironically enough he mentions contemplating retirement, which had fans in a total uproar on Twitter.

Being on the radio everynight, I always pay close attention to songs that I can play on the Power 106 LIFTOFF. Both “Do You Mind” featuring Nicki Minaj, Chris Brown, August Alsina, Jeremih, Future & Rick Ross and “Ima Be Alright” featuring Bryson Tiller & Future I can see being in rotation every night. The songs fit all the aesthetics that radio listeners look for, which are: star power, nice melodies and catchy hooks.

Khaled clearly has the anthem-making formula down to a science. He teams the hottest artists with the hottest producers in the game and puts those top secret vocals to use over the sickest beats. Be sure to cop my brother DJ Khaled’s eighth studio album, ‘Major Key’ on iTunes right now!

FUTURE DROPS TAPE WITH DJ ESCO

future-announces-project-e.t.

Future made noise on Twitter late last night when he hinted at a new mixtape.

However, nobody expected the FBG general to drop the tape less than 24 hours after teasing it on Twitter. It should come as no surprise as Future has always had a strong reputation for being a hard worker. This is the third tape he’s dropped this year along with ‘EVOL’ and ‘Purple Reign.’

‘Project E.T.: Esco Terrestrial’ mixtape is his offering to summer ’16. It has that natural trap feel with a handful of tracks that figure to light up the nightclubs all summer.

It comes loaded with features from Drake, 2 Chainz, Young Thug, Lil’ Uzi Vert, Casey Veggies and more. Metro Boomin, DJ Mustard and Zaytoven also have production credits on the project.

SCHOOLBOY Q DROPS ‘BLANK FACE EP’ TRAILER

We’re a few weeks away from the release of ScHoolboy Q’s ‘Blank Face LP’ and Q gave us a preview for what’s to come with a cinematic trailer.

The trailer that is over a minute long shows Q running from the police, smoking a blunt with homies in his living room before his mom kicks them out and captures him behind bars. You’ll also see Q sporting a Houston Astros cap representing Hoover as he rides around the hood with some of his comrades.

It’ll be interesting to see if Q will release the album in a LEMONADE-isque fashion with full-length visuals.

Watch the trailer below.

The ‘Blank Face LP’ will be dropping July 8th.

LAKERS SELECT INGRAM WITH 2ND OVERALL PICK

The Lakers hit it big at the NBA Draft Lottery when they were awarded the 2nd overall pick. On Thursday the team turned that 2nd pick into Brandon Ingram out of Duke.

In a not so deep draft this year, Ingram was a major pick for the rebuilding Lakers, whom are in need of a big man.

It is not yet known if the 18-year-old will make the team this year or will be stashed overseas to work on his game. One thing is for sure that Lakerland is very optimistic of this pick and see Ingram as a foundation of the future.

MAMBA OUT!
Kobe went out with a bang in his last game! The Black Mamba ended his illustrious career in the best way he possibly could by scoring 60 points with four boards and four dimes.

His 60 point performance made it the most exciting game the Lakers played all season and brought an electrifying energy to the Staples Center, which wasn’t there all year long.

Of course the stars were in attendance to catch the ending of an era in LA. Everybody from Kanye West to Jay-Z to Kendrick Lamar to G-Eazy to George Lopez, the list goes on.

Ticket prices for the once-in-lifetime event were outrageous but anybody that experienced the moment can tell you every dollar was worth it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EzpsyFvz7W0

Genuine basketball fans anticipated Kobe’s final game would be a very special one. However, nobody expected it to be as epic as the 60 point performance the Black Mamba had. Mamba out!

WARRIORS SURPASS BULLS
The Golden State Warriors entered the season with one goal, that goal was simply to repeat as champions. As the season progressed, they continued to consistently win games and on Wednesday night they got their biggest win of the year, 73.

Their 73rd win of the season broke the ’95-’96 Chicago Bulls’ record for most wins in a single-season.

That Bulls team is viewed today as one of the best teams in history, so that is saying something about this year’s Warriors.

Although it’s been a record-breaking season for the Warriors, they have a long road in the playoffs and will focus on the goal they came into the season with, to repeat.

N.W.A. INDUCTED TO ROCK & ROLL HOF
One of the biggest outlaw groups in the history of hip-hop and also the pioneers of gangsta rap, N.W.A., were one of the biggest names in this year’s Rock & Roll Hall of Fame class.

Although there have been other hip-hop names notably Run DMC, Public Enemy and the Beastie Boys, N.W.A. are the first west coasters to get such honors.

It’s been long overdue for N.W.A. to get such honors as they were insturmental in inflating very controversial subjects and became villains for doing so.

Thru time the vindication they faced made them in some ways heroic figures and a voice for the “hood.”

Of course when you’re winning there’s always somebody trying to hate on your victory. Gene Simmons came out to say the rap group shouldn’t have been inducted because they aren’t “rock & roll.”

One thing is for certain, they did live like rock stars.

KHALED SIGNS ANOTHER ONE
DJ Khaled has had a very good year to say the least and it’s not even summer yet.

From signing to Roc Nation to getting a deal with Apple Music and earning a show, it’s been a very successful year.

The DJ goes on snap everyday and emphasizes that he is “up to something” on the daily. Those words have proved to be very factual as he has signed yet another contract, this time with L.A. Reid’s Epic Music.

Keep winning, Khaled.
