Kevin Gates Surprises Fans With ‘Chained To The City’ EP [STREAM]

Upon getting out of prison Kevin Gates said he wouldn’t drop anything until he made something he felt was compelling enough. Well, it appears he found a collection of songs that were good enough as he releases his surprise ‘Chained to the City’ EP.

Just two days ago he previewed music on his Instagram and he lets go of three new songs for the EP via his BWA (Bread Winners’ Association) imprint. The three songs on the project are “Change Lanes,” “Vouch,” and “Let It Sing.”

He has been restricted by the Department of Corrections in Illinois to travel out of state, which has limited his performances and cancelled plenty of his scheduled upcoming shows.

While being trapped behind bars, Kevin Gates finds a way to release some new music. The system may be holding Kevin back, but they can’t hold back his music from reaching his streets with ‘By Any Means 2’ being released by his camp.

The sequel follows the original, which dropped in 2014 and includes a 14-tracks. Aside from PnB Rock on “Beautiful Scars,” the mixtape doesn’t include other mixtapes, allowing Gates to freely show he still has the skillset to continue to make music upon his release.

Bringing together a crazy, rare combination of Kendrick Lamar, Mac Miller, Kevin Gates, and Rell, is what DJ Kay Slay does on his new single, “Cold Summer,” off his recently-announced, forthcoming album, ‘The Big Brother’.

With Kung-Fu Kenny, Mac Miller, and Kevin Gates showcasing their lyrical skills, respectively, Rell comes through with a smooth, soulful hook that is meant to repel against haters. Dot paints a picture with his words rapping, “Tidemarks and gun smoke stories / OGs reminisce and show glory / He said, ‘I’m hoping you make a way out / Before this MAC-11 do it for me.”

‘The Big Brother’ is set to be released September 22nd via EMPIRE. Aside from “Cold Summer,” the album will also include “Wild One” featuring Rick Ross, 2 Chainz, and Meet Sims. Shoutout Kay Slay for feeding us with these rare collabs.
