Jhene Aiko & 9-Year-Old Daughter Namiko Perform “Sing To Me” [WATCH]

Mother’s Day is around the corner and to celebrate the national holiday, VH1 put together a tribute special called “Dear Mama.” One of the stars of the show was Jhene Aiko, who performed her ‘Trip’ single “Sing To Me” along with her 9-year-old daughter, Namiko.

With a picture of Jhene and Namiko glowing in the background Jhene serenaded the crowd that included her mother Christina Yamamoto and two sisters Mila J and Miyoko. The touching single was co-written by Jhene and Namiko Love.

Before beginning the performance Jhene explained the single by saying, “This is a song that I wrote with my daughter, Namiko Love.”

VH1’s “Dear Mama” was hosted by La La Anthony and comedian Anthony Anderson. Diddy, Colin Kaepernick, Teyanna Taylor, Ne-Yo, and others also did tributes.

Jhene Aiko & Rae Sremmurd Perform “Sativa” On “The Ellen Show” [WATCH]

Taking over daytime television, Jhené Aiko gathered up her “Sativa” troops in Rae Sremmurd for a performance of the ‘Trip’ single on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.”

Before the performance, Jhené along with Swae Lee and Slim Jxmmi received RIAA-certified gold plaques for “Sativa.” That pre-game celebration continued on stage as the trio moved around the stage accompanied by harp players.

Jhene Aiko Unveils “Sativa” Remix Feat. Rae Sremmurd + Video [PEEP]

Revisiting her ‘Trip’ album of last year, Jhene Aiko called on Rae Sremmurd for the assist on the remix of “Sativa,” which she unveiled along with a video.

Correlating with the single’s vibe, the visuals include psychedelic scenes like Swae Lee and Uncle Jxmmi unlocking a futuristic touch-screen portal, which lands them in a different world, where they link with Penny. Other trippy stuff seen includes a leather-sporting seductive woman, a nude bikini, and more.

Jhene Aiko Performs “While We’re Young” On “Late Night W/ Seth Meyers” [WATCH]

Before hitting the road with Willow Smith and Kitty Cash on her upcoming “Trip Tour,” Jhene Aiko took over the 30 Rock stage on “Late Night With Seth Meyers” for a performance of “While We’re Young.”

Shining in a dazzling purple dress, the songstress elegantly performed a rendition of her ‘Trip’ single in front of a committed audience and back up by a digital drum player, harpist, and keyboardist. The performance is one of many for Jhene on late night since dropping her new album.

Jhene’s “Trip Tour” will begin November 14th in Detroit and will run all the way through December 27th, where it will wrap up in Honolulu, Hawaii. She will then follow that by taking a trip over the pond for her European leg.

Jhene Aiko & Big Sean Perform “Moments” On “The Tonight Show” [WATCH]

Jhene Aiko and Big Sean created memorable “Moments” on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” with a performance of their ‘Trip’ collaboration.

Along with a live band and blue lighting, Jhene hit the smoke-filled stage draped in a beautiful floral dress. Big Sean then joined his woman on the stage and ran through his verse, rocking a yellow jacket, orange shirt, black pants, and diamonds around his neck.

Yesterday, Jhene shared a photo of her new Big Sean tattoo on the back of her arm.

Jhene Aiko Gets Personal On New Album ‘Trip’ [STREAM]

Having recently announced a short film that was going to be accompanied by a book of poetry, Jhene Aiko seemed to be gearing up for an album rollout. Instead the beautiful songstress releases her surprise album, ‘Trip’.

‘Trip’ follows Jhene’s 2014 effort, ‘Souled Out’, which she also released with a short film titled “Girls Trip.” Over 22 songs Jhene takes listeners on “epic, psychedelic journey beyond the boundaries of R&B.”

Collaborates include with her beau, Big Sean on “Moments,” John Mayer on “New Balance,” Brandy on “Ascension,” Swae Lee on “Sativa,” the OG Kurupt on “Never Call Me,” TWENTY88 on “OLLA,” her father Dr. Chill, daughter Namiko Love, and others.

Yesterday she dropped her “Map Mission” spoken word, where she detailed the pain she has been going through since the loss of her brother Miyagi’s death in 2012. The death of her sibling has taken her on a ride trying to find herself and rekindle the love and warmth her brother brought to her heart.

“My brother and I were very close. We were only two years apart,” she says in “Map Mission.” “I never thought of him as a separate person, but an extension of myself. He was my reflection. In his presence I was confident and always so sure.”

Next week it is expected Jhene will release her full-length short film to accompany this album. In the meantime stream ‘Trip’ below.

Jhene Aiko Gets Personal On “Map Mission” Spoken Word [LISTEN]

Jhene Aiko is getting ready to share her short film, “Trip.” Earlier this week she unveiled the preview and tomorrow night in LA she will be hosting a special viewing. The short film will include poetry by her and she also revealed that a book of poetry is coming with it.

As for the poetry, she delivers the first of three. This one is called “Map Mission,” and it is a very emotionally-driven, personal piece, where she shows a side of herself that she doesn’t usually show.

Jhene Aiko Shares Trailer For Upcoming Short Film “Trip” [WATCH]

In an interview with Playboy, Jhene Aiko disclosed that her upcoming album will be titled ‘Trip 17’. To accompany her next project, Penny will also release a short film called “Trip.”

The songstress will play herself in the short film, as she goes on a journey in the green wilderness, where water is near and sounds of waves can be heard in a distance. Along with playing a role, Jhene will also provide some of her original poetry according to the script she tweeted.

While sharing the title of her forthcoming album with Playboy, Aiko also mentioned the influence on the album will be about her journeys saying, “It’s inspired by every type of trip you could imagine: mental, physical, even psychedelic. I’m at a point where I put it all in the music. It’s a puzzle I want people to put together.”
